here you go: http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/up...5x-to-1056.html

but first, you can/should back up all your stuff with time machine. it should work for you, and it basically works like norton ghost so it'll be able to restore your entire operating system. i mean, it'll a while to restore if you have a lot, but your information will be saved. all you need is a reformattable external drive.

hahaha i broke my balls to upgrade to 10.5.6 from 10.5.4 (also iATKOS), and in the end, it wasn't worth it. i couldn't actually get the upgrades to work, so i installed fresh with iPC's 10.5.6, and lost my battery meter, and it's really frustrating me, and also, there seriously isn't anything great about 10.5.6. or even 10.5.5. you can check on apple's site for what's new in those upgrades. honestly i just wanted to do it for the sake of it and to prove i could. and i did, and it was not worth it to lose my battery meter. i'm considering reverting back to 10.5.4 now, but it would take so long to install everything again and then get my dual boot to work right again.

but uhh yeah if anyone knows how to fix that...i'll be indebted forever.

so just wanted to post that I got my battery problem fixed so i don't waste anyone's time posting a solution...i got a powermanagement.bundle from another website, it was like apple2pc or something, and it worked, although it disabled my mouse and keyboard, but i fixed that too. so if you have that problem too, PM me and i'll give you the detailed steps!

so the absolute only problem left I have with my d630 is the one universal problem with every latitude-user: shutdown/sleep/reboot. anyone get anywhere with that yet?

Go back to your terminal and press Control C to end the script.

In terminal type:

Replace the line Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext with dsmos.kext if any exists.

Don’t restart.

Second Phase.

Open osx86tools.

Check repair permissions.

Set kext permissions.

Clear extensions cache.

Restart.

Boot using -v to see if any errors.

Ok so I am following the above directions but where would I see

Replace the line Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext with dsmos.kext if any exists.

and how do I replace it if I do?

Hi All,

First thanks to everyone that has contributed on the forum, I really appreciate all your efforts. I've installed Leo 10.5.5 successfully with the iAtkosv5i disk and everything works fine. After the installation I ran Software Update and installed the following updates

1. Remote Desktop Client Update v3.2.2

2. QuickTime v7.6

3. Migration and DVD/CD Sharing v1.1

4. iTunes v8.0.2

5. Java For Mac OS X 10.5 Update v1.0

6. Mac OS X Update.

After installing the updates, USB stops working and my laptop would not detect any USB drive I plug in. Parallels Desktop also stop loading successfully.

Could anyone please suggest a fix for these problems?

Thanks in advance.

I had my install go smoothly but then got a "no keyboard attached, attach a keyboard" I wanted to know if you can't use the keyboard and mouse that came with the laptop and need to use a usb one. I read through and searched and coulnd't find an answer people only said they lost their usb and mouse due to an update. So can you not use the keyboard and touchpad that is on the laptop. If you can can someone tell me what option I need to click when I'm installing. I have a dell latitude D630 with nvidia graphics card and 2gb of ram and no blue tooth. I'm tying the iATKOS v4i install.

what installer are you using? most of them should have a ps/2 keyboard/mouse driver though. i'm guessing your'e using 10.5.6, which is where i also had that keyboard/mouse problem, and installing the ps2 drivers works well. if you don't want to reinstall the os again, search the forums for appleps2controller or something. it's appleps2-something.

The only thing I haven't tested is VGA out, though that should require only a change to the NVCAP value.

This installation solved my video issue and seems to keep things running a lot cooler.

I would recommend using iPC over iAtkos for users with the nVidia cards, I don't have a x3100 to test with.

Tips for iPC 10.5.6 PPF5 and the D630 (GMAX3100 - With no sleep trick needed!)

For a period between finishing the install and completing these steps you will need a USB keyboard and mouse!

1. Booting the DVD is going to be a pain. You are going to get an ACPI error almost every time. Be patient, it will boot! For the life of me I can't figure out why this happens, bottom line is it will eventually boot though.

2. Select the minimum packages from the DVD. Personally I went vanilla so no special kernels. I installed the Sigmatel 9205 driver, the GMAX3100 driver, SMBIOS-EFI, Nun-Chan PCMCIA, Power Management bundle, NTFS-3G, and that was pretty much it.

3. On your first boot make sure you boot with the -x flag. You will also need your USB keyboard and mouse plugged in. The keyboard and trackpad will not work yet.

4. Once you have finished booting in safe mode remove all the GMAX3100 related kexts.

5. Install the Slashhack GMAX3100 package (search the forum you should find it easily)

6. Install ACPIPS2Nub Kext Package ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=114578 )

7. Reboot and for me at least I was good to go, everything works except bluetooth.

I was able to get 1280x960 (Stretched) working on my D830 but if I go above that I end up losing my mouse curser even though I have the option to pick 1920x1600. When set at 1920x1600 everything looks good graphically but the mouse curser turns into a bunch of dots in a 1"x1" square pattern.

I'm completely new to Mac...as of 1/27/09 at least but I was able to get most things working thanks to the help of this and a few other posts on this site. I used the iATKOS 10.5.5 install using the Voodoo kernel and then did the 10.5.6 combo update downloaded from the Apple site.

At this point I have everything functioning pretty well with the exception of my BCM 5755 Ethernet card and the Intel 4965 AGN WiFi card. From what I’ve been reading it may be a while till a fix is out for them.

How many times should I try? 10, 20 or 99? I'm not patient at all :/

Using iATKOS 5i and the apple update, I have 10.5.6 running pretty well, Everything including wifi and bluetooth seems to work.

I have a D630 with a Nvidoa Quattro, should the graphics card model say "I Can Haz Model?" or is there another kext somewhere?

Also, no scrolling on the trackpad, anyway to get 2 finger scrolling or even 1 finger? that would be nice to have working....

Other than that, I do they a sleep image, hibernate failed error on every boot up.

if you are getting a ACPI error on boot to the DVD you can type in
platform = ACPI -v

and that should fix the problem

It didn't help. iPC 10.5.6 is still not booting. On the other hand ATKAOS 5i 10.5.5 boots, but I like iPC more and I'll keep trying to install it.

iATKOS gives me "Still waiting for root device" error. It comes out in so many topics/posts... and I have no time to waste for digging. I have to do my job from time to time. It's a shame to admit that I'm getting paid for supporting XP. :P

iPC works so great on Dell Latitude E6400 except from Intel GM45 graphics (no drivers/kexts at all). That's why I'm trying to install Leo on D630. Is there anything to disable in BIOS to get rid of kernel panic related to ACPI?

Lansalot,

As many as it takes....I did several installs trimming stuff down till I got one that worked. Sometimes the DVD would boot right off, sometimes I would spend half an hour rebooting after the boot crash.

I've already asked about it in my last post but I'll ask especially you again: what do you suggest to turn off in BIOS to get iPC 10.5.6 booted?

D630 & iATKOS sucks! :)

Thanks to zerostar1979 I got rid of "waiting for boot device", but now during system startup blue background appears for 1sec and the display turns off. I tried installations with and without Intel X3100 driver, and -x safe mode startup.
