Manufacturer: Acer T690 Desktop

Method: I used Kalyway to install the OS. I tried all of the configurations and only found one to work properly. Wipe harddrive and format it as mac os extended journal in MBR. Then customize the installation. Don't select the vanilla kernels and make sure the boot configuration is set to MBR. Select SSE2 and also under the Audio, only check the third option. Then go ahead with the installation. Skip the disc check and this will save you 30 minutes. It will reboot and will enter the new os. It takes a while to boot past the apple screen on the first start up but is lightning fast after that.

Note: This took me 7 months to get the system running with Leopard.

I had been running Jas Tiger 10.4.8 for the longest time, but couldn't get leopard running.

After a lot of frustration, what I ended up doing since the machine would panic because of the NforceNvidia kext, I installed every chipset patch except for the Nforce patches. Unbelievably, it works beatifully. Even noticable performance difference from Tiger. It's running great.

I got leo4allv4.1 running on a HP Pavilion laptop DV9205US:

Pavilion dv9205us

System Configuration

  • Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 (dual core)
  • Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • System Chipset: nForce Go 430
  • nVidia NForce MCP51 SATA Hard Disk / DVD.
  • BIOS Version: F.3D
  • Video: nVidia GeForce Go 6150 128MB vram - updated in BIOS (17 inch Display)
  • USB 2.0
  • Wi-fi: Broadcom B/G WiFi
  • Ethernet
  • Sound: Conexant High Definition Audio (Azalia)
  • OSX Version: Leo4allv4.1 10.5.4 with StageXNU 9.4.0

Working out-of-the-box

  • Video - use kext updates to increase resolution
  • USB 2.0
  • CD/DVD read - burning not tested
  • Shutdown / Reboot
  • Quartz Extreme (QE) - software
  • QuartzGL (QGL) - supported

Working, user action required

Still Not Working

  • Suspend/sleep - StageXNU 9.4.0 kernel installed, suspend still not working
  • Headphone Jack
  • Quartz Extreme (QE)
  • Most screensavers (only "computer name" and "flurry" work)
  • VLC crashes when any video files is opened

Bugs

  • System will hang on boot for an extra 5 minutes "waiting for IOKit to quiesce" if usb keyboard & mouse not connected to USB.
  • com.apple.boot.plist error at boot. Workaround is add boot password, set hd to boot first and set timeout message in com.apple.boot.plist to 2.

Not tested

  • Output to S-Video
  • CD/DVD burning
  • Internal Modem
  • HP Expansion Port
  • PCMCIA slot
  • VGA out
  • Microphone input
  • Wired ethernet - not tested but appears to be operational in System Profiler
  • IR port

KALYWAY 10.5.2 (versus iDeneb 10.5.4 patched to v1.1)

on Desktop

KALYWAY Install Method summary:

- Win XP on a SATA drive prior to intall

- bought a valid Leopard license ("because we really, really hate Microsoft")

- OSX86 on additional IDE, as SATA not recognized during install

- partitioned as MBR

- Sleep Kernel used

- NO EFI, since XP Bootloader

- after install, XP partition re-set active with G-Parted,

two partitions are now active, one on SATA (XP), one on IDE (OSX),

then added chain0 to the boot.ini menu,

boot menu now shows Win XP and Mac OSX and boots into both

Motherboard

Manufacturer: MSI

Motherboard Model: K9N SLI MCP

Chipset: NVIDIA nForce 570

BIOS updated

BIOS setup options: SATA cannot be set "native", no "AHCI", therefore IDE install

Audio: Realtek ALC883, works out of the box

LAN: onboard nForce DOES NOT WORK with any of the 3 available forcedeth.kexts

SATA & IDE: fine after istall

Processor

Processor Model: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Recognized as what in System Profiler: 2.01 GHz Unknown, but much faster in reality

Video Card

PCI Express

NVIDIA

Model: GeForce 7300 GT

Memory: 256 MB

All resolutions available, but fonts not very sharp, OSX issue though

Other USB devices, like printers, scanners etc.: All installers DO NOT WORK, because they don't recognize the platform, I suppose.

THEN I tried IDeneb 10.5.4, patched to V 1.1:

This time, the SATA disk was recognized and a partition was able to be used for installation!

A problem was still the OnBoard NForce Ethernet Controller, who wouldn't run with any of the three different nforcekext versions currently available. But a cheap Realtek 8139 Ethernet Controller is supported by iDeneb v1.1.

As for kernels, I first tried the 9.4.0 Modbin, which is a bit faster than the others, BUT has some problems with certain processes (IMAP-retrieving for instance) and offers NO SLEEP. Then I installed the 9.2.0 Sleep kernel with OSX86Tools and now everything works perfectly.

A lot of programs do well: CS3, OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, etc.

Apple Mail doesn't with IMAP.

A lot of drivers do well: HP Photosmart, Canon EOS,

others (Epson Scanner) needed to be tranferred manually from a different Leopard-System (Library/Application Support, Library/ColorSync/Profiles, Library/Image Capture and System/Library/Extensions).

A problem are printers with a propriety postscript-module, like OKI laser printers. Installers won't work and I can't find any informations in the system. Any idea? Would be great...

In the boot.ini of the XP partition, I added chain0 as second OS.

If the XP partition is flagged to boot (G-Parted), you get to the Windows bootloader (where you choose between XP and OSX). If you choose XP, you get to XP. If you choose OSX, you get to the Darwin-Bootloader.

If the OSX partition is flagged to boot, you get to the Darwin-Bootloader, where you can also chose which partition to boot from. (You can switch from one bootloader to the other for hours if you are bored...)

Dell Optiplex 755 SFF

Install Method: Leo4Allv3 w/ Kernel 9.2.2, Azalia_ADI1988 (Audio), Intel ICHx (Chipset Drivers) and Nvinject 0.2.1 with 256mb

Audio: works with Azalia_ADI1988

LAN: Installed Realtek RTL8139D PCI 10/100 card, onboard NIC not working

Video: Installed a XFX Geforce 7300GS (Low-profile), onboard (GMA3100) works (but QE/CI both not work)

Vanilla kernel: works

Sleep, restart, shutdown works (If you want sleep working you have to go to the BIOS to set APCI Power Mode S1)

Hello,

I saw your reply on InsanelyMac and what you better can do with to get your

printer working, is get the original Leopard disk and

there you can do something called custum install to get the extra printer drivers

in leopard for your OKI.

then added chain0 to the boot.ini menu,

boot menu now shows Win XP and Mac OSX and boots into both
