I installed it...everything works fine except NETGEAR wg311t and the soundcard(889a and one PCI soundcard which supports OSX)...and I follow the tutorial of http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...100#entry527766 for wg311t...nothing happened...installed the driver for my PCI soundcard(echo mona)...nothing happened either...also the system shows no PCI card installed...so i am wondering anything wrong with my PCI slots configuration? anyone can explain and give a hand pls? Thanks

Hello,

I have GF8800GTS card with 640MB of vram and in system information I see 256MB how can I fix that?

Use the package described here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=65849

Couldn't be easier.

Further, I just wanted to report a successful install on my machine (see sig). Ethernet worked out of the box, video required the package I linked to above, and audio (ALC889a) required this kext:

http://rapidshare.com/files/51585161/alc889a.zip.html (installed using kext helper)

I found that link in this thread:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69316

Make sure you get that kext, and not the other one linked in the thread. That one only gave me audio output, but no mic support. I do get mic support with the linked kext.

I didn't install video, audio or network drives during the DVD install. I only checked vanilla kernel & acpi fix, and the EFI boot package for MBR. I had to use MBR because I'm booting Vista from a partition on the same drive, which I don't think is possible with GPT (right?).

Everything works, including sleep, wake up (which doesn't even work on Vista or Ubuntu, and it's very fast ;) ), reboot and shut down. CI/QE works perfectly, and full 320MB video memory is reported.

I just have two tiny issues:

  • Networking works, but it's not 100%. We have an Airport in our network here, which doesn't show up in finder. Also, my roommate's iMac doesn't show up either. The Airport configuration app also can't find the Airport, and I don't see shared iTunes libraries on our network (both these things do work in Vista! ). I think Bonjour is not working properly. Anybody have any ideas?
I can still connect to the iMac and the Airport if I explicitly use afp://[iP], but it's annoying me. :P(Solved by using the open source Realtek driver after reading this thread. There's an issue with losing your DHCP info after waking up from sleep, but I'm using static IP now.)
  • Just like gtmini in post #818, I'd like to make the darwin boot loader go straight to booting Leopard, or at least have that as the default option, right now it boots Vista by default, so unless I interrupt it, it goes: Vista loader -> Darwin loader -> Vista Loader etc.
How do I change the darwin boot loader options?

Anyway, this release is great, and I'm really happy with my spiffy Hackintosh. Thanks to all involved!

Edit: if anybody wants to know my BIOS settings for this board, just ask.

Someone in this topic called iTunes a retarded software. lol

It is, if not, the best, mp3 player, converter, out there as i see it.

Compare it to Win Media Player 11 or some other {censored}. I really don´t get those people that complain about iTunes. Sorry.

If i now just could get the Kalyway 10.5.1 dvd to work for me.

Could someone give some tips for safe burning?

Maybe my image do have some errors? Using MBR EFI install always goes thru fine, but after restart it shows black screen and a blinking cursor. It does this for Tiger too, but not for this long. With this install it just stays there forever it seems. It´s more then 30 min so it´s screwed somehow. Is Toast Titanium 8 better then Discutility for burning this DVD or other images safely?

Some images i have burnet in the past, could not go thru the verify process 100% in Discutility, but still worked fine and showed no errors at all.

All this was in Tiger 10.4.10. I already wasted a few DVD´s. I still got the torrents from correct sites they were released on.

Very confusing and frustrating with Leopard so far..

See post #469 please

See post #469 please

I see!

I will do that, and do a new install. I really hope it works well this time.

I did download it again, and just in case, did another DVD at lowest speed with burning wich is x4, and now i hope to have success!

I´ll get back to you if it fails.

Thanx! :)

I installed this, first time as GUID or w/e and with the vanilla kernels and it was on constant reboot without the DVD in, but with the DVD in it said "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found". . Second time, same but MBR and it was on constant reboot without the DVD in, but with the DVD in it said "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found". Third time I installed it as GUID without the vanilla kernels and then after installation it boots too the Apple screen, but then it says to reboot your computer. Now what do I do?

I installed using kaly but my hackintosh restarts as soon as it starts to load, any idea why?
after installation, get reboot and reboot again
Try booting w/ the -f flag...I HAVE to use that or just get immediate reboots. I added it to my com.apple.Boot.plist so I don't have to worry about it.
Hello,Anyone could tell me if there are drivers of GeForce 8600 GT for Leopard 10.5.1 ?If there not, what I can do for set another resolution to my display ? I only have one option, 1024x768.Thanks people.
You need NVinject 0.2.0 and the unreleased 10.5.2 kexts/frameworks. Someone made an all-in-one installer for it: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=78033#

Im still having problems booting,

the mac says

Using SMBIOS table found at 0x0 <-- some hex value here

Using ACPI RSDP revision 0 found

STarting Darwin/x86

then it restarts, Ive had leapard working using the brazilmac method so my hardware should be compatible.

