Just want to say thanks for this, took me a day but I got it working.

T42, Pentium M 1.7GHz, SSE2, 1GB ram

Took a few tries to partition it right, the installer stops for a few minutes while booting.

Install options: sse2 and mbr boot.MOVE THE MOUSE DURING INSTALL. I didn't know about htis and my install screwed up the first time. Startup is long, it stops at some point, I have to investigate. Sound works, Videocard is OK, have to tweak it. My atheros wifi isn't working (odd) so I gotta look into that.

Overall, I'm surprised it works as well as it does, I read up to 22 pages of this and 90% of SSE2 experiences were bad

Thanks again.

i installed it, then at the end, i got an error sign something about not making it bootable

and i restarted, it didnt even load grub (i have xp and ubuntu also), and got an b0 error

nvmd, i semi-fixed it

leopard installed good, but b0 error upon boot, i probably need to install grub again. still have my ubuntu cd, but dont know how to just install grub

Installed this version of Leopard on Sony Vaio VGN SZ-240, and it's just great.

Installed it on GUID partition scheme with Vanilla kernel.

I fixed Marvell Yukon 8053 ethernet, and it works now.

Sigmatel sound card works great without any problem.

I think I can safely move away from windows now, but there is just one thing bothers me.

The fan noise in Leopard is just so much louder than the noise in Windows OS.

In windows, I would hear this kinda loud noise only when I am doing some CPU intensive works.

In Mac OS, the fan just runs at its full speed all the time.

Question 1

I read that replacing vanilla kernel with speedstep kernel will allow me to decrease my CPU frequency and thereby decrease the fan speed, but is it the only way to do it?

Is there any way for me to keep the vanilla kernel and decrease the fan speed?

Question 2

During the installation, I choose vanilla kernel package.

So, am I always using vanilla kernel even if didn't press F8 and type -vanilla during booting? Or Do I still have to press F8 and type -vanilla in order for me to use vanilla kernel?

Thank you~

RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS STUFF ADDED TO THE FIRST POST

Some of you doesn't like the modified icons and background we originaly put on Kalyway, so we added an application for restore back the Leopard original look.

If you don't like Apps we added , you can uninstall them easily. Just put them to the trash.

the apps you added to the kalyway release are a big help for mac noobs... i like the kext installer! thanks

how about adding a simple mp3 player, so we don't have to use that retarded itunes software?

is there a plugin that will autohide the toolbar on the bottom of the screen?

etc.

Hello,

I need some help. I have installed this release Mac OS X 10.5.1 Kalyway (thanks kaly) but I think there is a problem on my first booting.

I installed it on an entire Hard Drive of 200GB Western Digital. This HDD only has one Partition in which is installed Mac OS. The partition table is MBR.

When it finished to install Mac successfully I rebooted my PC and then appears Darwin OS selector and the partition on my HDD which is installed Mac, I pushed intro and then it start booting but after 3 o 4 seconds it reboot my PC and don't start loading OSX.

the apps you added to the kalyway release are a big help for mac noobs... i like the kext installer! thanks

thanks, but you know not all peoples thinks like you ;-) some like, some not.

Are you talking about the dock bar ? if it is, go to the preferences and choose dock. Just check "Automatically hide and show the Dock"

well could you give me exactly your BCM 57xx model , and if possible its PCI ID ? you can obtain this in windows.thx

For the 3945Ag, we should wait, i know someone work on it.

Hey Dune thanks for your responce! I appriciate you taking the time to answer, I have read all the way through all 43 pages of this topic and you have been steadily working to help people out so it is appriciated.

I have the Broadcom 57xx. I am not quite sure which model it is specificaly (I have tried to use the 5701 kextr and the 5725 kext to no avail) But I do have the hardware ID info...

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600&SUBSYS_01CC1028&REV_02

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600&SUBSYS_01CC1028

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600@CC_020000

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600&CC_0200

I have added 1600 to the end of both kexts that I have found in the forums and the device still states failed in the network properties.

Thanks!

Anthony

thx it is exactly what i want, did you try to insert your ID in those kexts ?

if not i will do it and post them on rapidshare

Edit: didn't see the first time i read your post that you did it sorry...

Hello, i try to install Kalyway 10.5.1 for Intel SSE2 and SSE3 on my computer...

It starts upp perfectly and i came to the plase to make Partition and what stuff....

