My firsts attempts where with some iATKOS DVDs, with a BrazilMAC 10.5.1 version, no success at all. Lately I used the KALYWAY 10.5.2 DVD without any issue. I even managed to dual boot Vista and MacOS following the article "Hack attack..." of Laughing Squid. How I did it: Connect a separate hard disk for MacOS and disconnect your Windows hard disk, just in case something goes wrong... Boot the system with the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. Just hit ENTER to start without any options. Use Disk Utility to create a new partition MacOS Journaled, in my case MFT but BSD could also work. Customize, select all components except AMD, for Intel CPUs or everything except Intel for AMD CPU. Install, have some coffee because it takes about 30-40 minutes. Reboot, if successful it should boot automatically into MacOS without the need to remove the DVD-ROM. For dual boot, I didn't manage to copy the chain0 file since my knowledge of the Linux commands is too limited and I could not remember the "copy file" command. So I searched in Google and found a link to download it. I placed it in the root of my Windows disk and used the guide in "Hack Attack..." to create a new boot entry in Vista for MacOS. Now I can dual boot without any problem. I even found some drivers for my Realtek HD sound card, my HP Laserjet 3020 printer etc My system: CPU: Intel Pentium Dual 2180 (2 GHz, dual core, SSE3) RAM: 2x 1GB DDR2 667MHz m/b: Asrock Conroe 1333-DVI/H (Intel 945 chipset, if I remember correctly) Graphics card: nVidia Geforce 6200 (used DVD included drivers) Sound card: Realtek HD (found drivers in this forum, only for output. Input don't work yet) Network: Realtek (onboard, don't remember model) (worked automatically) Printer: HP LaserJet 3020 (found drivers in HP website) System type: Custom built (most PCs are such in Greece) I hope that helps. Right now I post this message within Safari of MacOS! Many thanks to Kalyway. All other hacked DVD weren't good enough for us novices... And, no I didn't had to mess with EFI etc. Fully automatic as it should be! P.S.: Attention for dual boot: MacOS can access NTFS partitions but only for reading. It cannot write data to NTFS partitions. So if you want a partition for common work between MacOS and Windows format it as FAT32. P.S.: I downloaded and installed Open Office 2.4 While in any other application, incuding the simple text editor, I could switch the keyboard from Elglish to Greek, in Open Office Writer I could only type in English. Nach0 Stallion Posted May 24, 2008 Share Posted May 24, 2008 IBM Thinkpad R40 runs with "Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd" out of the box (sound, network, usb, screen 1024x768) how did you get kalyway to run on this system? its my R40 has a CD drive built in, so i swapped it for a DVD drive from another laptop, the boot screen does not recognise the DVD drive untill it loads windows. any help would be appreciated (do i need an IBM dvd drive?) Process :- 65 nm Video Card XFX 8600 GT with 512 MB DDR2 RAM PCI-E QE/CI :- Yes Patches :- NVinstaller V31 All resolutions available. Misc Monitor :- Viewsonic 1912 wb :- Detected and fully supported after installing NVinstaller LAN :- Fully working DSL Modem Sound :- Worked after installing Azalia audio patch Optical Drive :- Working but burns at very low speed, takes about 2-3 hrs to burn a DVD.
