jpolster2005
I have a dual dvi diamond PCI express x1650. It was a 71c7 and now its a 71c2. I flashed it with that MSI bios and now I get QE/CI and Resolution changing. But now i lost DVI and have to use a DVI to VGA adapter. My DVI to HDMI adapter no longer works on this card. I also cannot get dual display. Anyone have any Ideas? can anyone help me out im using diabolik's method and for some reason i dont have QE but before i reinstalled i had it working just fine (not sure what method i used before though) here are my specs and HW id also my vram should be 512 and i have an AGP cardRadeon X1650 Series: Chipset Model: Radeon X1650 Series Type: Display Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x71c6 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays:SceptreX22WG-Gamer: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Not Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported Rotation: Supportednvm got it to work figured out what i was missingWhat did you do to get it working? laxattack
it still reads as pci and only 256mb vram but i had to edit one string in one of the plugin files that i had messed up before, btw dual monitors or even just dvi has been plaguing me for a while, and the only way i have heard of using it is dvi to vga adapter, which is pointless for me
TheGreatDeceiver
hello? is anyone gonna answer me? I didn't spend $80 on a video card just to have you guys tell me to break it! yoh, you are funny, we made you break it. anyways, good luck. jpolster2005
well they put two DVI ports on the card for a reason dont they? Shouldn't I be able to use that? I've been trying to figure this out for a long time. When i hook a 2nd monitor up all that happens is it mirrors what the first one is showing. and OS X doesnt see a 2nd monitor. Its as if the 2 ports act like a splitter instead of two seperate video devices. I know this card is supposed to support dual monitors.
sMaX
Hey there, I finally got my card working: ATI x1650 pro 512MB AGP 0x71c7 Thanx to kozlowski! I understand it looks all very difficult and with all the threads on this forum very hard to find a good method. This though is certainly one of them! So I kinda followed all the methods I could find. Hexediting, editing kexts etc... In the end I realised I was editing to many entries. What I did: °Install 10.4.8 (8.1.1) °Then install the modbin installer. : I got resolution change but no qe/ci °Then while waiting for a reply of kozlowski: I installed AGPgart 2.2: It worked, so in system profiler it said AGP instead of PCI ( this should give a serious speedboost) °Then last but not least I downloaded blackb 's edited atix1600 kext for 0x71c7's. Dropped it in extensions folder. Cmod & chown in terminal, repair permissions and rebooted °first restart: it just reboted while loading osX °Then it did restart properly and I got no QE or CI but it did say rotation was working. Everything did go a lot faster. °Another reboot and QE/CI just worked Thanx a lot !!!

Denicio
Oh i guess it has something to do with the transparency of the menu bar in Leopard... Don't have any solution to that, but in case you want to try it further just use the solution on the Leopard section. People say that for Leopard its the best approach. ximekon
If I may sum up: There are lots of ways to get ATI x1650 cards to work. These guides work for most of the people. For example http://uphuck.ggrn.de/forum/viewtopic.php?...mp;p=6814#p6814 (address has changed since Board upgrade) or http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...26&hl=x1650 or http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=x1650&st=0 I got a Gigabyte Silent card. Using the 2nd DVI it shows video. Using the 1st DVI it only shows video during boottime and right before the login would appear only the 2nd DVI is still on. As frequently read this seems to be an issue for some people. My ID is 71c6, but the first port seems to use 71e6. If I try to patch and edit the kexts with 71e6 to hopefully get the first DVI port to work - well I fail. So in my case - which I think is the case for some if not many people two things remain unsolved: 1. getting the first DVI to work 2. getting sleep to work I would really appreciate if anybody could provide some hints to these two topics... kd rgds, xi

