Forced a reboot and this got stuck, no special errors as such in verbose... Oh well.... JaS, any plans for an AMD SSE2 version ? Thanks in advance... mka101 Posted October 5, 2006 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Arggh i just fubared my installed. I accidently clicked on the update again and forced closed it. My Gutt was saying to re-install the update again but for some stupid reason i didn't. Is there anyway i can apply the update again through single mode or xp? I really don't want to re-install everything from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. macmaniac Posted October 6, 2006 Share Posted October 6, 2006 I reluctantly updated from JaS10.4.7 (working great) to 10.4.8 with my fingers crossed. I am happy to report that everything still works as before. Pro apps all working (final cut, dvd studio, aperture 1.5). EDIT: oh yeah, system profiler now reports unknown processor 2 X 4Ghz, but hardware profiler still identifies Pentium D (2@4GHz) A BIG thanks to JaS, Kiko and others for all the hard work in keeping our hackintoshes up to date. chevy2410 Posted October 6, 2006 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Hey all, I just wanted to say that I installed the Jas 10.4.8 update and all is well except for one thing and I don't think it was caused by this update. When I go to the "about this Mac" tab and check the specs, I noticed that is says for CPU type 2 x 3.8ghz. I have a Pentium D930. I have read that it's not really an issue, but I was just curious if everyone gets the same thing or close to it? Now don't if anyone else has this problem or not, but when I go to close the "about this Mac" tab the screen go blue for a second and then the keyboard identifer window pops up. I am using a microsoft keyboard and not an apple one yet. Once I get past that then I have to log back into my account. It's kinda annoying. Does anyone else have these issues? BTW thanks so much Jas and Kiko for all the work you guys put into this stuff. You guys ROCK!! A kind of SHAPESHIFTER theme Well, one of 2 things is going on here... 1) You are not using shapeshifter but some other similar program, or... 2) you are running a genuine Intel Mac and telling us all that you are using a hackintosh so you can feel like part of the crowd. Now I see your screenshot shows "Unknown" for the CPU, so that would mean that you are running hackintosh, but Shapeshifter requires "Application Enhancer" which currently runs on PPC only. Intel version is in the works, but not available. So, unless you know of a hack around for Shapeshifter that you can share with the rest of us, or another program that does the same thing as Shapeshifter, I don't see how you can possibly be running it on your hackintosh. I updated using the SSE3 Intel Update from JaS I moved the postflight.script in the Resources folder before installing the update. I have these issues. I can't open disk utility. I can't mount any disks. If i use spotlight to search and click show all results spotlight crashes and reopens. I tried to use disk utility from 10.4.6 but it won't open. I tried repairing permissions from the 10.4.3 DVD and still no luck. I also get these decoding messages while booting. Any help please? If I got fubared is there any easy way to revert 10.4.8 installation? OK now without doing anything more when I boot I get to the desktop and just before spotlight loads OS X hangs. Please let me know what to do. I have also downloaded the Combo 10.4.8 update would I be able to install it over JaS 10.4.8 from safe mode or something. Would it fix my issues?
