Rufus T. Firefly
This release has for the moment given me no troubles. WinLinMac01
You can change that unknown manually. You have to add the about my mac plist file. Below are the directions: How to: Changing "About this Mac" info This info is just a copy from this thread by Puttabong and roisoft. To change textstring of sysinfo: Simply open the Finder, then press CMD + N to open a new window. Now, navigate to: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/YOURLANGUAGE.lproj Replace YOURLANGUAGE with the language file which is in use, in my case: German.lproj Then use TextMate/SubEthaEdit or your favourite text application to open the AboutThisMac.strings file! Now search for this: "ABOUT_BOX_SINGLE_PROCESSOR_FIELD_FORMAT" = "Customize This To Your Liking"; or "ABOUT_BOX_MULTIPLE_PROCESSOR_FIELD_FORMAT" = "Customize This To Your Liking"; Now enjoy your customized Dialogue. To edit Graphic: To change the 'About This Mac' Graphics, go to /system/library/coreservices/loginwindow/contents/resources Once you are there, replace MacOSX.tif with the new one (the name must be MacOSX.tif). This release has for the moment given me no troubles. reruns
You are very right Eddie it is the EFI I saw it fast on bootup it shows a efi error then something else ,too fast to read and then it reboots. Is there a way to bypass this on bootup just to get to install? eddie11c
Not really, I have been messing around with some older versions of EFI to try and see what does and does not work. It is time consuming, but will figure out a fix eventually. needles78
Hello guys, first of all thank you eddie for this great release works like a charm for me I needed some hours and a few installations to get it up and running but now its works! For those who have the same specs as i do: - I booted from dvd with the option "cpus=1" (without the option the installation freezed at the Leo4all Logo) - I made 2 partitions on my 200GB IDE disk and checked following options: - Languages German and Danish (dont think this is important for a successful installation ), - I chose the Netkast Kernel (with Vanilla i got reboot loops) - because of my Nforce (680i) i chose the Nforcedriver (the testdriver because of my satadvd, it works for me!) - I didnt install any Sound (because Xfi is not supported i think) or graphics driver (with the NvidiaGFXdriver checked i got Kernelpanics) - Started installation (dont know if you still have to move your mouse during the installation, some other releases failed if you didnt move it approximately every 5 min) so i moved it - after roundabout 25min my installation was done and after the reboot i got the registrationmenu - To get my 8800GTX up and running i downloaded the nvidiainstaller 2.0 from Punk92 to my desktop and installed the nvinject 0.2.1 from it. - with pacifist i extracted the folder Extensions under "Contents of 9C31/System/Library/Extensions" to my Desktop - I copied all *.Kext files into the original Systemsfolder of my leopardinstallation (/System/Library/Extensions) - to be on the safe side i used following commands in the Terminal.app to set the permissions: chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions rm -r /System/Library/Extensions.mkext - after that i rebooted the system and started it with the option -f and i was finally able to use dualview and my native resolution 1280x1024 - i did have some troubles with my RTL8139 though, i could use the internet but couldnt use the seen shares, but the sharefix eddie mentioned a few posts earlier worked for me, this prob is also solved now i just need to activate my onboardsound and get it up and running... I just installed world of warcraft (its the only game i have which has an macclient) and it runs smoothly at max details Hope it helps a bit. Once more thanks eddie11c for the great release regards Needles EDIT: I have changed my NIC to 3com 905-TX and got my onboard sound up and running (to get the sound running is really a pain...) but only stereo and no inputdevice. Grin.hqx
