  1. kakewalk, Possible to get necessary files for GA-EP35-DS3L integrated into your package? It was the most common board before people started using EP-45-UD3P. My build is running fine at 10.6.6, using PC-EFI method, made by a nice guy called mosslack and it was mosslack, who recommended I try your simple solution. But when I tried the kit, you made, I realized it does not support my motherboard G(A-EP35-DS3L). Thanks and only if it's not too much trouble.
  2. Kalewalk: No Support for EP35-DS3L? that is one of the first and most successfully hacked board of all times and it's not even that old. I have another motherboar G41m-ES2L, but it's from Biostar not from Gigabyte, will it work with your kakewalk 3.0?
  3. Hey WeakSauce, Damn excited to hear that you are almost done with boot 132. God Bless you buddy, and give you lots good children and lotsa money. Can't wait to try it man. Now Few questions: 1) I have got a Mac OSX 10.5.4 9E25 retail.dmg (is this the correct retails dvd version?) or do we need to get another version. Since it's weekend, so perhaps we can try to get it as most of us don't have to work so we can be ready for boot 132 method on monday. Then I converted this image to .iso on windows and burnt it to dual layer disk (as it is 7+ GB), i was hoping to follow this guide, http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=113288 but this guide and many others are so confusing. 2) I also tried to use this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0tmkFOzPI4 to make my old usb harddrive to become bootable (using the above Mac OSX 10.5.4 retail image) but once mac starts the writing process, the harddisk just freezes and does not let mac write anything to it. Anyway, this one not important.. 3) Thirdly, as mentioned the above Image I burnt using imgburn, but it does not get recognized in both vista and kalyway mac. KalyMac says it's empty and vista says I don't have permission to even see what's on it, (and when I restart both of these systems with this dual layer disk on it (booting from cdrom), both of the PC's can't pick up anything from cd rom eventhough I burnt it on vista. The disk itself looks to have been burnt successfully, guessing from the surface. Do we need special software to see if the disk has been burnt successfully? The image that I have seems to be correct and in fine version. But Let's assume if not, then how can I make sure that we have successfully burnt a dual layer dvd that I will be able to use when using boot 132 method. Hope you will put some instructions on doing this step, as DL disks here are one time use only and each one costs like a 2USdollars. So don't want to be burning too much money on burning disks. Well, I am guessing your guide would already have addressed the above mentioned issues, so my questions are not very serious. Meanwhile, if you have time, please also PM me the 99% finished version of your boot132 guide Thank you. Maybe I can start working on it tonight or tomorrow morning. MAC OSX (KALYWAY 10.5.5, Using WeakSauce Installation Guide +Netkas Method) Bios F6beta for MotherBoard GA-EP35-DS3L. E6550 Intel. 4gb RAM. 160Gb HardDisk and cheap 256MB Nividia Card. Everything working perfectly and fine (Sound, Graphics, Lan, Mouse, Keyboard, Shutdown, restart, I don't use sleep)
  4. Pirloui, I am guessing we are using different methods to install and run the system since I have no problem booting from harddisk even without the kalyway disk being in the cdrom. And since I am not sure. which thread has link to chameloen software and the guide, so if you can direct me to the right thread, would give it a try and post feedback. Thanks for the effort.
  5. [quote Chameleon works great without boot1h, which I didn't figure out what to do with. Thanks to everyone in the community. Pirloui: I am using exact same boat with same bios. It is rev.1. May I request how you installed chameleon without boot1h? Does it help in something to install it? Thanks.
  6. """""I love to tinker, but I'd also like a no-headaches machine. EFI-X gives me the best of both worlds...a DIY PC but without the headaches of Hackintosh. I would definitely say, to anyone who can afford it, get an EFI-X and a compatible motherboard like the EP45-DS3R. It "just works" """" Great great review WeakSauce.. But man, some of us can't afford this damn cool thing.. So please don't give up on tinkering with the old methods of running the system and putting small guides for us (e.g. 10.5.5.) as a lot of us have greatly benefited from your help. I know if I were you, I would also just use the EFI-X system and have no worries about ever on tinkering with other options, but just do remember us, the poor guys with our minimac inspirations and our mini pockets
  7. Vow Man, take it easy on yourself. It's good to put yourself on a time frame for a hobby that you love and many hundreds if not thousands benefiting from it, but also do take care of your health. And so that's why I recommend that you divide your hobby into 1) Very important stuff: (stuff that's critical for a running system on a day to day basis or stuff cos of which system might get broken if not take care of) 2) General Benefit stuff: Stuff for the general benefit of the system, like moving to chameleon, or boot 132, (i have not much idea what they are though, but seems they are complimentary to making the system run much better and smoother, so this step can be # 2) 3) Beautifying the system stuff: And stuff that can be done later, like beautifying the system, making the icons better, etc. etc... I am not trying to be condescending, just wish you well as it seems you have got yourself on a very tight schedule. (or maybe not, if you are very fast with your hobby. } Anyway... Best of luck to us all. cheers.
  8. Weaksauce, thanks for the effort. Yes, please do work on a more detailed guide. Much Appreciated. Since some of the following points are not very clearly put for newbies like us. I do have a working 10.5.5 delta update though using netkas method explained by OneTrack on this page or page 40 back and so far no problems. But as a newbie we would not know what might have we screwed up using that method, since your guide below seems far too long and complicated, so it gives me reason for concern, that I might have messed up the system or might have missed something. Please put the following in details if you can.. Greatly appreciated. Thanks and cheers.
