claudiuslu
Try following the instructions in this thread (second post): http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=57650 This restores the darwin bootloader, which it seems like you don't have. if it says "Device could not be accessed exclusively, try doing it in single user mode (-s on startup) or boot off the DVD and do it in terminal to access the /usr/ folder in DVD, open up terminal in OS X and type "open /Volumes/DVD\ name\here/usr/standalone/" replace DVD\ name\ here with your DVD name as shown on your desktop. good luck! thanks for your help, but when i do it in single user mode i got this Now when i boot from the DVD f8 then cpus=1 -v then Utilities the Terminal I got this there is something i am not clear about the DVD name, as you can see i use different name in above. When i am inside OSX the DVD show up as leopard_install_osx86, but in windows it show up as osx8dvd. which one I should use? So far it is still not working. Any other ideas? or I did something wrong? thanks
antaholics
if you're not sure what name to use, type "ls /Volumes/" and look for the DVD. I'd think use the one leopard gives you... but it's odd that windows sees something different, lol. in the DVD screenshot, if it says resource busy, unmount the drive in diskutility first good luck! claudiuslu
if you're not sure what name to use, type "ls /Volumes/" and look for the DVD. I'd think use the one leopard gives you... but it's odd that windows sees something different, lol. in the DVD screenshot, if it says resource busy, unmount the drive in diskutility first good luck! unmount which drive? can you show me how? thanks i tried unmount the DVD and the partition which i installed OSX, but both says "currently not mounted" also do i have to flag my OSX partition first? please help

tommy huang
I'VE SEARCHED MANY PAGES. But limited to my basic computer knowlege on this issue. So I NEED HELP! I've tried many many times to install Mac OSX 10.5.2 on my laptop which is ASUS V1J model. I know a modified bios is very helpful. But very hard to get one. I've waited long time since I posted my request last week. My situations are: 1. With Kalyway OSX 10.5.2: Always stuck at: "Darwin kernel version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 200:11:08. SCT 2008; made by TOH: xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386" can't continue. I've tried all combinations(-x -v cpus=1...) none of them works... 2. With JAS OSX 10.5.2: Can get into install menu. After successful installation(reads from the screen) then boot with a "4 languages screen" never successfully boot into Mac OSX86. I need to set up dual-boot system (Windows XP / OSX86) Asus V1J Notebook's Spec: CPU: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 2000 MHz ChipSet: Mobile Intel Calistoga-PM i945PM VGA: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 (512 MB) Big thks on this issue in advance.... antaholics
for the JaS installation, instead of booting into the "4 languages screen", try booting with the -v flag and tell us what you see.

claudiuslu
unmount the drive that says resource busy for. go to disk utility in the DVD, right click your HD, and select unmount, and try again. hope it works =/ @atlee, I have no idea how to help you, but if you need any dev id's or anything simple I'd love to help I got a Permission Denied" error from Terminal. atlee
How it works is the numbers in order Input or Output node then goes through a Audio Mixer then goes through a JACK. e.g. 20(0x14)Output 12(0x0C)Audio Mixer 2(0x02)JACK - Speaker i'll play around with the numbers more today, trying to get the right combo, i'm pretty sure i'll get Headphones working on headphone out and speaker on speaker out, i also nearly got Line in working, it showed in panel but no controls. I did get Mic working though

claudiuslu
I got that fix, and I went back to Vista and use EasyBCD to add OSX to startup, reboot I tried both with options like cpus=1 -v -f -x and no options, i got that error then this screen that screen stuck at that screen
Guest undefined
claudiuslu, what's your sata mode (set in bios) - compatible or enhanced? also try fixing hfs error - maybe it didn't work
tommy huang
Hello! Antaholics I re-install with Jas 10.5.2 and boot it with -v flag. Then I got stuck at "Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sat Feb 23 17:51:20 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386" System model name: V1J (V1J )
antaholics
@claudiuslu, To be honest, I don't remember how to get past that error, but maybe undefined can help @tommy, Can you post a picture or the 10 lines before that last line? I believe you are getting a kernel panic, but I'm not sure where, because you didn't include the KP line.
claudiuslu
claudiuslu, what's your sata mode (set in bios) - compatible or enhanced? also try fixing hfs error - maybe it didn't work well my bio still at version 202, so no option for sata mode. They are up to version 300 now. I dont have a hfs error now, fix that before. If you think i should upgrade my bio, do i have to upgrade in order? or just pick the newest one? thanks I have two partitions, one is vista and the other just storage. shrink another partition from vista to install OSX, f8 vanilla cpus=1 -v formatted partition as journaled HFS select only Vanilla_Kernel Vanilla_ACPI_fix BOOT_efi_mbr (under Bootloaders EFI) Installation was good. when i tried to boot into OSX it just stuck at a black screen with flashing _ on the screen. i was told maybe something wrong with my bootloader and told me to fix it using dd if=boot1h of/dev/disk0s2 bs=512 count=1 now i tried this so many times at different places, like within OSX (I can only boot into OSX with the DVD with cpus=1 rd=disk0s2 -v), during the installation process, and single mode using f8 then pus=1 -s -v This is what i got on single mode, boot from DVD then f8 cpus=1 -v -s, it doesnt work. Maybe i havent fix the bootloader yet????

antaholics
@claudiuslu: are you sure you have the DVD's file location right? open up OS X with the DVD and pay attention to DVD name, and use "open /Volumes/Leopard_install_osx86/" in terminal and see if the folder/file is actually there. When you do this in single user mode, make sure the DVD is mounted. have you tried this while booting into the DVD and using the terminal from the DVD? @tommy: looks like ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin is crashing when you start up. I've seen this before but I am getting old (okay, not that old), and my memory fails me. try googling this term (ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin site:insanelymac.com) and look for solutions. be sure to post back if it works! claudiuslu
antaholics well, when i am in OSX and look inside the kalyway DVD, there is no file call usr. I think by typing cd or open /volumes/Leopard_Install_Osx86/usr/standalone/i386 it means go into the DVD folder usr then standalone then i386. correct me if i am wrong? if that is the case, that means i dont have the file in my kalyway DVD?? when you said "have you tried this while booting into the DVD and using the terminal from the DVD?" does that mean boot from the DVD like the first time I tried to install OSX? if yes, then i did tried that. i think i got "permission Denied" error
terencec
Hey guys, I am having some serious issues installing the battery meter. I have replaced the original powermanagement bundle, redid the permissions, and yet the power options are still basic. (2 options only). editing the .kext seemed to give me no luck as well, since it kept telling me that i had no permissions to "save" the file... any ideas? antaholics
@claudiuslu when you use the "open" command (only works in OS X, not installing), it will open up the folder. see if you can open the /usr folder.. it *should* be there (it is probably hidden, which is why you have to open it this way). yes, it's the installation from the DVD.... have you tried another DVD? kalyway 10.5.1 seems to be the best bet. terencec
Hey guys, I am having some serious issues installing the battery meter. I have replaced the original powermanagement bundle, redid the permissions, and yet the power options are still basic. (2 options only). editing the .kext seemed to give me no luck as well, since it kept telling me that i had no permissions to "save" the file... any ideas? Ah!!! I have gotten it! My knowledge of OSX grows greater and greater each day! The problem was resolved when I enabled my root account, and logged into that :censored2: im stupid shoulda thought of that when I saw the permissions conflicts. Yeah apparently OSX really cares about the permissions unlike windows
lucif3r
Thank you, Antaholics and Undefined. I got a lot of help by reading these posts, they are so helpful. But there's one more thing: My soundcard working fine under 10.5.2 (Kalyway), but after i plugged in my headphone, it remains silence, nothing comes out of my headphone. I'm using F3Sv, so I hguess you may tell me how to fix this? Thanks again. BTW, I suggest you post a list of modified BIOS. They worked like a charm!!
