All-new InsanelyMac website

zaw00r

Welcome to the all-new InsanelyMac website! It's been a longtime coming, a lot of late nights in the office, but we've finally re-launched our beloved website with a whole host of new features.

Our news is now run from the industry standard content management platform, WordPress. We've integrated this in with our existing forum so there's no need to re-register to leave comments on News posts.

The new website also heralds the launch of our OSx86 database - an area where you can find compatibility reports on many PC components and hardware, and see which bits of hardware work with which OS X builds and any further details. This area will be expanding regularly, and soon you will be able to submit your own reports on hardware that you've tried so that we can build the best and most comprehensive database of OS X compatible components and hardware ever!

We've got plenty more features and functionality that we'll be adding over the coming weeks, we'll keep you posted as and when we update the website.

We'd love to hear your feedback on our new site and look forward to delivering more great updates soon!

-Ed.

To sum up everyones comments:

THIS WEB DESIGN IS A PILE OF {censored} - MAKE INSANELY BEAUTIFUL THE DEFAULT SKIN OR DIE!

I too agree with this.

The site loads much slower, the google ads are ANNOYINGLY AWFUL (they aren't even targeted ads, I turned off adblock pro in Firefox to see what they are like, and immediately turned it back on disgusted at them), and it's lost it's "Apple" feel.

Overall score: Really bad.

P.S. Reply to thread thing is screwed up. Massive empty space above post text box.

+1

(but then I won't know as I go straight to the forum and have the Insanely Beautiful as default!!)

Eeek guys. I think the new theme probably needed way more work before it was released. It's okay but really pretty poor for a website of this... caliber shall I say. It seems like it's run by a bunch of 15 year olds? Hmm I hope not.

And the use of the Apple icons as a staple to the sites look has to be a copyright violation. Did you get permission to use them? If not, expect a letter telling you to remove them.

The new design is nice, but I could care less about looks, it's speed. And the site is MUCH slower than before (and before it was pretty atrocious already). Seriously, this post just took ~45 seconds to appear...

It's so bad, I open new pages in new tabs so they load in the background and I do something else. Another example, clicked link for Control Panel Board Settings and it took 30 seconds to render.

cmon guys, you make good $$ here, get some decent servers...

C'mon guys!! Staff have made many hours of work whit this and here you are piling it down 6 to nothing!!??

I like it and where this "it's so slow and grappy?" come from? I have no slowing down or such.. ?

Thanks for new layout and sure there is still much to do!

Nice and clean lads. :-)

I don't know what the nay-sayers are grumbling about, but it's working for me. As to the speed issue, InsanelyMac has been pig-friggin-slow for quite the long time now. Nothing to do with the graphical update I'm inclined to speculate, but instead, some prior server issues. Nice if y'all could sort it out.

To those who so despise the new look, you can choose the older skin and be happy with your choice. Bitching about something you needn't have to experience sounds somewhat infantile to me. But hey, if grizzling about stuff you don't have to experience floats your boat, don't let me interrupt you. ;)

Nice work InsanelyMac dudes. :(

but then i've only just come back onto the site... haven't been using it for a while... concerned about ppl's comments now. don't notice any speed difference myself and adblock means no ads... so...

It's unfair about all moderators and donators was not noticed about the new "Insanely lucid" layout.. anyhow.. new look is a lot slow.

Personally i use "IP.Board Pro" layout but new icon style you suggest is fine!

Bye to all

I agree with you, I don't understand why they can switch to something more reliable :D

I'm going to say it again, the site looks great!

but yes it does take a split 2nd longer than insanely beautiful on my little acer laptop. the OSx86 database looks like it's going to be problematic... I always thought that a more complicated hardware tree in the forums section was all that we needed.

I do agree, better servers would be nice... I know this site gets a ridiculous amount of traffic, but still... other smaller boards I'm apart of have 3000+people on with no problem... Insanelymac get about that and the servers are at overload.
