I've got the same problem. Everything went fine, till Leopard has to load the start-up screen. Sometimes it goes black with the cursur, somethings it's getting blue

Point is, safe mode does work.

- I did delete the entire hdd with the Zero option, did install it with guid and mbr; both have the same problem.

- I did install with drivers & i did install without drivers, still the same problem.

- I did install new drivers (NVinject 2.0), but i still got the problem.

No-one that solved this problem jet?

forgot to mention

Specs:

E6600

DS4

7900GTO

You flashed your GTO with the 512MB fix? that fixed it for me.

why does kalyway hang right here?

using

msi p6n sli platinum

intel e6600

80 gb ide hdd

2x1gb pc6400

ide dvd rom

I used just -v one the first attempt, but should I use cpus=1 or change some bios settings? I am big noob at this

So - what install options did you use? Wich video card, network adapter?

sorry:

currently installing kalyway as we speak. Used -v cpus=1 -legacy. 8800 gts 640mb. using onboard realtek lan. Will i run into any other problems? i selected the nvinject drivers for my vid card. Also, used MBR on a freshly formated ide 80gb.

I finally got the Kalyway distro to work on my Dell Latitude D820 with Vanilla Kernel and GUID. But as with my BrazilMac install, I still have no onboard ethernet or wireless (something I was hoping to have been fixed in this release). The onboard ethernet is the Broadcom 57xx. I could never get it to work with the BrazilMac no mater how many different fixes I tried, and the wirless is the intel 3945 and I dont believe that there is any known work around for that. I have this laptop Dual booted with Vista and the OSX portion is only a novelty for now until I can get on the Internet.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Ok, so the install almost finished then i get an error saying x11user could not install properly please try reinstall yada yada yada...What do I do now? Any suggestions? again:

msi p6n sli

8800gts 640mb

2x1gb pc6400

formatted 80 ide hdd

ide dvd

First of all, thanks to Kaly and Dune for this excellent release! I installed with the vanilla option and efi_mbar. Everything worked perfectly!!

Just one thing before I break anything, will security updates (or any other system updates other than apps) break my leopard?

well could you give me exactly your BCM 57xx model , and if possible its PCI ID ? you can obtain this in windows.thx

For the 3945Ag, we should wait, i know someone work on it.

you can do security update. but for system update even with EFI and vanilla kernel we have to be very carefull.I tried today the 10.5.2 ADC (developper version) and it hangs at installation (it seems it is dsmos.kext related and this is not specific to the Kalyway release). we made a special package for installing it and after that everything worked out of the box. So i do not know if the official update that will come certainly in january will have same problems.it seems that update work well from a 10.5.0. But anyway don't worry we will certainly do a 10.5.2 update for the kalyway when the time will come and if the official cause problems at install.

hi,

i've nearly got the same configuration, but 4 gb and a Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.4GHz and gf 6600 gt. after selecting the partition and the install procedure, i got an "unknowen error" at the very end. when examing the logfile, the OSInstaller gives the information: "can't delete package on volume....".

I tried to change bios settings without success:

CPUID Value Limit: Disable

C1: Disable

NX: Enable

CPU TM: Enable

SATA Mode: Enhanced

any ideas? thanks in advance

My BIOS settings are whatever the defaults are, but I have SATA on Auto, which I believe is the same as Enhanced if you have IDE and 3-4 SATA drives connected. "Unkown error" at the end of installation may be a problem with the DVD itself and you may just want to try re-burning it (and at a slower speed) to see if you get the same issue or not. That is, unless someone else has an answer I haven't read yet!

Actually, in correction of my own post, I DO still have to boot w/ -f every time or else the computer just reboots before displaying anything helpful, so I just added that to the com.apple.Boot.plist. I also still get random Finder freezes requiring a forced rest when opening a file selector or resizing a window (only 3-4 times over several days, so not CONSTANTLY, but enough to be annoying). The clock stops and sometimes key combos will get a spinning rainbow disc, but NOTHING otherwise.

Try to do a FIXMBR in repair mode with your vista install disk

So all I have to do is run FIXMBR? ...

But won't that replace the Bootloader to Vista? Then how do I add the OS X entry to the bootloader? With tboot? or Chain0? Or is there any other way?

And after I add it, will it be able to boot up? Are you sure there's no problem with the Darwin Bootloader itself? I won't get the blinking cursor anymore?

You flashed your GTO with the 512MB fix? that fixed it for me.

Yep, i did flash my card with the suggested MSI_7900GTO.rom. Sadly darwin posts it's still a 256mb card..

Looks like the more and more I use Leopard on my machine, i get more and more dissapointed that its just an illusion of a working OS...

QE/CI are definitely not working on my GMA900 like i had initially thought...

Movie playback is fine on Quicktime, but it stops playing within a minute, VLC won't even run the movie, and MPlayer kills the framerate...

iWork '08 doesn't work at all, which was an issue that some others were having to see if they had QE/CI.

Weird thing is, the minimize Genie effect is working fine, and so is the dock animation....

I hope a GMA900 can be figured out :S apparently there's a mysterious driver in Kaly's old Leopard build, which has now perished apparently lol..