Do I need to install one of the drive efi, mbr or guid. I used mbr but didnt do anything like this on my previous installs os osx

Thanks for the help

Phil

I've just tried to install Leopard on a clean HP a6220 PC with MBR, but after reboot I only see a blinking cursor. Help? ^^ SATA ist Set to ACHI.

The PC Conatns a MoBo with 945G Chipset, 2Ghz Core2Duo and 2 Gig of Ram. Gfx is a Radeon HD3850.

which video driver should i use for ati radeon hd2600xt?thanks!Try with mbr without vanilla, worked on my dp35dp, but i get stucked after the reboot on the apple welcome screen. After "do not transfer my information now" it starts again with "Welcome, in which region are ..." in an loop. -> any suggestions?

I had this too with iatkos. i did boot from dvd again and did repair permissions at harddisk. and the issue had gone.

First of all, thanks go to everyone involved in finally releasing an easy installer that replaces the 3 reboots (partition, install, patch) and other manual processes for getting 10.5.1 running.

I've been running OSx86 since the beginning and on this computer, was recently running 10.5.1 via the patched EFI bootload process. I know that it works on this hardware. With this release, though, if I check off nothing but the two Vanilla options and the GUID Bootloader (on a GUID formatted volume, of course) and nothing else (to eliminate the possibilities of a bad video or sound driver) the install completes, the computer reboots, and I'm hung up on the gray Apple logo.

If, on the other hand, I do the same, and check off only the first Vanilla (not the ACPI fix one), despite the instructions to select both, I end up with a computer that boots just fine into the setup, plays the welcome song/video, goes through the initial setup, and then after the "don't copy from another Mac" screen, delays and then starts the music/video welcome again.

I've verified the BIOS settings and read everyone else's response on the 11 pages prior to this post but didn't see anything like that. Am I missing something obvious? Is it possibly because I'm NOT installing any video driver that I'm locking up?

(Dell Precision 690 w/dual quad Xeons, 8 GB RAM, GeForce 7600 GS, and AudioAdvantage USB sound because I could never get the Dell built-in audio working on any OSx86 release)

You can fix this: reboot from dvd and repair permissions. App...SMBIOS.kext has wrong permissions.

I can't install on my VAIO VGN-N365E

CORE Duo @2 GHZ

2GB RAM

GMA 950 Series Video

I tried both GUID and MBR, with and w/o EFI every time i get the following:

Yellow Triangle with exclamation point and the message "Could not Validate the contents of Base System package" I re-downloaded and re-burnt the files. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried using both Vanilla and non-vanilla kexts.

alright...here is the thing...i've been reading through the pages and i really have no idea how to click on the "options" button as it is not highlighted for me to select...

any idea way is wrong? cause i've been spending the whole night trying to "enable" the options button...but it seems impossible

right now, i am able to install it with GUID but an error occured in the end cause my hard drive was not set to GUID

but i was able to boot it up with the help of the dvd

when i install with MBR, everything went smoothly...but it comes out with the blinking cursor....

i've already used the zero-out method...but its still the same

why cant i select the "option button??"

Happy new year!!!!!!!

Sony Vaio VGN-N21S/W: Successful install!!!

Most things work out of the box (display, wifi)

Get sound working with taruga patcher 1.20 and Realtek ALC262 codec. But no MIC in.

ethernet will not be found. I looked around for ours but did´nt find the exact specification of the used onboard-chip.

I found nothing, wether here nor in www. Theres no windows on this machine anymore, so I can´t look there.

Anybody could help me please? Thank You.

This release works great on my machine.

Here is my config:

- Asus P5K Premium

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3,02 GHz

- 3GB DDRII-667

- nVidia 8800GTS 320MB

- Samsung HD160JJ S-ATAII HDD

- LG Multi DVD RW (connected via S-ATA by IDE-to-SATA converter)

And finally I have to say, that everything (besides GFX and the Marvell NIC; WiFi is unused) just works OUT OF THE BOX. I never had this with all the other releases (e.g. ToH, BrazilMac, JaS)

Just added the 8800GTS driver package und everything works fine.

After installation I connected my HDD to the JMicron controller via eSATA (to connect my other 6 HDD's ;-) )und it still works
