i have an interesting observation about this Leo distro.

first of all i want to thank the whole team who made it possible. great job, this is the best osx86 distro ever, everything works right after install!!!

never happened before.

and now, what i found out about "sleep", "restart" and "shut down" functions.

BIOS settings are very crucial for proper operation. i'm talking about CPU and Power settings.

i tried both, default and vanilla, kernels and noticed that depending on one particular setting in BIOS the system can go haywire: no sleep, ne restart, kernel panic, even constant reboot. so, pay extra attention to that.

what i still can't figure out is why my Vanilla install option doesn't restart but it sleeps pretty well thou.

I must be using a really obscure Intel motherboard i guess...

Thanx for not a single reply, or a clue, hint, to my problem.

I appreciate it!

Great community!

Hey man, don't be so nervous lol.

I could not answer to all questions, you know. i did a lot but i have a no computer life too lol.

Sorry! ;)

I´m just destroyed inside. lol

Not sure what it can be, but i just can´t get it to work at all. I have tried both GUID and MBR installs, but with GUID i get a yellow triangle at the end of install.

MBR install seems fine till the end and shows a green icon being checked. After restart i only have a black screen with a blinking cursor.

That is all i get. I have now tried so many times i´m out of energy. lol

I just don´t know what to do.

What should i set in BIOS, and in install, to have a working Leopard install?

Please let me know working solutions for both GUID and MBR installs, and also BIOS settings i should have.

I will also redownload the image and this time burn it in Vista just as an experiment. Burning of the image went fine in Tiger with DiscUtility and Toast by the way.

Can it still be some errors on the image that won´t showin OS X?

Thanx! :)

Just installed this. Works perfectly - almost. I have to put the DVD in for startup. I've repartitioned the harddrive as MBR and chose that option in the "customize" screen, so booting from the HD should, basically, work. Well, it doesn't, somehow. :/ Any ideas how to redo the MBR-booting part after an otherwise successful installation? I don't want to start over, seeing how I chose the right things, too. (The GUID thing didn't work at all for me, but I don't care about that much.)

Just installed on my ASUS P5W DH and finally saw the efi patch work - have never been able to get it to work using the BrazilMac DVD (but did get BrazilMac to run using patched kernel and DVD left in drive) - always stopped cold trying to boot from hd with boot.plist error. Now when booting from the hard drive after waiting the 5 seconds I get past the white Apple screen and see the mouse pointer show up on a black screen then nothing...it just stops. If I use the -x flag from the boot loader I can successfully start in Safe Mode but that is the only way I can start OSX. The video card is beng recognized as a Geforce 7300GT - what else would cause it to stop like this?

By the way NICE job putting this image together and kudos to all the guys that have successfully got their machines running....hopefully I will join those ranks soon!

did you use Nvinject or Natit ?
I dont see any option in the bio to disable WLAN... I've tried to go into the startup folder but mine is empty!? I re-added the ethernet corresponding to my WLAN, but now the realtek wlan utility pops up everytime I start cuz I didnt use it:picture1ym2.th.pngI tried to close it but when I hover my mouse to quit it (no icon at the dock when its open) by clicking the floating menu on top of my screen, it just turn back into finder, can't even force quit it...
Turn it off with the activity monitor. it is a bug , sometime this windows appears without his corresponding icons in the dock
RTFM see post #469

I've got the same problem. Everything went fine, till Leopard has to load the start-up screen. Sometimes it goes black with the cursur, somethings it's getting blue

Point is, safe mode does work.

- I did delete the entire hdd with the Zero option, did install it with guid and mbr; both have the same problem.

- I did install with drivers & i did install without drivers, still the same problem.

- I did install new drivers (NVinject 2.0), but i still got the problem.

No-one that solved this problem jet?

did you chose GUID partiton table into diskutility when you have formated your drive ?for BIOS setting look , me and Roots2 gave some exemple for P5W and P5K. Try to find the similar options in your biosgive me exactly what are your pheripherals : GFX , CPU and onboard sound and i will help you in the choices you must do with the installer

no that's not at all the same problems , your first sectors are ok !!when i talk about blinkin cursor , that's just before booting on HD. In this case leo doesn't boot at all ! Did you try with Natit or Nvinject ?

