quasar_x
also I read something about updates with the Intel 950GMA....will it make it perform better because if so i'll go download a copy of this right now lol. I was wondering about the GMA950 part too. What exactly has been updated and what kind of advantages can we expect from it compared to the kexts used in other distributions (Kalyway/Iatkos)? Thanks for any info on this. Snerler
I have a problem with ethernet. On first boot it works fine, but after rebooting, it says "Cable not Plugged in." I have an NForce4 network controller and I selected the forcedeth.kext before installing. My Tiger and Vista partitions can all connect OK. Does anyone know what the problem is? reruns
Great version Eddie , just a few things to ask.I have a P4 2ghz system with ati card , when I put in the dvd it just starts up and it shows a few kexts loading and a driver or drivers and then reboots.I have tried all the bootup choices, -v -x -f ,cpus=1 , -s , etc. What could be wrong? I installed it also on another P4 3Ghz machine with a nvidia gforce6600 series card with a asus mobo, and all went well. Any ideas? eddie11c
If it is an older P4 system and instantly reboots after the kexts load its an issue with EFI. I believe EFI tries to get some information from the BIOS about bus speed etc.. But on some older systems this fails. There isn't a good fix for this yet, I have an old laptop that does the same thing. What I updated with GMA950 was that it installs unmodified 10.5.2 graphics kexts as this is what I was told you needed for QE/CI. But it seems in doing so you will get no resolution change, or at least from what I have heard. Maura I will take a loot at the files in a bit and see whats causing this error. It is hard for me to test since I don't have a PS2 keyboard. If you can look at the install log "showing everything" when it fails and post that up, maybe it will give some insight as to whats causing it. Video cards are a pain, try different combinations of drivers and Nvinject till you get it working. I have similar problems on a 7800 GTX. Takes a certain combo for it to work. pguanyj1983
I installed Leo4allv2 smoothly on my laptop (T2050 and GMA950, sata harddrive and ata cd-rom). After the initial reboot, I got a white screen with many vertical lines. I chose the GMA950 driver from the installation disc. My keyboard is also not working. I've read somewhere that deleting acpips2nub.kext might be helpful. I will try that. Does anyone else have the video problem or is it just because my GMA950 is somehow different? Are there any possible solutions? SticMAC™
I've just done the V2 installation as I had nothing to do! i'm still impressed by the simplicity of the whole install. Except for loading my efi string in the BOOT.plist and the AppleHDA.kext for my Sigmatel everything worked!! JUST one thing Eddie, I was very disappointed finding THAT startup screen during the setup(the diamond studded apple and not so graphic font use)! This takes the whole feel of installing MacOSX away, please understand you may do with it what you want but I feel it detracts from the professional feel of the whole package! Don't get me wrong I believe one should put one's mark on your work but kalyway showed it can be done by replacing the "X" with his "hiphop jazzman", i believe that so far JAS has it perfect nowhere but for the Customizing of the setup Menu can you see that it is anything other than Leopard! Just a idea, use it, don't use it! the installation is GREAT! eddie11c
Not really sure about those drivers, they were sent to me and said to be working. But I don't have one to test. For PS2 Keyboard people check this out please. Report back if it works for you, additionally I included the powermanagement bundle, but suspect it is not 100% as it was not able to calculate time remaining for me. Espionage724
Well seeing as how my disc failed that verification thing to see if its clean, im guessing thats why It failed always at 2 mins left. Going to try reburning it now so i shall return in 1hr (have to reinstall an os on my other pc....tiger) Also i always had QE and CI with other releases but im not sure if they were using unmodifed kexts for the GMA 950 or not. dawncobra
Eddie, i've tryed the file you left on rapidshare but the system tells me(after reboot) that the system extension " AppleACPIPowerSource.kext" wasn't installed properly and cannot be used. The ps2 patch doesn't work on my vanilla 9.2.2 kernel still no keyboard and mouse. The ps2 patch doesn't work on my vanilla 9.2.2 kernel still no keyboard and mouse. Try extracting the files with pacifist and manually installing them with kexthelper. I installed them on my laptop and it worked fine. Also it won't hurt to use the older version of ACPIPlatform, you can try installing the other verison. But both should work. If not something is not compatible with your computer. eddie11c
Try installing a non Go version of NVinject, it worked on my laptop ok. Sound is kinda crappy in general in Leopard. Not many are natively supported and the ones people hack drivers for still don't always work great. You could also try an EFI-GFX string and see if it helps. There are some good guides around for this, I will leave it to you to find them. Updated the link in the post earlier, fixed a permission error. edwardzracing
Boy, my comuter sure doesn't like this for some reason. Details below specs. SPECS: EVGA NForce 780i Motherboard Q6600 CPU Nvidia 8800GTS 150GB Raptor Philips Blu-Ray Burner "DVD VERIFY" BEFORE INSTALLATION PROCESS PASSES! I'm not sure what the problem I'm having is... it's been very hit and miss. I'm very new to this, but am fairly knowledgable when it comes to Windows PC's, so my troubleshooting efforts with bios certainly came easy. Unfortunately my efforts yielded no success. Now I'm not sure if it's my Blu-Ray burner or what, but something is definitely causing the install to hang. A lot of times it will hang after I choose a language for install. Sometimes I can get to the disk utility, and then it will hang there. Other times I've gotten clear to where it will begin installing, and then hang. I tried installing onto a IDE hard drive and the Raptor that I have... both result in the install hanging sometime or another. Tried enabling/disabling numerous options in BIOS, and still no luck. Downclocked the CPU back to it's default speed, still nothing. Removed all but one stick of ram (ram that I've tested with Memtest, and passed all tests), but still no luck (even tried it in different slots). Tomorrow I will attempt to hook up my old DVD reader/writer that connects via IDE rather than the Blu-Ray burner that connects via SATA... I have no idea if this will make a difference or not. It just doesn't seem to like my PC. I'm hoping it's the DVD/Blu-Ray burner. If not, I'm giving up. If anybody has any clue whatsoever as to what might be causing this, let me know... whatever the option is in BIOS to enable/disable... likely I've already tried it, but hell, who knows? Maybe I missed something. Anyways, I'll post back later today with my results on swapping the Blu-Ray/DVD writer for just the DVD reader/writer. *CROSSES FINGERS** PROBLEM SOLVED!! Might want to throw this on your Wiki page as a solution. Glad I didn't spend the time swapping out DVD drives. Prior to installing, at the "Press F8 to enter startup options" screen... I hit F8 and put in "cpus=1" (minus the quotes obviously) and bingo, it worked. I'm officially up and running, now just need to get the video card working correctly. I did run into another problem however... I'm unable to change the speed and duplex on the ethernet connection. After I change the settings, they never seem to save them. Kind of odd... unfortunately my router doesn't like the "Automatic" settings, neither in Leopard or Vista or XP, so if the settings aren't set to 10MBS and Full Duplex... the ethernet card tells me the cable is unplugged. Sucks for me... if anybody might have an idea as to how to fix this or force the settings, please let me know. Thanks!
