MortnT
I followed the guide and everything works perfectly. However, I have two questions. First of all: is it safe for me to update to 10.5.1 using Software Update? I haven't tried it yet because I'm affraid it'll screw up things. Secondly: I have a mouse tearing issue in applications like Firefox. Is there a decent fix around for this? shinji257
Ok. I'm thinking about attempting this but question. Does this allow me to use both cores on my E1705? I know with 10.4.x there was a known issue where you couldn't do that and you had to use the CPUS=1 kernel option so that it would only use one core to make it work right. On that note, I've been reading and reading and reading and I'm not entirely clear what the differences/advantages would be to using this "Leopard perfect install" method as opposed to the Kalyway DVD. I am trying to learn, and I would really appreciate it if someone with experience could quickly sum it up for me. Hi Lester56, I've been sort of following 2 threads, this one and the one for people with the Bad-Axe 2 motherboard. My system has an Intel D975XBX2 mobo, an nVidia 8800 GTX video card, and 4GB of RAM. I feel pretty confident that, when I actually have the time to devote to it, I am going to be able to get this running well. That being said, I have some questions for you: 1) I've downloaded the Kalyway ISO, so I think I have that covered. How big was your Kalyway DVD? I want to make sure that I downloaded the right one. 2) As for the dongle files, what is the exact filename that you downloaded (i.e. ?.zip, ?.iso, ?.rar,???, etc)? Is it the package where you have to rename your USB thumb drive to "Patch"? 3) You mentioned a CD that is separate from the Kalyway DVD, what ISO (I'm assuming it's an ISO file) did you download for this? Anyway, thanks in advance for your help with this. This forum is really great, probably the best one I've been on. Everybody is really helpful. Microsoft is doomed! Cheers. Anyway, your leopard is legitimately licensed on an illigitimate hardware, which is just the same as not buying the software, but as long as they won't know on their end They won't right? For every update, they won't know? It's maybe the software with serials that might get knocked but OS should be fine? Great to share your info, leaves me very interested, since it was something I considered at one point, but was always shut-down by this idea. Hello guys... I need some help for my situation ... Maconvert
Hello, This might be a stretch, but is it possible that some CD-Rom/DVD-Rom drives and/or BIOS settings are causing this problem (of not being able to boot the CD's)? If so, are there any recommended DVD-Rom drives for use with a Hackintosh? I have no problem with ditching the one I have, because that's a pretty minor expense (at least next to the mobo, graphics card, processor, and RAM). Cheers. My laptop is compatible with any of these compilations? Your English is just fine. No need to apologize for that. What I want to see is exactly what error messages you get when the system failed to boot with each of four different installation methods for Leopard. If you really want to install Leopard on your system, you should ask people with exact error messages. (Even with this specificity, people have hard time to get the right reason. So the specific questions really help others who try to help you.) Also you may want to specify about which booting you are getting errors, i.e. first time booting after installation or booting before the installation, etc... And as gramarye pointed out, it's better to give your not-working hardware specifications to others too. (Although you gave the model number for your SONY laptop, it's up to you to give detailed specifications of the components because really no one wants to go to SONY website to find out that the laptop has, for example, High Definition Audio not the audio model number. To do so, download some Linux live CD such as Ubuntu and run it to figure out the hardware specifications boot with your Linux system and gather not-working hardware information, in your case audio model.) From what you gave, the wireless is likely not working for Tiger or Leopard because Intel wireless card never been adapted as Airport (i.e. no available Apple driver for Intel wireless cards) and no third party working driver is available yet. You may want to replace the wireless card. (It is not what it sounds like. It's easy. It's cheap too. I replaced my Intel wireless card with something else for 6.75 USD total. And I have wireless access now.) You may want to read http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34071 first before you buy anything. I looked at HCL 10.5.0 (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...0.5.0/Portables) and 10.5.1 (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...0.5.1/Portables) but couldn't find your model. But I do not believe your machine is not suitable for Leopard because Tiger installation is just fine and because Leopard should support all the hardwares what Tiger supports (i.e. backward compatibility). And I believe that all of the compilations should work on your system, at least proper booting possibly after some post-patch steps (even if none of them gives you 100% working system right from the start) because you have an Intel processor and an Intel motherboard with ICHx. Good luck. --S Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/72493-leopard-perfect-install/page/32/#findComment-591566 Share on other sites

If you can, there should be something that says "boot:" Hit -v (instead of an apple logo, this prints out everything). If that loads, look for anything that the Darwin loader doesn't recognize. If necessary, also try with -x as well. This is safe mode. I had to do this when I tried Kalyway, and I was at least able to get into the installer. And I believe that all of the compilations should work on your system, at least proper booting possibly after some post-patch steps (even if none of them gives you 100% working system right from the start) because you have an Intel processor and an Intel motherboard with ICHx. Good luck. --S Thank you for your patience... This is the list of my devices extracted from ubuntu... Lester56
Cheers. Read my Signature! All of my working hardware is listed there. Same as OneTrack's.