  9. Has anyone of your guys gone ahead with 10.5.5 as per darkSamus's instructions? if yes, then how successful is it? Well, I could not hold my self from updating, so happy to report, that using OneTrack's instructions and partly following Netkas's method, System is successfully updated to 10.5.5 without any problem and no additional kext were installed afterward (Sound, Lan, DVD and most software that are important to me are working so far without a glitch). I say partly cos even though i tried to follow all the steps (as tormentor suggested), there simply wasn't a line with DON'T steal mac osx to be replaced in the nano terminal (/System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1) I don't know why, but it just wasn't there. Sleep I don't use, restart and shutdown work fine so far. I do have the following problem, would be wonderful, if someone can help on englightening me: my system can recognize 4gb but system preference does not show any more details about the ram, like how many mhz. etc. System: kalyway 10.5.5. witn 9.5 darwin. Mobo: GA-EP35-DS3L. Rev. 1. CPU: E2180 (going to replace it with E6550 from my windows machine) Rest of the stuff are not too important I guess. All sata drives though.
  10. oops.. yup. good idea, will keep quite till he shows up with 10.5.5. candies.. then will give him a big hug.. what a nice dude...
  11. Hey Dci693? Any news on 10.5.5? On this thread here "" http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=126268 "" lots of people have already updated it, some are having problem, some are very happy. Since we totally followed weaksauce's guide, so i wonder how we should updated our systems to 10.5.5...
  12. Hey Man WeakSauce, where is your butt? let me come to kiss it for you, so that you can put that 10.5.5. instructions soon. Guess you are in a different timezone. Hurry up dude I can't hold my pee due to over excitement. best of luck with good testing though.
  13. Sorry dci693, don't know how to quote you properly, so just going to do it as following: ""Probably not. But that's very weird that you didn't have to install them to begin. Are you sure you've got the same board as the rest of us? "" Yup, I am using exact same MB (GA-EP35-DS3L) and followed all of weaksauce's instructions, so it's weird alright. Really can't explain it. Off course there is one % chance of me not remembering and installing the sound kext at the very beginning of installation. But that's just 1% chance... ""I know there's a PS/2 issue starting with 10.5.4 that you need a patch for. However you're having imtermittent issues with both devices, right?"" Yes. Sometimes mouse freezes, sometime KB, but over the last 2-3 days it has not happened, and both are working fine. But incase they start acting up, where do you think I should look for the related kexts? and what would be the names or the kexts or perhaps names of the kext issuers? Thanks. "I remove video drivers by booting into safe mode with -x, follow the directions so you can write to your drive, go to the root of your OSX drive and run the movevideodrivers script file" Sorry I am total noob, I will give your above instructions a try, but little more info will be very helpful, for e.g 1) how can I write to drive? and how to go to root? and where will be the movievideodrivers script, etc and do I remove both of them first and then restart system in normal mode and install v.52 kext again? Thanks. "I don't think single-channel should cause any issues" OK, for ram, will keep looking around for more solutions..For now will have to put up with 3gb ram without any more info. it's weired, cos my other MB will show 4gb, and using maxmem's entry, it will work at 3gb, but will still show ram as 4gb. anyway.. "I saw on the other thread that you use the psystar kext to fix restart. Excellent!" Yes. it was perfect timing and it's a joy to be able to restart without having to do cold reboot. I read weaksauce is soon gonna be putting up 10.5.5, let's hope it makes it much more stable system to work with. I am finally glad I bought this MB... there were only few left in my town.. they said, it's old.. i say, old is gold for me..
  14. WeakSauce " Stella mentioned that Pystar has released an awesome new kext: http://www.psystar.com/openhaltrestart.html Eliminates the need for CHUD & the Shutdown kext, and works much faster too "" Do you mean to say that we should uninstall chud and install pystar kext? how do we go about doing that? How to uninstall chud and install this pystar, or do we not need to worry about uninstalling chud and just should install pystar on top of it now? Thanks... I have ALMOST perfect install, but restart does not work, after either 10.5.4 delta update or after doing the minor updates of small programs.. Will request for help later. JUST NOW, installed pystar's kext and RESTART IS WORKING BOYS. Voila..
  15. Hello dci693. Thanks for the questions: 1 ) Yes I remember well, I did not install the kexts for sound at the time of installation, since I knew i would be installing them later, but once I saw that sound was working, so I did not bother. And similarly for the Lan, since it was working, so did not install RTL kexts. Do you think the restart could have been affected, since I did not install these 2 kexts? 2) No, I am using ps2 keyboard and USB mouse. Do I must use a usb keyboard also? I have an old apple usb keyboard, it has very short cable so I must sit too close to the screen in order to use it, so I don't prefer to use it. It works OK, but when I want to install the system, it does not get recognized. 3) my card does not get recognized well, since I installed the kexts from mtotho's guide of PUNK V.1.92 and those kexts did not help in changing the display in anyway, i was still using 1024 x 768 resolution, but i did not uninstall those kexts before installing kexts from v.52Nvidia installer, since I did not know how, can you advise how i can uninstall both of them and then only re-install v.52 kexts? thanks. Maybe that could be my problem: System Profile shows as following: Graphics by NVIDIA: Chipset Model: Graphics by NVIDIA Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0422 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: NVinject 0.2.1 Displays: L1953TR: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported L1953TR: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported 4) Thanks for your explanation on AHCI + 4gbRam + Kernel Panic connection. I am sure I am using 4GB ram, but will run memtest and the other tool from weaksauce's guide to make sure that ram is not faulty. And also is it possible, if I am using ram of 2 gb, that maybe single channel (since it's from 2 different brands) that I am having this problem? Anyway I am going to post photos of my bios in the following post. And..... 5) I did 100% follow weaksauce's instructions, but restart stopped working after apple's minor update? Any idea how I can fix that? Thanks for all the help again. Sorry, I tried, but was not able to attach BIOS photos. So don't know how I can send them to you for now...
