Current OS X Version: 10.5.2

Install method: Kalaway 10.5.1 then Kalaway combo update to 10.5.2

Used Acronis to make a 0AFH type active primary partition (on SATA HD).

MBR disk (with a bootable Vista partition on it - which I'll recover sometime with the Vista CD)

Booted off Kalaway DVD (attached via SATA drive).

Used disk utilites to erase the 0AFH partition from the installer menu.

Installed onto newly erased partition fine.

Desktop (in an old G4 case :-)

Motherboard

Manufacturer: ASRock

Model: ConRoe 1333-667 ASRock details

Version: Rev 3 board (note this board only has 6.1 not 8.1 audio like the earlier Rev1 & 2 boards)

Bios Version: 1.3 (Rev 3 board ships with BIOS 1.8 - which will NOT boot an OSX86 installation. The ASRock site has no previous versions - however when you download the 1.8 BIOS for the Rev3 it says its for a Rev2 board... so I tried using the 1.3 BIOS for a Rev2 board... flashed from a Windows partition then re-booted into Windows fine so then ran and installed Kalaway and iAKTOS just fine).

Chipset: Intel® 945GC A2 Chipset

Audio: working? Yes (Stereo OUT only) patches? As part of Kalaway Installer

LAN: working? Yes (100Mb/s only due to Mobo h/w)

Required patches etc? None (I did run the Kalaway uncustomiser that removes their non-Apple customised icons etc)

CPU

Model Number: e.g. Core 2 Duo E4500

Recognised as: e.g. 2.2GHz

Memory/DDR:

2GB - two 1MB sticks of cheap no-name RAM working fine and Mobo recognises as dual channel

Video

From System Profile:

Chipset Model: Intel GMA 950

Type: Display

Bus: Built-In

VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory

Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

Device ID: 0x2772

Revision ID: 0x0002

Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Hardware Accelerated

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Resolution changeable? Yes - Applying the Apple Graphics Update 1 from System Update locks down the graphics mode (I tried various things when I first installed and this is one that I didn't bother re-installing when I did a working build).

Required patches or bios flashing? No - There is a cursor video glitch that seems common that mostly crops up under Firefox. There are various options for the 950 integrated graphics floating about on the net but all I tried caused worse side effects (ie locked down graphics resolutions and/or CI/QE not working etc) so I stopped bothering about it. I am planning to try a Radeon 1950 in the machine soon anyway.

I have patched the SMBIOS to AppleSMBIOS-27 from this site since there are reports CS3 won't work with some SMBIOSes. This one for me works great (though my memory speed is reported as 0MHz) and when I migrated my account from my Mini CS3 worked fine. It also has a tidier Hardware Overview in System Profiler than the one in Kalaway I think.

SATA/IDE working:

Both work fine - boot off SATA, use PATA for storage drives.

SMART on both P- & S-ATA is recognised in both BIOS and OSX.

Wifi & patches?

other peripherals/pci addon cards?

None at present

misc hardware:

Just MS trackball, no-name webcam - both are fine. I migrated my settings from my MacMini and everything hw/sw came over fine. Some permissions needed resetting & some apps wanted to be reregistered but that was easily fixed and nothing special about it being an OSX86 install.

Hya guys,

/Laptop?

an interesting installation of Leopard 10.5.1 on an ASUS P5LD2-SE...it took me about 50 re-installs to make this thing work...here are my specs :

Desktop PC : ASUS P5LD2-SE motherboard - dual core Intel CPU 3.4 Ghz - 2 Gb RAM 333 Mhz - Geforce 7900GT

Motherboard : ASUS P5LD2-SE

Manufacturer: Asus

Model:P5LD2-SE

Version:rev. 2

Bios Version: 1208

Chipset:

Audio: working? patches? working perfectly onboard HD

LAN: working? patches? Realtek 81111B Gigabit LAN NOT working (had to install a cheapo Belkin PCI card, which worked straight away)

Required patches etc? see later

CPU

Model Number: e.g. Dual Core 3.4 Ghz

Recognised as: e.g. 3.4 Ghz

Memory/DDR: 2 GB

Video

Manufacturer: ASUS

Model: GF GT 7900

Bus Type: PCIe x16/AGP8x/onboard? PCIXpress

Memory size: 256

Dual screen working? yep

QE/CI working?

