@ BRAHMAN

hi

if you had a different experience with Microsoft, it's ok, we will not blame you

but I don't think it's an appropriate place for this

you can share your thoughts but in a friendly vibe

and sometimes, it's better to do it in private

I hope you understand   ^_^

regards

ok, let's be focused on the thread    :P

A while back, there was discussion about whether to install Security Update 2014-002.  I don't recall any definitive answer to the question.  I have indeed installed it and it immediately broke the boot (duh).  However, reinstalling mach_kernel and running kext utility to regen the cache fixed it.  So, only a small problem easily overcome

really strange, on sp1 its a safe update...

nice you found a fix and shared a solution!

i think that most updates on the sp2 need kernel reinstallation.

on sp1 we are running stock kernel so maybe that's why its a one click update.

Are you booting by hitting return at the prompt, or do you go down into the boot menu and use "without caches and with injected kext"?  I'm just hitting return and using the normal boot.  I've seen occassions where OS X disabled kext it didn't like.  The kext utility cleans that up for me.

I have a first gen 128GB Surface Pro.  I have followed the directions several times (formatting and reformatting the USB drive (and tried MicroSD as well) to get the OSX install on the USB along with Clover.  I can boot off the USB but the OSX install partition does not show.  What the heck am I doing wrong?!  (USB is formatted GUID, restored base image, copied packages, install Clover, copied plist and patches, extracted kernel and copied kexts.)

hmmm, i can't get display port to work all of a sudden.  the last major thing i did was do the security update.  is anyone having a similar issue?

Repatching your CapriFB with the tool:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/296669-hackintosh-vietnam-ultimate-aio-tool-for-hackintosh/?hl=+hackintosh%20+vietnam

Select Kexts > Graphics > HD4000 DP/HDMI port.

right on!  thank you very much.  that is an excellent tool.  very comprehensive.  do you know if this allows for audio via DP?  i didn't have an hdmi monitor to test it.

this is a clover efi folder, with removed the smbios from the config.plist, you have to generate your own serial... ;)

@hamido123

it's a nice theme, i don't remember where i got it :/

@truebeliever71

thanks for following the thread rules,

we don't encurage external drive or sd card installation, but we can try to help,

have you tried using different clover versions?

if you tried without success, you can try to use the clover efi folder i've posted for hamido123 to check if your clover install is corrupted or not.

...just wanna know: did you do the kernal extraction with pacifist??

how many boot options you have in the clover bootscreen... what are they called?

"clean install" or did you left the Win8-Part on the drive?

@ JahStories

I attempted this a both a 16GB thumbdrive and the MircoSD.  I have tried using the one packaged with the v4 download and (both upgraded and fresh) version v2k_2652 (latest vers via direct downloaded from their site.)   I'll try replace the EFI folder as suggested.

@caleidosCope

If I use the v4 packaged vers of Clover I get a total of 6 options (Win from Legacy HD1, Win from Sys, Win from Legacy HD4, Win from Leg HD5, MS EFI from Sys, UEFI from Sys), if I use the latest vers I only get one(MS EFI from System).  I am not doing a clean install as I would like to run both OSes and possibly try installing Android as well.  If the OSX and Android work out well then I will consider wiping it clean and going with the OSX/Android dualboot.

did you try to boot of the lagacy ones... one by one? and you say its guid (usb-stick) - which format did you choose... MacOS extended (journaled)?

Yes I did.  Some of them do nothing at all and one boots into Win8.  I formatted both the microsd and stick as MacOS extended (journaled) and made sure the GUID partition was selected.

I also want to note that I followed the video tutorial someone posted for the Surface2 for the visual queues noting the differences in the instructions between the two.

I just downloaded and copied your Clover folder over and still only get 1 option.  Boot MS EFI from Sys.   :(
