rjtd
I wonder: How long will it take for a release of JaS DVD with kernels for SSE2 Intel? Do the proprietary kexts still work with this kernel? What about callisto? Great wokr guys
Michael
this is really great... (i have been trying to build a kernel to use for server only stuff... dont even need a gui). One question??? where do you get the 10.4.8 source? i can only see 10.4.7 on the site? is there a repository for live update? :-(
lostsoftware
im happy guys. its amazing that its LEGAL. when i get out of class im going on to work on some kernel mods for AMD. THANK YOUU
sandmanfvrga
Ok from what I gather you hacked the darwin kernel and made it work with OSX? That is cool. So doing it this way makes it legal? Funny stuff. Just wish it would run on SSE AMD's. All I got
Rammjet
makes it legal? The source code he published is legal because he removed the "illegal" stuff from it. But you can't get a working kernel without adding the bad stuff back in. So the finished kernel is "illegal".
semthex
@Rammjet: sure, but I don't wanted to get in legal trouble with pubishing Apples TPM keys lol. Who needs them knows where to get them. I just was contacted by Ars Technica :-D
aberracus
Semthex inform arstechnica only teh minimum nesesary, just sinle user mode without gui...

Careless
AMD and SSE3 emulation for programs is next to go. I am also lookin at some other cat ;-) so when that is done, how will this be useable, as on "the register" website they say that the GUI is inoperable as of yet. does this mean that the new kernel will be injected into a released version of 10.4.8 that we can all use with GUI, and then allow it to boot without using hacked files and decryptors? again, great work. this scene lives on with contributors like you and everyone involved in providing some help! enjoy the rewards! Prasys
Could you pass the SSE3 instructions to the processor , if the processor supports it
cwalk
I know AMD SSE3 and SSE2 solutions have yet to be developed, but does anyone think that a SSE solution is possible? I would love to see OSX work on my Athlon XP.
asapreta
I think when you are using a SSE2 processor, an extra application (or the kernel itself) emulates the SSE3 needed by the OS. Imagine a SSE processor doing this?!
fireshark
It would be ridiculously slow, like in QEMU that does its own SSE2 emulation