Ok, ok. I did try NVinject (1.3, 1.5 & 2,0)

I will try Natit in couple of minuts

Thanks for the fast answer btw :)

Natit site says:

Non-Working Cards: 7900GTO - "Just hangs when attempting to load loginWindow.app. Not working with Titan also'. That's (i guess?) the problem i have.

I did flash my GFX card also, before i installed NVinject.kext.

Pretty desperate ;)

I used NVinject...had previously used Natit and had same problem...

try to install without video drivers. and if your install goes ok , i recommand you to go to the Gotoh "NVinject" website.you will find help i think there

Okay. Apart from no-one answering my previous post... Is there any simple way to restore Leopard's default icons easily? I hate how this distro tries to be innovative in this case. Do I *really* have to somehow extract every single icon from a real Leo installation and change stuff by hand? In Kaly's 10.4.x release, there at least was Candybar installed which helped removing their funky stuff...

hi guys,

anyone experiencing mouse tearing with nvidia 7600gt? Also evry single time i boot into leopard i have to press f8 and then type -f. If i don't do that, viarhine.kext is not loaded, and network won't work. Happened in tiger 10.4.11 also.

A mistery!

Any idea guys? Kaly, maybe u can mate!

Thanks in advence

ps. also a few issues with office 2008, as sometimes crashes!

download CandyBar Demo , and do a restore icon , and restore dock. that's all

Alex,You system is at least simplar to mine Dell i9300. My Kally Install thread.I can't say I had the same problem. Mine did not get as far as the blue installer screen. My question to you is:Did you use the -legacy boot option? Mine did not need that boot option for the dvd, however the post install needs that option. If you get further, you might want to NOT select any video drivers at the installer. My lockups were the video dirver themselves. When I installed with no video drivers, I goot a clean install with no lockups.

I used various combinations of the following options:

-v

-r (no idea what it does)

-legacy

-x (safe mode)

platform=X86PC (disables ACPI)

"Graphics Mode"="1280x800x16"

Only one combination, "-x -r", produced a different result - and that was a Kernel Panic

Do I have to repack the DVD to remove the video drivers, or is there a boot switch to go in plain VGA mode?

Blinking cursor fix:

Blinking cursor happens because the apple bootloader isn't loading. To fix this, you need to dd over the bootloader to the beginning sectors of the harddrive. This is also needed if you install another os such as xp/vista on another partition after you've already installed osx (whether guid or mbr) because other operating systems replace the bootloader.

Boot a leo install disk and first unmount all partitions on the drive you're booting from. Use diskutility, or in terminal type:

diskutility unmount disk0s1

Note: replace 0 and 1 with your appropriate disk and partition(s)

After that's done, open terminal and type:

dd if=./boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1

Where X is the # of your disk (disk0 if its the first harddrive)

You need the file boot0 to do this, and you need to cd to the directory where you have this file. You can get it in the efi pack in the first post of the thread below and put it on a usb drive, or it is probably somewhere on the kalyway dvd. Also see the thread below for more information on this. You could try the other things too if EFI isn't working properly. But dd boot0 and you will at least get rid of the blinking cursor problem.

got to your network preference. Delete all enties with "-". and readd the 3 ethernet with the +.now it should work
thx. :) about my other problem. could I simply re-install the "BOOT_efi_mbr.pkg" file? What would that do exactly?
see my post #469 or try if you do not want to reinstall the other method described by mickles in post #792.

i get this after boot...

Yes, i did. I did check those examples. My BIOS is really very simple and don´t have many of the options others have, some of the settings i see for the in BIOS for the Asus P5W DH Deluxe i do not have. Should Virtualization be on?

I did try both Natit and Nvinject. The only thing i have changed so far in my BIOS with OSX x86, is to set drivemode to AHCI.