I have a SATA drive with C: NTFS (Boot, and XP).. and one D: NTFS (Programs and stuff).

I also got 1 partition for Linux witch i now have maked a MS-DOS (FAT32) partition of.

Anyway, WHEN i have get into Leopard installer and Disk Utility i see my whole disk and my C: and D: with correct names and sizes....

The FAT32 parttions is also visible but then i try to format it as an Mac partition, nothing happends it says it erases but nothing happend...

If i try tro format it as MS-DOS it succes but not as Mac partition..

Does somone have a conclusion.? i have also tired iATKOS 1.0 and it's the same problem where.

/M

Edit: didn't see the first time i read your post that you did it sorry...

Yeah I am thinking of picking up a usb ethernet port and see if that works. I have had the worst luck with the ethernet on this laptop, it didnt work with Tiger either.

Let me know if you run across anything, and thanks for looking it.

A.

Looks like the more and more I use Leopard on my machine, i get more and more dissapointed that its just an illusion of a working OS...

QE/CI are definitely not working on my GMA900 like i had initially thought...

Movie playback is fine on Quicktime, but it stops playing within a minute, VLC won't even run the movie, and MPlayer kills the framerate...

iWork '08 doesn't work at all, which was an issue that some others were having to see if they had QE/CI.

Weird thing is, the minimize Genie effect is working fine, and so is the dock animation....

I hope a GMA900 can be figured out :S apparently there's a mysterious driver in Kaly's old Leopard build, which has now perished apparently lol..

But until then, it looks like its back to 10.4.10 ;)

Any thoughts on this???

Hi there,

I have just installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on my HP nx9420 successfully at last!

I had some problems with blinking cursors, and hang during boot (ZIndex) etc.

So I tried to install it with less drivers and it worked!

I installed it without any drivers for: Graphics (ATI x1600), Sound (Adi) or Network (Intel Pro)

(btw. I installed it on a separat harddisk, not vmware)

Disable Dual Core in the bios setup.

Boot on DVD.

Press F8, type: -v

Use Diskutil to remove whatever is on the harddisk, and create a new partition and use Guid (not Mbr).

Format the harddisk.

I only checked the Vanilla kernel and Vanilla ACM stuff, thats it, nothing more!

Did some small tests, and reboot, shutdown works perfekt. Sleep does nothing!?

Bluetooth works!

I offcourse have no network, sound and I have only 1024x768 resolution and only a single core cpu. ;)

But I will now try to fix this.

Excellent work dune and kal!

Cheers

- Carlberg

Okay the search engine on this site officially SUCKS B@LLZ!..

I can't seem to get the Battery Status Icon with this Release. Has anyone else had this issue and was there something I need to do differently to get around it?

Sorry if this was already covered but there are 43 pages and I searched Keyword "BATTERY" but got no hits.

THanks!

i'm having the problem after install the bootloader comes up then after that it restarts, so i tried the dvd's bootloader and i can some thing about can't find com.apple.boot.plist

Your Dvd drive can't read the the disk, I had the same problem... I install it with external dvd drive'

seems like graphics card problem.

Someone in this topic called iTunes a retarded software. lol

It is, if not, the best, mp3 player, converter, out there as i see it.

Compare it to Win Media Player 11 or some other {censored}. I really don´t get those people that complain about iTunes. Sorry.

If i now just could get the Kalyway 10.5.1 dvd to work for me. :D

Could someone give some tips for safe burning?

Maybe my image do have some errors? Using MBR EFI install always goes thru fine, but after restart it shows black screen and a blinking cursor. It does this for Tiger too, but not for this long. With this install it just stays there forever it seems. It´s more then 30 min so it´s screwed somehow. Is Toast Titanium 8 better then Discutility for burning this DVD or other images safely?

Some images i have burnet in the past, could not go thru the verify process 100% in Discutility, but still worked fine and showed no errors at all.

All this was in Tiger 10.4.10. I already wasted a few DVD´s. I still got the torrents from correct sites they were released on.

Very confusing and frustrating with Leopard so far..

Hey all,

I have a dual boot with Vista and I use EasyBCD to switch between Vista and Leo, but I noticed that the entry showed "bootloader path: \NST\nst_mac.mbr"

Does anyone know how to change this to the GUID option so I can boot back into Leo?

Thanks,
