Hello, chums-

As a first post, I offer up much much appreciated Hackintosh specs in gratitude and awe of all associated with OSx86.

Out of the box basic functionality with KALYWAY 10.5.1 release

HARDWARE

custom pc w/

Mobo: Intel D945Pvs

LAN: onboard Intel PRO 10/100/1000

Chipset: 945P Express

Primary Drive: IDE 38.2 GB

Secondary Drive: SATA 255.3 GB

Processor: Pentium D 935?

(FSB- 800Mhz, 3.0 Ghz all recognized, 1x2 MB L2)

Memory: 1GB @ 667 Mhz

Graphics: GeForce 7300GS (minor issues; see below)

Input: M$ Wireless Keyboard and mouse- ver. 2.10

8 USB working, Firewire untested

Above ALL WORKS

ISSUES

Audio no worky- the audio is onboard 7.1 surround- have not tried any driver fixes AT ALL

Video- like many other cases, was stuck at 1024x768 until I applied NVinject patch- all is fine now

NOTES

The only thing I had to change in the custom KALYWAY menus was switching to MBR boot. otherwise, I had no install problems. Much appreciation for the KALYWAY release group. I AM running SSE3, cannot remember if it is vanilla kernel, but I do believe so. In parting, I'd like to say my install successfully called home and downloaded patches!

Once again, many thanks- if more info is needed, admins please email/message me (not IM)

Current OS X Version: 10.5.1

Install method: Kalyway DVD, MBR

Desktop/Laptop? Desktop

Prebuilt? No

Manufacturer:

Model:

Motherboard

Manufacturer: Gigabyte

Model: GA P32-DS3L

Version: 1.1

Bios Version: Sorry, didn't check

Chipset: ICH7

Audio: Yes

LAN: Yes

Required patches etc? None

CPU

Model Number: Pentium Dual Core E2180 - 2GHz, 1Mb cache, 800MHz FSB - a poor man's Core 2 Duo

Recognised as: Sorry, didn't check

Memory/DDR: 2 x 1Gb Micron PC6400

Video

Manufacturer: XFX

Model: GeForce 7200GS

Bus Type: PCIe x16

Memory size: 128Mb

Dual screen working? Didn't try

QE/CI working? Sorry, didn't check

Resolution changeable? Yes

Required patches or bios flashing? None

SATA/IDE working: IDE only used, didn't check SATA

Wifi & patches? None

other peripherals/pci addon cards? None

misc hardware: PS/2 keyboard and mouse

Xbench is 116 - not stunning but then the processor only has 1Mb cache so the thread score is way down. Feels far more responsive than my MacBook (Core Duo 1.83, 2Mb cache, 2GB RAM at 667MHz) which scores 90 which is partially let down by the disk speed.

After struggling with my Abit FP-IN9 SLI with NVida 650i chip set with uphuck 1.4i_r2, Kalyway 10.4.10 and Kalyway 10.5.1 this config of spare parts in the office just worked - lesson to be learnt there! The Abit board wouldn't co-operate with Kalyway 10.5.1, would install with Kalyway 10.4.10 but then reset the machine on startup and the uphuck would install but then panic on a variety of topics (mainly video) on first boot. Me thinks the NVida chipset is not for OSX86!

Now the principle is proved, will acquire better MoBo and put my Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 & 4Gb RAM in it to build a decent machine and flog the Abit board on eBay.

Motherboard

Manufacturer: ASUS

Model: P5K-E WiFi AP

Version: ??? (CH 1-14)

Bios Version: 0906 (01/03/2008)

Chipset: Intel P35 / ICH9R

Audio: working? yes, with patch included in Kalyway

LAN: works, no patch required (Wired only. WiFi does not work)

Required patches etc? not to get a basic working system

CPU (look: http://web.mac.com/ricperry1/Site/Photos.html#0 )

Model Number: Core 2 Duo E6600

Recognised as: 3.8 GHz

Memory/DDR: DDR-800 Mhz (4 Gb)

Video (look: http://web.mac.com/ricperry1/Site/Photos.html#2 )

Manufacturer: ASUS

Model: EN8600GT SILENT/HTDP/256M

Bus Type: PCIe x16

Memory size: 256M

Dual screen working? yes

QE/CI working? yes

Resolution changeable? yes

Required patches or bios flashing? patch, yes. bios flashing no. Go here for an easy way to install it: http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=19 (Thanks Scott!)

SATA/IDE working: SATA yes. I have not tried IDE mode. Installation from my SATA DVD drive requires me to operate in AHCI mode.

Wifi & patches? WiFi does not work. It is reported as a USB wifi card, but I can not get it to function. (look: http://web.mac.com/ricperry1/Site/Photos.html#4 )

other peripherals/pci addon cards? I have a pchdtv 5500 HDTV tuner card which is not automatically configured or recognized. I have not attempted to get it working yet, although a websearch does not reveal any simple method of getting this "linux only" card to work.

misc hardware:

Logitech USB webcam works fine (QuickCam Ultra Vision SE)

Wacom tablet works fine (Intuos 3 PTZ-430)

USB and FireWire hard drives work fine, but TimeMachine will not use them without a patch (due to the UUID of the primary network device).

Canon PIXIMA MP960 printer works fine, but you have to download the driver from the manufacturer's website.

misc:

I have licensed versions of Windows XP MCE 2k5, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and Ubuntu 7.10 installed too. These were installed first, multibooting with GRUB. I simply installed Leopard to a separate internal hard drive. In order for GRUB to be able to boot to it, I am using MBR+EFI. I have added an entry in my GRUB configuration file (/boot/grub/menu.lst) which is similar to the Windows entry, except for which physical drive/partition it points to. I do not know, but perhaps GRUB can see it even if I use GUID. I couldn't find any references to that scenario though in order to get it configured.

Hello all! I'm going to post my configuration and tell you how I installed OS X86 10.5.1

CPU: Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 Ghz (OC'ed to 2.86ghz)

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-945G-S3

RAM: 1 GB (2x512 mb, dual channel)

Okay, I've used iATKOS v1.0i, didn't installed anything but the main system of Leopard. EFI doesn't work, kernel panic followed by a computer restart.

Intel GMA 950 works, with QE/CI, resolution changing works. I suggest making the dock 2D because it laggs the animations for some reason... But it isn't too noticable. :(

LAN working out of the box; It's an Realtek Gigabite thingy

SATA not tested

IDE(HD + Optical Drive) works

Sound works out of the box; It's a Realtek HD thingy which uses the Apple Azalia codec...

PCI slots not tested

PCI-E(16x) works(but no support for my 8500 GT :P, though it works. LMAO!)

USB works because I've used a USB mouse and worked

PS/2 keyboard works, but no PS/2 mouse test...

Parralel port not tested

So yeah... This is it. Hope I helped :(

Cya!

Hi there,

Have one question. Where did you get the 10.5.2 drivers?? Do we need to install these drivers to update our computers when 10.5.2 comes out from Apple?? Any help would be great.

By the way, I have same Motherboard running Q6600, 4 gigs ram, and 7300 gs card.

Many thanks,

Miro
