We're looking to update the Leopard 10.5.1 HCL in the Wiki and so we need all our members who've successfully installed 10.5.1 on their systems to submit their systems details. The Wiki is the first stop for members when they look to install OS X on their PCs and so it's incredibly important that it be as extensive as possible, and that can only happen with your help. To find out the details of your system in OS X you can use ;) (anyone care to recommend something)...and in Windows you can use Everest. To visit the Wiki click on OSx86 Project on the top right of every InsanelyMac page.

To make it easier to enter your system specifications, it's important that the template below is used when submitting. Simply copy/paste it all and fill in the relevant areas.

  • State what is and is not supported with you hackintosh. If patching was required to get something working, please provide a link to the topic you used, so it may help others with similar systems.
  • As tempting as it maybe please refrain from asking questions regarding other members systems. This is not the place for this! If you need to ask a question then use the relevant forum or PM the member directly. Posts distracting from the purpose of this topic will be removed.

Important Note:

The Wiki is now open to the public
:(
so if members wish they may go there directly and enter their details. Please remember to fill in the Computer/Laptop sections if your system is a prebuilt one as well as the components section.

Also if you've already inputted your details in the Wiki then you should
not
also post them in this thread. It will only deleted and causes the process of updating the wiki from here to slow down.

Current OS X Version: 10.5.1

Install method: Kalyway, EFI working? --Yes

Prebuilt? --No

Motherboard

Manufacturer: Asrock

Model: Conroe-d667-1333

Version: 1.0

Bios Version: 1.3 --! has to be below 1.4 or it won't work with any install

Chipset: intel 945

Audio: working? -- yes patches? appleHDA and manual fixes to files.

LAN: working? -- yes patches? -- none needed

Required patches etc? aside from the audio, no. just how it came off the installer

CPU

Model Number: pentium E2140

Recognised as: 2.0 GHZ dual (is overclocked to that)

Memory/DDR: 2GB ddr2 (2x1GB corsair value)

Manufacturer: Intel

Model: onboard gma950

Bus Type: onboard, but also had a nvidia (xfx brand) 7600GT in there for a while and it worked too.

Memory size: ? not sure, uses main memory.

Dual screen working? --haven't tried, but onboard only has one vga out.

QE/CI working? --not sure what these mean.. Resolution changeable? -- yes.

Required patches or bios flashing? -- not for the video

SATA/IDE working: yes. seems to prefer all sata, but ide works once the install is done.

Wifi & patches? -- don't know, haven't tried/don't have hardware

other peripherals/pci addon cards? no

misc hardware: imac keyboard, old pc case old dell monitor, logictech mouse. that's about it

This seems to work in every way... just fine. does updates no problem. Timemachine, no problem.

Thanks to everyone for all the help figuring this out!

I'll say it again here, because it was the most annoying aspect: The bios version was very critical. On my setup, nothing at all would work until the bios was downgraded to 1.3. anything higher and iaktos, kalyway would not even boot the installer. I have to think that this is something that was done intentionally, perhaps something to do with Vista. -- but it's weird that a bios patch would cause all manner of installers to not work.

Wifi & patches? Atheros chipset (madwifi) -- Wifi not working

other peripherals/pci addon cards?no

Note:

Follow instructions of Kalaway's leopard, but after the installer copies files and reboots.. do not boot from the harddrive yet..

On the reboot, boot up with dvd installer, and go to the installation screen so that you can open a terminal window..

you need to change ->

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

the line where it says

<string>-legacy</string>

change it to

<string></string>

, also do not use the vanilla kernel it immediately reboots your machine..

Verify with me if this works for your sony vaio too.. currently don't have sound and wifi and full display working..

Network works but is not fast.. I do get alot of this in my system log

This laptop's processor has SSE2 and SSE3-- I used Aida tool from the freely available HirenBoot CD (http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd , choose system tools and then aida).. I believe the motherboard is a tweaked intel motherboard--funnily the Aida tool shows it as the 'Sony Corporation Q-Project' if anybody knows what that means..

Thank you so much everyone for giving in your input.. I hope others can share their experience too and grow this community much stronger than it already is..

Please let me know what I can try(I chose SSE2 in the installer and am trying to find a safe way to install the SSE3 mod), if you happen to have similar hardware as to what mods, or kernel patches I should do to at least get my basic video and ethernet working up to speed.. my rtl8139 seems pretty slow.. also when i was extracting some archives it seemed not to be as fast as it should. Keep up the good work kalaway, netkas and all of you testers out there.. :D.. hope to hear from you soon

How did you get your wireless working? Are you using the on-board Realtek 8187 wireless?

Also, do you have sleep working? What BIOS settings did you use for sleep?

One more, what is your mach_kernel version?

Cheers mate!
