tested a XFX Radeon VII in my rig

OSX
Mojave 10.14.5

Catalina 10.15 beta 2

pretty similar result with geekbench for metal and OpenCl (about 170/180K)

Cinebench 15 (in 10.14.5 145 frame)

Luxmark 3.1 (51000)

Without weg and without any special port remapping only HDMI port is working

With WEG also 2 of 3 DP ports are ok the first one from top is not seen

DP Audio is fine. no scratch at all. Purple lines are there.

In my Mb no Bluetooth no wifi. Only a TbEx 3 thunderbolt adapter

GFX scales well under load no undervolt needs. Fans are running in a correct way

Thanks for the info.

All the 3 DP ports show up here with 10.14.6 Beta 2, however the 3rd DP port (next to HDMI) has this issue during boot:

https://streamable.com/lxke6

And I have scratchy audio in DP audio, however if I leave the computer on for 2-3 days, it goes away. However a simple restart (lets say I want to boot into Windows) it comes back again.

But otherwise, the GPU is working very well no issues in daily tasks.

I tried your recommendation and everything works fine. FCPX and DaVinci works perfect.

The only thing I see is a software VideoProc H264 ¨unavailable¨. A lilu/weg setting to fix this? thx

This is exactly what I'm getting now, @Picasso did you resolve this? Before changing to the suggested iMacPro1,1 it was showing as neither available. Thank you @CMMChris

UPDATE: HUGE thank you to @CMMChris for patching up my EFI folder for me. For some reason Clover 4988 caused my Hack to freeze at RANDOMSEED after I tried installing it myself, forcing me to revert to 4972, but he got that working as well.

I also get a glitch right before the Apple load bar finishes. Not sure if anyone else gets this.

GPU is being heavily used where appropriate, but I don't think the drivers are there yet unfortunately...or maybe this is how it's supposed to be?

I also got this before boot to desktop, i also have black screen for few seconds before it login...

Can i have my EFI folder patched as well? :) I dont know why my R7 is runing slow in DR...scoring in bench test are good but overall performance looking so slow...

I can see your SMBIOS is 18,1 did you tried iMacPro 1,1?

As you can see the R7 is working fine on my hack, results from bench mark are OK can do better I believe however, when running FCPX or DR the encoding/export results are very slow...is that related to Apple drivers or I need to modify my EFI?

Thanks

Rename your ACPI devices properly.

All the info in this topic.

I couldn't find...can you please point me to the topic?

By the way,

Metal in DR working faster than OpenCL....so I guess it is matter of Apple drivers that are not matured yet

Check here:

It will show the GPU Die temp in iStat Menu (or for example Heaven/Valley benchmarks) but not the HotSpot. AMD has added a lot of new sensors to the Radeon VII compared to Vega.

do you have this for official release of Mojave?

with this kext I am loosing my USB 3.0....

Anyone has panic issue with Radeon Vii on Mojave 10.14.5?

I built a Mac with 9900K+Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7+Msi Radeon Vii. However, I have no idea where I did wrong, the OS will reboot by panic (like my picture shows).

not R7 ... 970 Pro is guilty...

Yeah this happens with a lot of AMD cards not just Radeon VII.

But Radeon VII performance is bad in macOS (for OpenCL not 3D)...the drivers need time to mature, most likely mid cycle in Catalina.

It happens without WG/Lilu.

It's Apple Radeon VII driver related.

Its not a driver issue, it's related to how the GOP releases the firmware over to the OS to take over.

Yes the black dip before login screen is understandable. Purple screen has been fixed in Beta build of WEG, however still same issues with displayport audio issue (another user reporting same) as well as lower performance for metal/opencl compared to Vega 64.

Now that 10.14.6 is finished and out, the only way we can get better performance is with Catalina down the line when Mac Pro is released in September.
