@matgeo would you run this script under Linux and show me the output? I would also like to know if you see a dialog box where you are asked what you want to choose. If yes, choose headset and run the script. Thanks.

Here you go.

It doesn't show anything.

Is it maybe because I used a live wifislax usb?

I have no experience with wifislax, but I guess hda-verb is not installed. Does apt-get install not work?

I think hda-verb is part of alsa-tools. Type "sudo apt install alsa-tools" into the Terminal. If it does not work, you can try Ubuntu live

Tried usubtu live , same empty result.

Maybe something wrong with the file itself?

Type "hda-verb 0x0 0xf00 0x0" into the Terminal, you should see the vendor/deviceID. If that works the script should also work. If not, try to install the alsa-tools on Ubuntu.

Sorry my friend.

As I said I never used ubuntu/linux before.

Can't find how to install alsa tools. Apt get command not working.

@wern apfel, somehow I did it. Attached the output.

It didn't ask me if I wanted to choose the source.

Are you asked to choose MIC, HP, headset on Linux?

Try them all with layout 21

kext v4 and v5 don't work.

kext v1 , v2, v3 have the problem with injecting the line in. After a while there is a high noise from extrnal speakers.

Attacing the settings that work (from your previous kext) in case it helps you.

Do you need CodecCommander with the working kext?

Hi to everyone and thanks in advance.

I have some problem with the sound coming from the headphones. Currently using latest AppleALC, but the problem was here also with all th previous versions.

Here is some info and attached CodecID.

1. Laptop Model: Acer Aspire Nitro VN7-791G

2. Codec Name: Realtek ALC283/0x10EC0283

3. Layouts used: 1,3,11,13,15,44,45,66, 88

Layout 01: Only Headphones and Line In are working with perfect sound quality

Layout 03: Internal Speakers, Internal Mic, Line In are working, Headphones work but the sound is very low and there is some crackling noise

    Layouts 11, 13, 15, 44, 45, 66, 88: Nothing works

4. macOS: Tried on Catalina and Big Sur

New Codec dump from Linux

Hi, I was using AppleALC without an issue for long. I hadn't updated it for a year or so. recently updated clover as well as AppleALC after that audio stopped working.

I am using Lilu 1.5.5 . kextstat only showing AppleHDAController but no AppleHDA or AppleALC.

Laptop : Lenovo ideapad 310

Codec : CX20751/2

Previously working Layout id = 3

config.plist codec_dump.txt

Hmm

Now Clover got some changes, did you set the quirks correctly?

You can take a look at this guide:

Thank you so much for pointing out the issue from clover side.

Somehow with latest clover, AppleALC was not loading with "clover legacy layout-id inject" or "alcid=XX" or layout-id SSDT.

Injecting layout id using device properties fixed the issue.

Hello. I'm here again asking for help on the CX8400 AppleALC patch, included on the version 1.3.5.

  • Added CX8400 layout-id 12 for Elitebook 1050 G1 by tyufhl & kuque

My Acer laptop barely works with it, there is no speakers output and got microfone input issues.

I use to connect it to a bluetooth speaker to listen for music but nowadays using the laptop to work... and can't make meetings.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I would like to ask for small assistance with ALC1220-VB on Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite AX. I've tested all of the available layouts, unfortunately while the device is detected and outputs are enumerated correctly there is no sound and the media playback is frozen at 0:00. Unfortunately I've failed with the patch since I cannot overcome the problem with frozen playback. In the attachment I've sent link to the full SysReport file and codec dump from Linux.

I'd appreciate every support since this is the only issue with the setup.

Cheers
