sorry guys, it is late, i cannot really answer much questions this second.

All of insanely mac uploads/downloads are not working (hence the audio patcher, and bios pictures) I assume that this issue will be resolved soon. In the mean time, i regret to say that i do not have the audio patcher or the text file on my computer(had it on a removable usb drive.. which appears to be disfunctional) .. so you will have to wait for a bit to resolve sound issues. I did however host the asus p5w dh guide (it was on my computer) on rapidshare and mega upload.

Once the uploads are fixed, and i have times, i will mirror every file on the guide, in addition, i will make corrections and addition s to the guide (which i am doing daily as it is).

I hope you guys are taking advantage of the "Tweak" section, to perfect your hackintosh install. good night.

@Black dude. You can install vanilla kernel whenever u want. You do not have to reinstall.

Your Rapidshare account has expired, and your Megaupload link is incorrectly anchored.

@mtotho, thanks for the update on the patch for the ethernet, bonjour is working great. As I type this my install is being back-up through time machine. It seems to be working great.

Should I update to 10.5.2, or stay with what is working great right now? I will update as long as it doesn't mess up any settings/kernals/patches. Which one would you suggest, already downloaded the package from apple. I did the update on my macbook pro, and didn't notice any significant system changes.

Only two things remain a mystery on the machine. My sleep/shutdown/restart are all crazy. Is there a patch that corrects this?

Also I have a D-Link wireless PCI card (DWL G650) that if I could get it to work, would be amazing. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks again for a great guide, really happy with my new machine!!!!

As Tesla suggested, and as I've written about 5x in this thread, try enabling the Onboard LAN Boot ROM. My LAN was working fine in XP, but would not work as soon as I booted into OSX. Flipping that one setting got it to work in OSX.

Yeah, thanks, as you mentioned in that post, I did find what you said and fixed it. Thanks for posting that otherwise I may have given up!

This excellent guide has got me most of the way there. However, not sure how to get my 7300GT graphics going. Just suggesting that somehow we make the section on graphics cards as easy to use as the rest of the guide. The first thread refers me to a website that requires me to install their toolbar just to get the old file from late December. The second starts by saying "get ready for kernel panics" then plunges into a technical discussion about how these are beta drivers and how they don't use EFI (I thought this thread used EFI) etc. Just getting a little gun shy here. How did you get your 6000 or 7000 series nVidia going? I got just about everything else happy, though I'd love to be able to see my display at 1920x1200 instead of 1024x768 which is all it currently offers me.

OK nobody else in this thread had any trouble, so I am going to try the "-Or this may be better as it is Newer, Latest 10.5.2 NVinject Installer" approach. The thread at anandtech says "now to finish this off, the author of that gives multiple drivers for the video card, this is what i used http://scottdangel.com/files/NVInstallerV.33.pkg it will ask you which driver, check the one with 256 vanilla

and it works perfectly" (I have a 7600GT with 256MB, YMMV). I will just check the 2nd box here since I am a virgin install with a 256MB 7300GT graphics. http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1pp1.png

w00t! it worked! (picture not identical to the above, just add one check mark to the existing one and go).

Only issues now are "sleep of death" (I just told it not to sleep though) and restart hangs.

From what i read in these forums ICH9R has a problem with the last 2 ports on the motherboard the purple ones.

It seems the problem is with the JMicron636 controller.

So make sure you dont plug your sata devices to the last 2 ports during install.

I can shed some light on this confusion, a bit of which has infiltrated the guide in the first post.

The JMicron controls the IDE and 2 purple SATA ports. The ICH9 does not control those 2 purple SATA ports.

Gigabyte boards with 4 SATA ports have 2 controlled by the ICH9 and 2 controlled by the JMicron.

Gigabyte boards with 8 SATA ports have 6 controlled by the ICH9 and 2 controlled by the JMicron.

The most accurate thing to say is, don't use the 2 purple SATA ports on Gigabyte motherboards.

There are 2 separate sets of lines in the BIOS for manipulating these.

IMHO if you avoid the purple ports, by all means turn on AHCI.

Need to test this, and need to confirm that the BIOS section about "Internal" SATA refers to the 2 purple JMicron plugs.

Thanks to SticMAN here is or missing HDApatcher 1.20

Worked for me

I've found it http://www.uploading.com/files/E0ULLDWS/Ap..._v1.20.zip.html

Now cross your fingers it works. I'm about to restart.