indep
Solved this problem already. QE/CI/Rotation works completely ok. my actions were the following: 1. Install Jas 10.4.8(kernel 8.8.1) without Natit(Titan). 2. Install AGPGart 2.6.0/reboot 3. Install modbin's package(8.9.1)/reboot 4. Copy/Paste Kozlowski pack with blackb's ATIRadeonX1000.kext Do not forget to sudo -s chmod -f 755 /System/Library/Extensions chown root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions diskutil repairPermissions / reboot (if you got no final result from the first reboot, do it twice) 5. popeyeq
Solved this problem already. QE/CI/Rotation works completely ok. my actions were the following: Hi I get it work like this: First make clean install of iATKOS 1.0i without any ATI support. Get this kext: MacLovin_ATi__71c7__Installer_OSX86_10.5.zip - MacLovin_ATi__71c7__Installer_OSX86_10.5.zip this is guide for it: http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2312 And just install it. Reboot. The install pkg say: Credits: TheMaxx32000, kozlowski, quixos (no particular order) Compatibility: Vendor: 1002 Device ID: 71c7 This will only work with ATi video cards with device id: 71c7. I have made available other packages that are meant for other device id's as well. Search for them (insanelymac/osx86scene). What this will do: -Ability to change resolutions in Leopard -Enable Quartz Extreme -Enable Core Image -Enable Rotation -Enable Refresh Rates What this will not do: -Enable dual screens -DVI usability Tested on: VisionTek x1650 Pro PCIE 256mb (71c3) Leopard 10.5 (9a581) - Using ToH RC2 Installation DVD But after reboot didnt have QE/Rotation enabled. So I tryed to following this guide: http://uphuck.ggrn.de/forum/showthread.php?p=6814 (This link doesnt work any more, I thing forum is under construction - when I get home i will post txt file with that gide, think I got it.) But only steps 1. - 12. (insted 0x71c6 i used my ID 0x71c7 for step 11. & for step 15. i replace 0x71c6 with my 0x71x7 - cause I readed somewhere that I should replace ID closest to my.) Then I keep following the guide( replace ID 0x00001002 with 0x71c71002) up to step 22. Step 22. gave me kernel error at boot. so I left it as in MacLovin ATi 71c7 Installer. (<key>ATY,DeviceID</key> <integer>29125</integer> - <integer>0x71c7</integet> & <key>ATY,VendorID</key> <integer>0x1002</integer> - simple didn't changed from hex to decimal.) So I jump to step 26. Check step 29. - It should be: navigate to /Contents/PlugIns/ATY_Wormy.kext and show packade content, then navigate to /Contents/ and open Info.plist and the string stay ass it was from MacLovin Install. <key>IONameMatch</key> <string>ATY,Wormy</string> I didnt change ATY,Wormy string. as well as <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IONDRVDevice</string> left it as MacLovin Install. after just: --- Clean Caches --- 32. Go to System/Library/Caches and delete the com.apple.kernelcaches folder 33. Go to System/Library/ and delete Extensions.mkext 34. Go to System/Library/Extensions and delete caches folder 35. Go to System/Library/Extensions and delete ATIRadeonx1000.kext --- final steps--- 36. copy the edited files (ATIinject.kext, ATIRadeonX1000.kext and ATINDRV.kext to /System/Library/Extensions (overwrite the old ones) 37. reboot No mouse teering or any graphics defects, just one crash - pc reboot by on its own. It happend just once, so i need keep on testing. I thing is most based on hexediting the ATIRadeonX1000.kext i will try to play with it. Let you know boys. Now am gona try to hexedit ATIRadeonX1000.kext and replace all 71c0 with 71c7 + 71c6 with 71c7. maybe c071 with c771 and c671 with c771. will see wahts happend . neoarcadia
any help would be greatly appreciate ! i tried this method with my X1550 card but fails from the very first step. i install modbin package and restart the computer but i just got a blank screen. i tried to boot with -x to go to safe mode but i still got the blank screen. so i switch to my leopard partition and then edited ATIRadeonX1000.kext / ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin / ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.plugin to including my device id (7183) but i'm unable to repair the permission / chmod / chown / etc and then after i boot to my tiger again, it still gave me the blank screen. can somebody here point out how to revert back the modbin installation manually ? my mistake is that my tiger partition contain lots of my work / important data. any help would be greatly appreciate !!! Hi, can you mount tiger partition in leopard? If not jast do it with your Tiger instalation DVD - go to terminal, delete all kext you edited, or just replace values wich has been there before. Then you should be able to do the chmod and chown and do not forget to repair permition. Very Important!!!! - Always do back up of files (kext's) you are about to change on diferent drive or USB key. Good luck man.

So when you want to cd in - you need to: cd /Volumes/Tiger/ enter or just try: ls /Volumes it should show you all mount points. And about chmod/chown - try to enable root acount and log in as root all the best - and good luck with 7300GT i thing i go for one as well because i got som problems i dont know if it is cause graphics or anything else. need to search bit more. Keamas
Hi I just tried it with Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD. After the installation of mac Lovin Patch the resolution workes great but no QE and CI. I read this Guide http://uphuck.ggrn.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6814 Here What I did 7. go to /System/Library/Extensions/ 8. copy ATIRadeonX1000.kext to your desktop . do a "show package contents" with the ATIRadeonX1000.kext that you just placed on your desktop 10. open your About this Mac -> More Info -> Hardware -> Graphics/Displays and obtain Device ID of your ATI, my Device ID is 0x71c7 11. inside this package go to /Contents/ and open Info.plist with the Text-Editor, search this: 0x71c01002 . This string should be found under the IOPCIMatch key: CODE: SELECT ALL <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0x71871002 0x71c01002 0x72101002 0x71DE1002 0x71461002 0x71421002 0x71091002 0x71C51002 0x72401002 0x72491002 0x72911002</string> 12. replace the 0x71c01002 with 0x71c71002 (Note: you see I replace the first four digits of this hex string with my device ID, if you got any other Device ID under step 10, then use the one you got!) 13. Than I copyed the ATIRadeonX1000.kext back and replaced it but now the Hackintosh didn't start (Kernel Panic) What stap was wrong ? Can you please explain me in a simple way please what I did wrong. This will be great thank you
Keamas
Hi this seems to work: Get this kext: MacLovin_ATi__71c7__Installer_OSX86_10.5.zip - Install MacLovin_ATi__71c7__Installer_OSX86_10.5.zip 0x71C7 Download Fix (Credits to blackb for this one) (First Side) 5) Copy & Paste the 3 files (1 file for 0x71C7) included in the Zip into /System/Library/Extensions (Authenticate & Replace). 6) Open Terminal... sudo -s (enter password) chmod -f 755 /System/Library/Extensions chown root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions diskutil repairPermissions / reboot But can't see the Dashboard Bubble Water Effect. It seems to me that is still slow Core image and so on. Is there any way to test it ? I don 't Trust System Profiler But in System Profiler lookes like this: ATI Radeon X1600: Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600 Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x4 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x71c7 Revision ID: 0x009e EFI Driver Version: 01.00.068 Displays: DELL 2005FPW: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected
