Smo3
Hello, I have installed everything like it said, everything worked fine (except wireless card ). So everything was great till i decided to upgrade to 10.5.3 after update I now have one big problem - something wrong with video processing, all games automatically closing after start, and I get no messages. Maybe someone can help me with that please. P.S. sorry for my bad English Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98504-the-official-asus-f3-series-notebook-thread-leopard/page/20/#findComment-955005 Share on other sites

tut126
Hi all, thanks for the great support on this thread about getting leopard on asus notebooks - particularly on a Asus F3SV-X1. I have managed to get everything working except SD card reader. I did replace my wireless card and bought an Atheros AR5008 ABGN PCIe card and now i can surf (finally). background: I started with the JaS 10.4.8 with some issues but worked in the end with support from the Tiger version of this thread I then installed leopard kalyway 10.5.1 then 10.5.2 and then updated with the 10.5.3 combo update with the guided instructions from this thread I proceded to install 10.5.4 using the ideneb disc. I had to get the generic wireless kext from the kalyway 10.5.2 disc in order for my wireless card to work. I am very happy with my progress with getting different versions of mac on my notebook. new challenge: I have been reading thread BOOT-132 allows you to boot retail DVDs and i'm interested to use this method. Has anyone attempted this method and successfullly installed? i d/l'ed the orginal cd boot with project kext and followed the instructions but after i put in the retail disc in it goes to a white screen with cursor thinking and then goes to another screen with the rainbow cursor and there it just keeps spinning and then finally disappears. the touch pad can't move the spinning cursor. i would apprecipate simple instructions with the various elements needed (boot cds, kexts, etc). i have read [TOTALLY VANILLA] to help me but i couldn't get it working.. thanks tut126 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98504-the-official-asus-f3-series-notebook-thread-leopard/page/20/#findComment-955156 Share on other sites

torpie13
Hi there, I've got an Asus F3Jp. and I'm using iAktos 4.1i updated to 10.5.5. And my Codec is Realtek ALC660-VD. First of all, I've deleted the AppleAzilla.kext . The audio drivers I got from this thread works perfectly. The problem is that it works randomly !!!! Let me explain myself: when I boot my 10.5.5, sometime the drivers are loaded, the audio then works right. And sometimes when I boot, the audio isn't working at all. So, at each boot the behaviur of the drivers is different. weired, not ? It's a very annoying situation. BTW to help you helping me, I noticed 2 things perhaps interesting: 1- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Hardware/Audio" : - When I use AppleHDA.kext from kabyl it shows: Device ID: 0x10431339 Audio ID: 12 - When I use ALCinject.kext it shows nothing (ie a blanc panel) Even when the audio works. 2- In the "About this mac/system profiles/Software/Extentions" - When the sound is not working I see (depending which one is used) either ALCinject.kext or the AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions panel. - When the audio is working ok I dont see neither ALCinject.kext nor AppleHDA.kext listed in the extentions. Off course I dont use ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext at the same time. And AppleAzilla.kext is deleted. 3- My Linux codec dump are telling me this: Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD Address: 0 Vendor Id: 0x10ec0660 Subsystem Id: 0x10430000 Why the Subsystem Id is not the same as the Device ID: 0x10431339 when I use AppleHDA.kext ?? All the files Im talking about are attached to this post (including AppleHDA.kext and my Linux Codec dump). Can you tell me what's wrong ? Can any one have a clue ? I hope I was clear on my problem description Thanx alot for your help ALC660VD.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98504-the-official-asus-f3-series-notebook-thread-leopard/page/20/#findComment-965760 Share on other sites

Guest undefined
I updated my system to 10.5.5 on my Asus, I could afford it, because I got myself a brand new vanilla MacBook where I kept my backup files. so, I noticed I have no VGA support at all, since my DVI-I port is only for DVI and HDMI and I can't plug anything analog to my laptop. i'm going to need it now, since I'm gonna use Asus as my secondary just-at-home laptop. SO! here's a question: have anybody managed to get vga working on GeForce 8600M GS? I was trying to enable it, but spent all day trying. please do respond. In windows it was possible to turn it to office mode and one core was running. Im running iDeneb 1.5.5 on F3jc PS. Which is the newest and fully working with shutdown driver for my 660 sound card? the shutdown problem was, and still is kernel related. Just try a kernel with a shutdown fix. There are at least two, one of which is a vanilla one. The other is the voodoo Beta 2C. I've tried them both and they work just fine. No more shutdown issues. saintckm
Which kernel do you mean? Vanilla 9.5? Where can I find it? Which drivers for graphics are you using? I'm trying to fix that colour depth issue. It says that it's 32m but it is clearly seen that it is 16m. It can be seen on gradients on pictures. Gradients aren't smooth, they have bars. I found thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=280866 where guy writes that he resolved that with NVidiaEFI but I don't know where to find it. Maybe there are newer versions of graphic drivers which will be better? Natit, Titan? EFI string? I'm not really into it, so I don't know what's the difference. Does anybody know how to resolve that issue? PS. I have working sleep and wake up but after monitor goes sleep it doesn't wake up. I have to use fn+F1 to put it into sleep mode and wake it up by enter to get my monitor working again. Does anybody know how to solve it? saintckm
I installed these patches from you jjduro, but nothing helped. It's the same as it was before, but I used installer and didn't delete any kexts. I noticed that system slowered a little bit after installing these. During install of iDeneb I chose SMBIOS Netkas. I have installed NVkush and still i have 16bit colour and in system config it says "I Can Has Model?" It's annoying that it shows only 16bit colour, especially that I'm working a lot with photos. 1. Is apple SMBIOS better? should I take apple 667mhz? 2. Which drivers for video card did you install? 3. Did you delete all NV kexts before installing this patch? 4. Did you open it with pacifist and chose particular packages or installed it straight from installer? jjduro
1. Is apple SMBIOS better? should I take apple 667mhz? Usually the modded ones are beter. but if your PC copes with the vanilla one, go for it 2. Which drivers for video card did you install? NVdarwin 256 MB 3. Did you delete all NV kexts before installing this patch? Deleted none 4. Did you open it with pacifist and chose particular packages or installed it straight from installer? Straight from the installer. (restore audio and ethernet <- both were working fine before) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98504-the-official-asus-f3-series-notebook-thread-leopard/page/20/#findComment-976556 Share on other sites