Prospective user here, new to the forums.... I was just wondering about your release. I got it from the "usual place," and upon extracting the .rar files I found that the folder has about 170GB worth of information... I don't think it's supposed to do that, is it? Also, the system I'm installing this on currently has Ubuntu 7.04, but due to some compatibility issues with the most recent versions, involving Maya 8.5, etc, etc... I'm having to drop it. Does anyone know if Maya, the various Adobe products, and other graphics programs will work on Leo4Allv2? BTW, my system specs: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H S-Series AMD AM2 Board PNY nVidia Quadro FX1500 Samsung 500GB SATA 3Gb/s HD Athlon64 X2 AM2 3.0GHz 2GB PC6400 RAM Sceptre 22" 1680x1050 LCD monitor EDIT: Onboard sound... And I have a DVD-R,RW/CD-R,RW drive and a DVD drive. No idea what the manufacturers are, unless I open it up.... Tt Lanbox case too, damned tedious to open.... Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95246-eddie11cs-leo4allv2-ppf-2-discussion-thread-latest-release-1052/page/5/#findComment-686848 Share on other sites
jFb
Hi! I managed to install Leo on my system. However, I noticed few issues: 1. If I choose to install additional drivers, installations interrupts because installer cannot find some files. 2. When I finish installation and log, Im stuck with only one display resolution: 1024x768 and nothing else. 3. System locks and crashes after few minutres of using it. Im new to the Mac world, so perhaps there are simple solutions to the issues that I am unable to resolve My system: CPU E6400 MB: Gigabyte P965-DQ6 (latest BIOS) Ati Radeon 1950 pro 256 MB 4GB RAM DDR2 800 Regards! There are 2 things for you to try during install, cpus=1 and maxmem=2048. You should not get the crash from memory(since I use the fixed IntelPIXIIATA) but you never know. Also will happen if you don't install those drivers during initial install too. Leopard has issues with more than 2 Gigs of RAM on some chipsets. Grin.hqx
Update on my situation with Leo4Allv2, I realized that all of the files I have are simply the exact same ISO repeated... But I had no problem with that. The problem is that the install reboots after loading a few kexts and drivers. When I put it in diagnostic mode, it says that I'm missing a file.... which I forgot. Back in a moment with the file name. UPDATE: com.apple.boot.plist is the name of the file, and in the .nfo file it says that the problem is with the BIOS, or the burn. The BIOS is correct, so I guess I'll try again... but there's a problem that I noticed... the Leo4Allv2 file that I got has 38 zipped parts, and each parts is about 98.5MB. After unzipping the files, they each show up as being approximately 4.4GB, and have the exact same filenames in each folder, so I figured I'd go ahead and burn one to a DVD... The final product shows as taking less than 200KB on my DVD.This may be a bit of a newbie thing to say, but could someone give me some tips on burning this release to a disc? Another Update!: I found that ubuntu's Archive manager sucks at multi-volume archives, so I got RAR from rarlabs, and it's working like a dream... just a bit longer, then I can burn the DVD and try my hand at Leopard! jFb
Hi! Thanks for the fast answer. This is what I have tried: With 4 Gb: everything you advised but to no avail, cpus=1, maxmem=2048, nothing. The installer cannot find the files (needles to say that the archive was verified by Nero and the installer itself) With 2Gb again nothing, however it seems it crashes no more so atleast one thing solved. During the boot sequence of the installer i have this message: Failed to load extension org.tgwbd.driver.ACPIPS2Nub whatever that means.... Anyway can I install kexts for display manually as this is my biggest concern...? eddie11c
Did you verify the MD5? What file is causing it to crash? Take a look in the logs while it is installing. Lots of people have problems with getting the wrong MD5 checksum and end up with some corrupt files. You can ignore that message, its about a PS2 driver that is not loading due to having 2 copies with different versions. Tusin
Hey Eddie, what laptop (or specs) are you using to test? Install went good, but I am having acouple of issues as well. HP DV6000 laptop keyboard and mouse will not work unless I use -f @ boot. Not THAT big of deal. But would love to figure out whats up with that, just to know why. Will your PS2Keyboard.zip fix this? Also, I get NO vga out with my GO7400. I assume, there is just a nvcap setting I need to find. Unless you have another suggestion? And do you suggest NVInject or NVinjectGO or does it really matter? Anyways, thanks again man. eddie11c
Do you guys have a USB mouse hooked up also? If so, some people have to remove the PS2mouse and PS2Trackpad kexts for the keyboard to work all the time while a USB mouse is hooked up. I am not sure what else to try, laptop/trackpad and mouse work fine on a HP laptop(DV8000). Do you have USB Legacy disabled?
