OK. do you understand Windows? root is almost the same thing as your boot disk: C: in windows.

In UniX or BSD based systems such as OSX, root is known as / symbol. So, root is the lower lever you can get when browsing through the system.

For example, if you want to get to the chess application:

in Windows: C:\Program Files\Chess\chess.exe

in OSX: /Applications/Chess

So, after using the Terminal app, and when using OSX with the Aqua desktop, you'll find the file you want on the disk on the upper right corner, in the first window you get:

/ad1986ioreg.txt

I'm having problems with the patcher. It crashes my system every time that I try to run it. right after I give it my password the hole system goes belly up and tell me that I have to reboot.

My Hackintosh (Runing JAs 10.4.8)

P-D 805 2.66

ECS MotherBoard SLI-a (nForce 4) I'm reasonably sure that this is the 883 but they all seem to crash it.

3 Gig DDR2

GeForce 7300gt 256 meg

(I also have a Ht- omega striker card [c-media] if it can be made to work)

thanks

I've tried the ALC268 Installers by taruga: the first works well as the Diego Giovany fix without external mic, the second doesn't works (there is no audio in output...)

Bye, i sure that the mute control will fix soon!

I tried the ad1986.app patcher (for 0x11d41986) and I got improvements for sound, but I can't modify volume from volume slider in menu bar(only from volume button of speakers), it shows the mic and line in, but when I tried to record something using RecordPad, nothing from mic. How can I solve those problems?

Hello all,

after a couple of months without success, I'm here asking help about how to activate sound on my Asus F9S.

I tried all possible kext but all I obtained is to have output devices (speakers and line out) and input device (internal mic) on System profiler, but none of these works.

This is codec dump obtained from Kubuntu (where all works fine):

Hi everyone! well ive done alot of searching and for the life on me cannot figure out how to get my audio working one my 975XBX (BadAxe) motherboard... according to the dump i made i have a sigmatel 9221D audioc chipset. When i try the patcher with my dump or one of the supplied ones it doesnt do anything! im using the latest iATKOS which says i have audio output and shows the volume control and HD Audio Output in system preferences, but no sound comes out of any of the jacks! could someone help out or maybe PM me with the link to an already patched and working AppleHDA.kext?

Everyone I have been trying for days on-end and cannot get the sound working on my ECS 945GCT-M motherboard, running ToH_10.5.1. The ECS web site states the audio is Realtek ALC883 6-channel, Ubuntu Linux dump gives me SigmaTel_STAC9221_A2. I have tried both ALC883 and STAC9221 dumps on 1.20 patcher, still no sound. Shows Internal Speakers & Digital out(cant control volume). Would love to have sound on the Line-Out. Any advice??
