Arsenicson
If you read back a few posts, I had the same type of problem. The guide tells you what to do after updates. Apple update changes a few things. For me, I just re-applied the 9a581PostPatch.sh script and recopied the AppleSMBIOS.kext from pc_efi_v80, repaired permissions and away I went.By the way, I still consider myself new at this and already up and running. Look at the dates of others (that are now running Leopard) and they haven't been at it for long. But I do honestly think that have a grasp of the concepts is important (like what EFI really is versus BIOS, and what the whole patch/install process is trying to accomplish). You will also notice in one of my posts that I had to edit the patch script to accomplish my task since I had build 9b18 (Canadian English/French edition) and the kexts/pkgs that the installer expects were different than BrazilMac expects. That is where the "understanding" comes in.I am now on holiday for 9 days. I "may" try to make an actual document (with input from others that have been successful) that explains more expanded detail on the install process. Input from others required as they had different experiences than I alone.Cheers.Cheers. Thanks. I've filtered your posts and got myself a nice picture of the path you've walked through but i really hate to spoil the party, but if you have reapplied the postpatch AFTER the update it means you still run the patched kernel - because the postpatch replaces it. That was and still is my problem - i want vanilla kernel. So far I gave up. I made a clean reinstall, then applied the update - everything with pacifist from under tiger. Then i removed AppleEFIRuntime, replaced AppleSMBIOS and added dsmos. So, except for that all other kexts are vanilla. I had to add some additional kexts for PS2, sound and video (natit). And it works, system recognized as MacPro. Still, i have the same USB problem (many people do), shutdown/restart doesn't work, and there's something strange with networking http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=77545&hl= Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/72493-leopard-perfect-install/page/28/#findComment-549095 Share on other sites

cdummy
Hello. I installed 10.5.1 kalyway on my machine almost without trouble. I had some trouble to install(1 minute hdd in standby) but I resolved by moving mouse. NIC, sound works right out of the install. About this mac is crashing. I see many people have trouble with this on 10.5 Any fix for that? Thanks for help. From what I read I have replace AppleSMBios.kext but what version I have to use? Where do I get that? You make a good point about the post-patch kernel. System tells me it's Darwin 9.0.0 Probably a useless venture, but I will experiment with that. The USB thing is tricky. Plugging in my USB HD between the start of Darwin load and the gray screen makes it work. But it may or may not show up in Finder. Even popping in a CD/DVD may or may not start. This must be something related to insertion notification events. I just don't know what kexts take care of this. I have no network issues that I know of at this time. Protocol tags (HTTP, FTP, SMB, etc) work for me. There is much I do not understand yet, but at least I am not totally crippled OS wise. I would love to see the much hyped iATKOS. aaronvb
followed this guide and the install went perfect. the only thing i changed was the efi to version 8 and Mistico's p5b deluxe pack(it's for tiger, but the ethernet and audio drivers worked for leopard). everything works smooth, photoshop, scanners, even world of warcraft. installed mac fuse to get osx to read/write to my NTFS hdd's. sleep/shutdown/restart all work. only thing that i'm missing is wifi and line-in/mic in but i read that should be fixed when realtek releases new drivers. asus p5b deluxe e6400 @ 3ghz geforce 7600gt 256mb 2gb corsair xms2 bunch of sata hdd's and sata dvd player. nothing too special. Racko
Hi! Does anyone know, why I can't boot iATKOS version of Leopard on GA945GCMX-S2 (i get still waiting for root device). I have WD 250gb 8mb cache SATA2 HDD and Optiarc SATA DVD-rw. I've tried with LG IDE DVD-RW and it does boot, but there is no HDD in disk utility. Should I set something out in BIOS. Please, help me. Racko
Hi! I changed my hard drive for an old WD 80gb (ATA). And iATKOS installed without any problems. Leopard works like a charm for me, with no patches added. Updates works, so does the QE/CI, sound, networking,.... My hackintosh boots up in 21 seconds. (pretty fast, ha?) I don't really know, why my SATA drives are not recognized. Are there some extra drivers for our SATA controller)? It would be really nice, to see my WD 250gb SATA2 in Leopard. I get 140 from xbench with that hardware: Intel C2D E6750 @ 2,66GHz (maybe i'll overclock it a little) GA945GCMX-S2 2gb Patriot RAM WD 80 gb ATA GF 7600GS 256mb LG DVD-RW ATA So OneTrack, add me to 100% working hackintosh users. Greetings, Igor EDIT: Humn, i noticed, that reboot doesn't work, while the shutdown and sleep works. If I click reboot, I see just black on my monitor and nothing happens. How can I solve this? Discobob73
So anyone have any luck running 1333MHZ FSB? I have to use "standard" 1066MHZ on the Gigabyte 945GCMX-S2 mobo. Hence my C2D E6550 running 1.8 instead of 2.4Ghz. Discobob73
Why standard? I use 1333MHz mode on my E6750 without any problem. When I set the mobo to "OC" in the BIOS options to use 1333mhz the boot process hangs. When i use the disabled settings, it boots fine. Can you tell me your BIOS settings, just to verify with mine? Racko
Try to change CPU setting for automatic changing of voltage and multiplier. I think you have 3 options in advanced settings for that. onemanstrash
Well Onetrack thank you soooo much!!!! I have a 100% functional hack. 10.5.1 on a guid efi v8. Sleep, time machine, reboot, shutdown, it all works. I now have just about every application my girlfriend is going to use open (CS3 suite, itunes, google earth, Quark, and ilife), as this is my first build as a gift so it all has to work. There are no hickups. This computer rox. I got the GA-945GCMX-S2, 2 gigs of ram and a sata drive. Oh yeah 2 250 seagate sata 2's. A 7300gs and 2 19 inch lcds (already had). Oh yeah an intel core 2 duo e4500 2.2 I get a 175 xbench without disk checked and 137 with disk. Total cost about 500 $ for the rig. Just added the time machine fix and the fixboot from the irc. added the nvinject and rest is history. I can't believe how well this system works.
