Paulo-131
Ok i try to sum up : - What did Hellober should work with all Dell Computers (Latitude, Inspiron, Vostro) - After you get that file working, try this one (post 66) : AppleHDA.kext It should add support for headphones and jack input - If it works, try this one (post 83) : AppleHDA.kext It should add support for automatic switch between Headphones and Speakers At this step, Mute and Mic In don't work. - The next file (post 110) : AppleHDA.kext seems to only work on my D830 (it should add Mute and Mic In) If you have post 83 file working, you can try these files: - File 1 : based on post 83 : should work for all who have post 83 working. It doesn't add any feature. - File 2 : should add Mic Input compared to post 83 - File 3 : should add Mute compared to posrt 83 (it s normal if there is not Mic In) Please tell me what files don't work with you. Thanks. Edit : better with files ... AppleHDA1.kext.zip AppleHDA2.kext.zip AppleHDA3.kext.zip

Maybe there is also a difference between Iaktos and Kalyway.

dodo_z
Ok i try to sum up :- What did Hellober should work with all Dell Computers (Latitude, Inspiron, Vostro) Not for me I tried everything discussed in here, but still no success. I have a Dell Vostro 1700 running iAtkos v.1.0, too. Maybe there are different hardware setups or firmware versions used? Hoping for a installer fixing all the probs left
Matteo80
ok, ....with applehda.kext 3 mute button works. ( thanks) internal mic still doesn't work. external mic WORKS with applehda.kext 2 mute button doesn't work, internal mic doesn't work, output ok.I don't know if it is important but with this kext, in "system preferences -----> sound" i can see: "unknow" didn't appear with applehdakext 3 and with applehda.kext topic 83. roneil4
I just wanted to let you know, paulo, that speakers were showing up in my preferences. Screenshots are attached. When I switch output to headphones the headphones work. Also, I tried your automatic switching kext earlier, and it didn't work with my speakers either, but it did automatically switch to the headphones instead of making me doing it manually. This suggests that something may be wrong with the speaker setup. I am also attaching my codec dump from Suse 10.3. Thanks Paulo! codec_dump1.txt

roneil4
rlight, does your system ever hang on shutdown with this kext? My system always hangs on shutdown now, and I want to know if it is something wrong with my setup or if it is a problem more people are having. rlight
roneil4, It usually shuts down but I have to press the power button for 5 seconds to get the power and Bluetooth LED to turn off. Occasionally I will get a kernel panic on shutdown. I use the mach_sleep kernel.
roneil4
That's the same thing that happens to me, it shuts down but still leaves the power light on, but I never get a kernel panic.

roneil4
If you did some research, you would already know what to do with it. People with sigmatel 9200 sound cards should not come here, and their sound cards are already working. Look up AppleHDAPatcher and download the applehdapatcher application. Once you have that, drag the text file onto the application, and it will patch your system. Please don't come here again though, it will only clutter this thread if you make requests about other sound cards.
gerodrx
For the ones asking: First Start at Post #1. Then if you think you cant wait continue reading post 49 or 83 or 110. Small howto for vostro 1500. Download any stac9205.txt or sigmatel9205.txt you find in this thread. Search in this forum an App named: "AppleHDA patcher" from Taruga. Drag and drop your .txt to the icon then after it has finished download the file at post 83 or 49 (83 worked for me) and then Drag and drop at /System/Library/Extensions/ Replace the existing one. Repair Disk permission(at terminal write diskutil repairPermissions / ) and Restart. Voila.... Test your volume up or down and be happy.