Resolution changeable? yep

Required patches or bios flashing? no

SATA/IDE working: SATA NEC DVD+/- RW - HD Maxtor 250 SATA

Wifi & patches? no wifi

other peripherals/pci addon cards? no

THE STORY / THE INSTALLATION:

I have tried about 50 re-installs of Kalyway 10.5.1, wich all resulted in a boot error (no boot, blinking cursor,...). Then I tried iATKOS r3, which resulted again in all the famous non-booters...(mostly the "restart button" error loop).

What eventually worked for me is this :

-Boot iATKOS r3 through dvd - went to diskutilities & partitioned my SATA HD into 2 partitions (the 1st, I called "Leopard", the second I left as is). Formatted MBR (not GUID) - Mac OS Journaled

- Then I installed the iATKOS r3 dvd picking ONLY the darwin bootloader/MBR option in "customize", everything else I left blank

- When it finally installed corretly, the system rebooted with the famous "restart button" error loop

-I then rebooted with my Kalyway 10.5.1 disk (stopped the pc, ejected the iATKOS dvd with a paperclip) - at this point, please make sure you have the BRAZILMAC postpatch file ready on a usb stick & stick the stick in ;-) (PostPatch file : 9a581PostPatch.sh) - format the stick in FAT and name it "123" (without quotes)

- I let Kalyway install without touching the patitions, in "customize" I did not choose ANYTHING (so I also unticked what was ticked)

- it went all through the install & rebooted.....

- when it reboots, type any key to run from dvd again & then go to "terminal"

- in terminal click (notice the space between cd and the rest):

cd ..

cd ..

cd /Volumes/123/files

./9a581PostPatch.sh

reboot

Now 10.5.1 will run WITHOUT the dvd in the drive

Everything will work flawlessly EXECPT the onboard gigabit LAN controller (I've tried all available drivers incl. RT 1000)...So in the end I decided to buy a cheap Belkin pci network card, which immeditately worked.

So now I am running Leopard 10.5.1 & it works like a charm

cheerio

Current OS X Version: 10.5.1

Install method: iAtkos V1.0ir2

Desktop/Laptop?

Prebuilt?

Manufacturer: IBM (Lenovo)

Model: Thinkpad T30

Motherboard

Manufacturer: IBM

Model: 2367GU3

Version: N/A

Bios Version: 1ET71WW (2.10)

Chipset: Intel i845D Rev. 04

Audio: Works OOB, but does not show in System Profiler

LAN: Works OOB

CPU

Model Number: Intel Pentium 4-M 1.8GHz

Recognised as: "Unknown 1.79GHz"

Memory/DDR:

1GB 400MHz DDR

Video

Manufacturer: ATI

Model: Radeon Mobility 7500

Bus Type: AGP, but recognized as PCI in Leopard

Memory size: 16MB

No proper support in Leopard for AGP cards; Fixes that were used for 10.4.x to enable QE do not work in Leopard.

OpenGL.framework from 10.4.1 (that makes QE work) causes Crashes/Black Screen.

To date there is no working AGPGart support in Leopard.

Installing drivers and Callisto (003 from 5/27/06 works) causes mouse/graphics artifacts; system errorneously detects two displays when there is only one (LCD).

Recommend use of no drivers until fix is resolved.

SATA/IDE working: Yes

Wifi : Used Dell Truemobile 1370 WLAN Card (uses Broadcom 43xx chipset); works OOB

For Travelers: WWAN Cards also work OOB (if used USB)

NOT WORKING:

PCMCIA BUS

Notes to consider before installing Leo on your system: (This is what I experienced; YMMV)

ToH 10.5.1, Kalyway 10.5.1, and JaS 10.5.2 DO NOT boot from the install DVD. It might be an issue with incompatibility with the MOBO/GFX, but certain that the issue is related to the Bootloader.

iAtkos v1.0ir2 will install ONLY IF the (unofficial) r3+BadBIOS patch is applied. But will not boot unless DVD is in the drive and using flag "rd=disk0s1". Tried to use Kalyway Make Bootable Disc, but makes no difference.

DO NOT install the stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext (vanilla) if you want power management (battery status) to work on your system. Fine installed on your system must be version 1.0.3 and modify the ACPIPowerSource.kext to reflect version 1.0.5 (version is 1.1 in kext); and download PowerManagement.bundle v. 137 (can be found here in forums)

Please PM me for any questions regarding your system.
