But, one thing I don't understand is "some threads mention the word "wheel".

What is wheeling and what is the command for that?

Dude, did you take a look at the link I posted? You might have seen some code in the first post that has some code with the word wheel in it.

:(

It's something to do with setting file permissions. If you want a more technical explanation (which I can't give) try google for "unix mac wheel" or similar.

I have a 700m....

can someone post the original kext files....the AppleIntel* files..

or can someone send me their working files for the 700m

I had replaced them with some of the files I found here in the forum and now all I get when I try to boot in regular mode is a gray screen with blocks when the video tries switching.

I can't seem to get my video back to the way it was (1280x800 with no QE)

please help.

I have a X40 (855GME).

I also can't get QE feature by this method (modified AppleIntel830 and AppleIntelIntegratedGraphics)....

When both 830 and IntegratedGraphics are loaded, some error occurs at launching a login window app.

Only with IntegratedGraphics.kext is loaded, start-up gets normally and several resolutions (600x400, 800x600 and 1024x768) appear in display icon...

This is for 700m Users:

To get 1280x800 working with QE supported. Take all the AppleIntel files out of the Extensions folder and put in the 4 files I have attached in the zip.

Then do the following to the 4 files:

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel*

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel*

Restart.

If when you restart you get a bluescreen...boot into Windows XP first...Then RESTART from windows and load into OSX using -v -f options.

Good luck.

In my attached zip (AppleIntel830GA, AppleIntel830GLDriver, and AppleIntel830 are from the Darwin CD (Un modified)

AppleIntelIntegrated is modified at one point...changing 0x2582 to 0x3582

I hope this works.

Removed for DMCA violation.

try booting to XP or any Linux live distro first, then reboot to OSX. That should let you pass that error at launching the login window. At least this works for me (Toshiba Satellite Pro A40, same gfx chip). Just reboot, don't turn of the computer!

Me too. Blue screen and nothing, but tiger continue its booting, because I've turned on voice and it reads the welcome screen. I've tried to connect second monitor, bot not succeeded ^(

It's a driver problem, I think. Will wait for updates :)

ps: Acer travelmate 4k - 855gme

Hi again!

When I make a kextload of intel830 it sais:

kernel extension AppleIntel830.kext has problems:

Validation failures

{

"Kext has a kernel dependency prior to version 6.0 and CFBundleIdentifier does not match executable's MODULE_NAME" = true

}

This files are original kext from darwin CD

Help! ;)

I am trying to get my i865GV chipset working on an ASUS P4P800-MX motherboard. Here is my display information from within profiler, this is without the AppleIntel830* kexts loaded (deleted from the extensions folder) This is the only way that I can get OSX to boot without using safe mode (-x). When I have the modified 830 and 915 kexts in the extension folders, booting regularly results in the blocky blue graphics that others have reported. This is on a patched DVD installation.

Type: VGA-Compatible Controller

Bus: Built-In

Vendor: Intel (0x8086)

Device ID: 0x2572

Revision ID: 0x0002

Displays:

P110:

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 85 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Not Supported

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

I haven't touched the contents of the kexts because they report the correct device and vendor IDs.

Any thoughts or ideas here?

Thanks

Everything was working fine, till I pushed Fn + F5, which switches to an external monitor...now it reverted back to 1024x768, albeit a 'sharp one'. This affected the setting in the BIOS I believe, as you'll see here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/6406988/F_ed_up_FujP7k.avi.html" target="_blank">F'ed up FujP7k

Any ideas? I already tried putting 1280x768 in com.apple.boot.plist...I'm gonna look at the BIOS settings again now.

cheers

eli b.,