But until then, it looks like its back to 10.4.10 :)

Okay, so I've tried three more times. Once with SSE2, vid driver, and sound driver selected. Second time with SSE2 and GUID EFI selected. Third time with JUST SSE2 selected. First try the computer restarts without fail or success with "Less than 2 minutes remaining". Second try install fails with "Less than a minute remaining". Third try restarts with "Less than 2 minutes remaining" without success or fail. When I restart with DVD in drive, I get the error message "System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found". Each attempt I've zeroed the drive before restart.

Any ideas?

i guess you have not setup everything correctly...first u can Run GUID and EFI even with non Core 2 Duo..but first do the following.

Partition as u did as GUID..then u need the EFI Pack from the i am me thread ..Sticky one

open the EFI.sc and edit it with your HD id and the Patch to the EFI Pack folder. Before u Run the Script "deactivate" the Partition then Run the script..Now u can even TEST if it was Succesful by trying to Boot that Partion it comes up with Boot.plist not found(success)

Now u Install the Kalyway DVD select Boot GUID as the Last Option and of course select ACPI Kernel.

Good Luck

Sorry, I was sleeping. Whats happened to your last install? By the way - did you all important bios-settings (you will find them here in this thread)?

big thanks to all who made it possible!

have 10.5.1 kalyway dual booting with xp running on:

ga-p35-ds3p

7900gs

ethernet works out of the box (set Boot from LAN in BIOS to enable)

audio out is working with appleazaliaaudio.kext

have no idea if audio in is working? do i need a different kext for that?

shutdown/sleep/reboot works 100%

to get my dual boot working easily, I had to use MBR EFI, insted of GUiD. is there any problem doing this? everything still seems to work perfectly! Also I had to turn off AHCI AFTER installing OSX. So basically my dual boot consists of:

1. Blank HDD. (500gb WD SATA in this case)

3. Enable AHCI in BIOS

2. Insert OSX kalyway 10.5.1 dvd

3. Create two partitions, one FAT, one HFS+

4. Make sure disk is in MBR format

5. Install OSX onto HFS+ partition using vanilla kernal, nvinject, and MBR EFI

6. wait for install/reboot

7. should load into OSX straight away

8. apply audio kexts as required

9. reboot

10. disable AHCI in BIOS

11. insert win XP cd

12. install win XP on other partition made earlier

13. after installation of win XP, copy tboot.ini to c:\, and add this line to boot.ini

c:\tboot="Mac OSX Leopard"

14. reboot.

15. done.

that was my "easy" method to do it without fdisk'ing/making partitions active etc etc. sure u dont get GUID but is that a bad thing? I can't tell the difference. Also, after setting AHCI back to disabled, I noticed my drive icons in OSX are no longer orange external, but proper internal drive icons :)

so after all that I have 5 questions:

1. Is there a problem using MBR instead of GUID?

2. Do I need a different .kext to enable audio inputs?

3. When I select to boot OSX from the XP bootloader, I get taken to the Darwin bootloader, which gives me two options: XP or OSX. is there any way to edit the darwin bootloader to remove the XP option, so it just boots straight to OSX?

4. has anyone had any luck getting a D-Link DWL-G122 Rev C1 firmware 3.00 usb wifi adapter working is OSX? I have tried the ralink drivers, and it says it is connected, but in safari it says I am not connected to the internet??? It could be my dodgy speedstream router though, as i have problems using usb dongle with it under xp too (it doesnt seem to assign DHCP IPs properly).

5. how do i check QC/QI ? of the graphics card? how do I check it is working to its full potential?

once again, thanks everyone for 100's of pages of help and for a great release!

Tim.

Thanks Kalyway for the release!

By far this is the easiest install I had so far.

Everything works out of the box except sound. A simple patch fixed it.

The only other problem is my DVD writer only read & write at 1x speed.

Download Patchburn, its a free DVD writer driver, maybe it helps.

Thats really the simplest tutorial I have seen so far, please make it a "HOW TO" and post it in the tutorial area. :)

I have installed Kalyway and the installation went fine.

When I try and boot the built system I get the Darwin prompt, it starts booting, I see the apple logo and the hour glass but some time later it either hangs or the screen goes blue. Booting in safe mode works fine. If I boot with -v I see boot messages, but these messages stop when the screen goes blue.

Should I be able to see the network device in safe mode?

This is a HP 6510b laptop, Intel Cure Duo Processor (T7100), Intel graphics, Intel W-Fi and Broadcom Ethernet.

Any idea on how I go about isolating this problem?

Thanks,

is it A Msi P35 mobo ?

I've read somewhere in the forums, that msi mobos could not install Lepoard.

But maybe i am wrong.

Anyway, did you try to install without any video drivers ?

i have a wired problem......

when trying to sleep, my computer do a proper shutdown... And when shutdown, system goes off but power and fans keeps on!!!

Can anyone with an input on this???

thanks in advance!

I have the same problem Q6600 still at 2.4 GHZ; P35-DS3P;7600 GT. Anyone have a fix w/o disabling any cores.
