seanmcd
Thanks - I didn't realize there were any issues with the harddrives showing up as orange as my HDD performance has been great (and if I recall correctly, I thought I read a post from Kalyway himself stating it was fine). I will try those two kexts although I almost don't want to as everything is running top notch. I have zero networking issues, even after sleeping (P35-DS3P v1.0). The only real issue I still have is the shutdown. Every now and then it shuts down normal, but usually it doesn't. I am using Vista less and less again. May buy another Raptor as I'm actually using what is supposed to be a spare drive for my NAS device. I'm just trying to work this out as it is very strange that the apple dvd player will play a dvd in the dvd drive but not a video-ts from the hard disk. I'm trhinking its a kext clash but not sure what to remove. mohkahn
Sorry in Advance, if my questions are well..... not proper: so please pm me, if you like, I don't want to pm anyone without their permission, as they might not feel ok about it.. but all help is useful. 1) After fresh install this morning, I did the terminal command for "while sleep 1" and then ran the combo. contrary to suggestions, I had not let the first terminal alone, so it had some codes like illegal action etc.. then I opened new window and tried to do the sudo nano command, and it just would not open.. no matter how many times i tried.. so I restarted and restarted 2nd time and now I have 10.5.2.. and my key in system library might still be that of hackintosh I guess.. 2)i tried to burn 5 adobe master disks, using toast, (i had spent 3 x 24 hour to get the 16.5gb adobe) but while buring the 2nd disk, when it is almost complete, pc freezes and asks me to reboot..so I wasted 4 DVDr's cos of that, so my guess is that the copy from the net is not correct... so the questions a)here is has anyone tried a copy that they bought from outside, fake or real which works on hackintosh? b)the bay copy that I have asks me to replace my smbios.kext, should I do that or is it dangerous, since it comes with the disk? 3) if the reboot message was due to 10.5.2, then I have used pc now for almost 30 mins and no reboot message.. it could be either Toast titanium or the files that I downloaded from the net.. or it could be that the file I downloaded for kalyway10.5.2.combo was not the right file, since it was only 340, instead of 343. don't know the reason.. please elaborate. thanks.. Brass
I have found that my hackintosh will shut down every time if time machine is off and once you click shutdown, wait four seconds then hit okay. It works every time. Also just an update I followed this guide for the install and it worked perfectly. I have also updated to 10.5.2 with these same directions and it was successful. Everything seems to be working great. Thanks again for the guide. memix
Hello i am new to osx86 . The past few days i am trying to install KALYWAY 10.5.1 to my pc.I have two sata disks , in the first one i have windows ( 2 partitions ) and in the second one i made one partition so i can install osx86 ( 3 partitions ) . My computer is an intell 6750 , gigabyte p35C-ds3 , 2 sata hd , 2 dvd-rw (ide) , ati x1950 pro , 2 gb memory 1066 . I did the install and after the restart when the computer boots ( from the second hd ) and the macos is starting after a few seconds a message pops saying that i have to restart the computer. Anty ideas what to do ? Again I tried to do the install , and again its the same . The moment the macos boots from the hd for the first time after a few seconds a message pops ups saying that i have to restart the computer. when i used the -v option when the computer boots its stops the moment that the kernel is loading. Any ideas? Thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83689-how-to-install-on-gigabyteasuscompatible-boards/page/15/#findComment-626804 Share on other sites
dci693
Holy smokes. After applying the 10.5.2 update using the tutorial instructions (not the Kalyway combo file) my sleep and shut down actually work. Holy cow. I want to run some more tests before I get really happy, but this is better than what I had before. I'm running on a DS3L board, installed using mtotho's amazing guide. mtotho
@mohkan... do you have 4gb of ram? that could explain for kernel panics when burning DVDs also the smbios is the kext that helps display system hardware information.. you should update it with the one in my tutorial in the "how to fix about this mac" section. mohkahn
@mtotho: thank you. I went out a bought a new pc for vista / xp usage. And took out one 1gb ram from kalyway.. so system is much slower, but it's much better. I also bought this new card for kalyway.. 8400gt.. it gives me transparency. and more features. pity can't afford 8800gt like you. installed v.31 of NVInstaller and everything is set to go.. now about to do install kalywaycomboupdate.. I asked, but noone replied. is it better and safer compare to the original from apple's website? mtotho
Well, if you look in my first post, i give a tutorial on how to edit the about this mac values... basically just go to that same path .. /system/library/coreservices then right click login window and show package contents. Then go to Resources. In this folder you will see a bunch of of images and folders. You will see a MacOSX.tif file.. that is all u have to replace. I will make a Gigabyte one. Pandar
Hi I followed the guide in this thread to install leopard on a Ga-P35-ds3L . I've upgraded to 1.5.2 and everythings working, except I need more than 2 sata ports. I did the install in AHCI mode, even though I was warned that I would be limited to 2 SATA ports. It sounded safer in some ways, expecially with regard to memory and kernel panics. Has anyone in my situation successfully added SATA pci cards? If so, and it worked, what brand or model did you get? I'd appreciated\ any help I can get. Thanks Pandar Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83689-how-to-install-on-gigabyteasuscompatible-boards/page/15/#findComment-627583 Share on other sites
mtotho
AHCI doesnt make a difference on this board. It does on other but not this. It does fix the ram.. but you can just flag maxmem=3072 or something like that. You can safely disable AHCI in the middle of an install. dukebound85
First off, thanks for this awesome guide! I have osx running nearly perfect in a tri boot of vista and xp. However the best way i could do this is to have leopard on its own disk and vista/xp on one. When I tried all on same disk, I could not boot into windows just some fyi My setup is a q6600 msi 8800gt 512 4gig 800mhz ram ds3l mb However, I am unable to get sound to work, which is a slight bummer. I tried your method in the guide many times and while the speaker icon can go up and down incrmentally, the sound is not present. I did plug in the HD speaker wire as oppossed to the AC'97 one. Any suggestions on what the issue may be? Thanks!
