Install Methods summary: Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD -> Kalyway 10.5.3 Update -> Vanilla 10.5.4 Delta Update

Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? Vanilla works, using CHUD fix for shutdown and such

Motherboard

Gigabyte EP35-DS3L

Chipset: Intel P35 + Intel ICH9

BIOS: F4 (updated to F5)

Revision: 1.0

BIOS Setup Options: disable floppy, disable serial, disable parallel, disable overclocking, SATA in AHCI and native mode

Onboard Audio works out of the box? No, used ALC888 patch found on this site with AppleHDAPatcher, works great after, have only tried audio out, front panel headers work but somewhat scratchy noise, I don't really use it now

Onboard LAN works out of the box? Yes, after install, a full shutdown is required, then LAN works fine, LAN does not restore automatically after sleep, have to turn off DHCP then re-enable it for it to 'wake up'

SATA and IDE works out of the box? SATA - yes, in full AHCI SATA 2 3.0Gbps speed, did not test IDE

Processor

Intel Core 2 E4600 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB

Recognized as what in System Profiler: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Video Card

What type of card: PCI Express

NVIDIA/ATI/Intel? ATI

Model: Radeon 2600XT

Memory: 256MB GDDR3

Board Manufacturer: Radeon

Patches used: natit (during initial Kalyway 10.5.2 install,) don't know if 10.5.3 or 10.5.4 added native support for this card

QE/CI: Yes and Yes

All resolutions available? Yes, have not tried dual monitor support, DVI output is perfect

Addons

PCI card - Startech Firewire 800 3port PCI Card (for use with Firewire iSight, works out of box)

Bluetooth - Azio Micro USB Bluetooth Adapter (works out of box)

I should add that asus, and Foxconn build the pcs for apple, and the other thing that is differant is the bios. So mac minis are all intel 945 chipsets, other macs are P31 and up. The mac pros true chipset is a server chitset due to the dual processor boards. i hope this litte bit helps use find better boards that work.

SATA1: WD Raptor 74GB (with Vista)

SATA2: WD 200GB (for Leopard, named Leopard, using MBR and journaled file system)

IDE Master: NEC DVD R/W (fully working in Leopard)

NOTE: For install to work, the WD Raptor disk had to be completely disabled in BIOS and the WD200 had to be set as the boot-disk after the DVD in order = Only one SATA disk could be active. With this the install goes just fine.

If both SATA-disks are active the Zephyroth 10.5.2 REV2 will give a Installed Failed message and the disk will inly boot if the Zephyroth DVD are in the DVD.

If both SATA-disks are active the Zephyroth 10.5.2 REV1 will install fine, but the OSX boot will stop with a "Syncing disks. Killing all processes" message.

Kalyway 10.5.2 intel amd dvd, Gparted Live 0.3.7-7, Hiren's Boot CD 9.5, Dual boot - chain0 system.

guides used from OSx86 Wiki, as well as the kalyway dvd discription thingy. i also forgot to install some drivers and also did not install correct drivers at one point. honestly, i am a noob at this, and took me about 5 times to install it correctly. :( i shall be writing up a short manual or so as support for people with hardware similar to mine.

Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? (example: partitioned as MBR, EFI v8 + Vanilla Kernel)

i can't remeber what EFI means at the moment so please excuse me, but yes, Vanilla Kernal works. i will check up what EFI is and report back asap.

Hi people

I've an HP Pavillion ZD8256ea with Leopard

Hardware:

Pentium 4 3,2Ghz

2GB RAM

ATI X600 256MB

DVD-RW DL

Infrared Command

Card Reader

AC97 AudioCard

Software:

Leo4All V2

Callisto ATIX600 Ktexts for ZD8000 series

AppleAC97audio.ktext

I'm very happy with this installation, my infrared command function good, audio too and I can use my 17TFT with 1440*900 resolution, but my cardreader doesn't func and I can't use QI/CE with my ATI X600

If anyone Knows how I can configure my graphicard to use QI/CE I appreciatte very much your help, because this is my only bad experience with Leopard at the moment.

Thanks and Regards.

Well, it took several trial installs but now I have a fully functional and stable Leopard box!

Current OS X Version: 10.5.4 (iAtkos v4i)

Desktop/Laptop? Desktop

Prebuilt? (Y/N) N

(If prebuilt then add following information, otherwise fill the Motherboard:)

Manufacturer: (example Dell?) N/A

Model: (example Inspiron xxx?) N/A

Install Methods summary: (List all methods tested, check preferred method - the one you are writing about now)

Here's what I did, step by step:

1) Reset BIOS to Optimal Defaults and configured to boot from DVD

2) Started with iAktos v4i DVD (no special options at boot)

3) Partitioned hard drives: Single partition each, MBR, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) filesystem

4) Chose Custom install options:

4a) Deselected Darwin Bootloader

4b) Additional Patches, chose Darwin X86 for MBR, Kernel 9.2.0 ToH options, and SMBIOS->AppleSMBIOS netkas

4c) Chose Remove Thermal kexts

4d) In Drivers, chose VGA->nVidia->NVinject->512MB, System->SATA, and Network->Intel Pro/100 VE

5) Booted into O/S with fully-functional LAN and audio, limited vidio (no QE/CI)

6) After install, ran NVinstaller v5.2 for QE/CI support

7) Installed Apple updates successfully with no adverse effects

8) Optional: Configured VNC screen sharing, disabled sleep mode, and enabled SMB file sharing successfully

9) Optional: Updated kernel to ToH/StageXNU 9.4.0 (used OSx86 Tools 1.0.149)

Tested with:

iWork '08, Aperture 2.1, Adobe Photoshop CS3, OpenOffice.org 2.4, AOL for Mac OS X, eclipse, GIMP, and more -- no glitches

System has been rock solid, stable, and an incredible performer. 99% perfect. Disabled sleep mode in power settings (does not resume properly). This is no issue for me as I need sleep disabled to keep VNC service accessible.

Does EFI and/or the Vanilla kernel work? (example: partitioned as MBR, EFI v8 + Vanilla Kernel)
