It should be easier (technically) to run a 10.4.8 kernel on a Core Duo because of certain power management instructions that are specific to a Core Duo's architecture. That's why all kernels since the 10.4.4 release haven't been able to run on the majority of our CPUs. If the 10.4.8 kernel was really patched, this is big news.