Sound works!!!!!! At first I got the beeps and no sound from quicktime. I go out to digital speakers. Switched to digital out and everything runs now. Now I just have to figure out Parallels to run XP Pro and Leo together. Thanks!!!!!

Is there some way to use Acronis or something to save off an image of the drive with the successful install? This would just be for personal backup use, it would be wrong to post it on the 'bay...
The free edition of SuperDuper can do this. No need for the 'bay.

I built this setup last night..

I didn't have time to tinker with the install but on my first try with Kalyway the install failed just at the end. I was using Guid partition setup.

I'll have more time to mess with it when i

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20GHz

MotherBoard - Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L

Video Card - XFX Geforce 8400GS 512mb

Memory - OCZ 2GB (2x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400

Dvd-Rw - Lg GSA-H55N Sata Dvd-Rw

Hard Drive - Western Digital 250GB - Sata

Case - Antec Sonata III

I have the P5N-E-SLI with the core 2 duo 2,4 4GB ram(667)

Hdd 1x160(winXP)+250 both sata

Evga 8800GTS640MB

Just after the boot i give this "-v -x cpus=1"

I get the installer and no matter what when im trying to format it gives me an input/output error.

What should i do? any ideas?

I allready trying the diskpart from windows but from the leopard always get the same message.

I have the ToH RC2 disk

mtotho, Awesome post thank you for writing it lots of great information. I'm hoping you can help me out. I trying to get dual boot working. I have a strange setup however! 3 SATA2 Drives. 2 are in RAID 0 and one SATA drive is dedicated for OS X.

This is what I have for my system:

- Motherboard: ASUS P5K3 Deluxe Bios Version #:0604

- Processor: INTEL Q6600 2.4GHz (Overclocked to 3GHz Stable)

- Memory: 4GB Corsair XMS3 TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX

- Videocard: XFX GeForce 8500 GT

Videocard working after applying scottdangel's patch NVInstaller v.33 HERE

- HDD: Seagate SATA2 2 x 500GB - Running Windows XP Pro in RAID 0

- HDD: Western Digital SATA2 500GB - Running OS X

- KALYWAY 10.5.2

- LATEST: 9.2.0 Darwin kernel

I installed Windows XP 1st on my RAID 0 Harddrives. Then went into the BIOS and change RAID to AHCI Mode.

Execute Disable Bit = Enabled, Boot device: SATA DVD then WD HDD. This allowed me to install OS X on my other SATA Drive successfully.

Currenlty the only way I know how to safely boot back into Windows is to change my settings in the BIOS. Its a huge pain. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dual Displays. Anyone got that working? I'm using http://scottdangel.com/files/NVInstallerV.33.pkg on a 7300GT but the OS doesn't notice the second display. This card has 2 DVI plugs on the back of it. The first goes to a VGA adapter and into the one working monitor. The second has a DVI dual-link cable running to the second monitor. Both monitors are Viewsonic/Optiquest Q241wb 1920x1200. I want eight 3840x1200 virtual Spaces... as the song goes, "I can't get the best unless I got... room to move".

@boxeyes I'd ditch the "IDE DVD" and buy a SATA DVD. That oughta fix it. Maybe there are other tricks but that did it for me.

at luh, i believe you can add more than 8 to a single monitor... but as for the dual dvi goes, that is a better question asked on a thread supporting video cards.

@vangel, This guide was not written for SLI/nforce, you may want to take it to a better supported thread.

@luh, thats for the informative to help other people.. although on the DS3L, all ports are orange (atleast mine were).. either way.. the last 2 dont work.

Is your RAID on the JMicron (purple) ports or on the ICH9r (Yellow)?

mtotho, do you mean we should plug in the ethernet cord back in AFTER we choose no networking option, loads into leopard (plug it in) then rebooting or plugging it in after we rebooted into leopard? Just want to be clear on that so none of us mess up that part.

Actually, mine are Black & Red. Red in the manual states that they will be Master Boot Drives.

Black are Slave Data Drives. I've got them all on RED. In the BIOS I have J-Micron eSATA/PATA Controller Disabled. My RAID 0 Drives are on ICH9R Settings but currently disabled. I will take a look at the two links you have provided and let you know how I do. Side note, How do I remove the "can't mount disks/eject" I see this when I 1st boot into Leopard.

Thanks again!
