I'm using a IOGear GBU521 Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle. My Apple Bluetooth keyboard works perfectly. Also I can pair with the speaker just fine, it says it's connected ok and displays the correct device name (Bose soundlink mini). It just won't show in the output devises in sound.[/size]

I'm using the GBU521 also. I can pair and use my wireless soundsticks III just fine. Odd that yours isn't working.

Thanks Baldy man, I've now ordered the bit to make my own.

Strange. Anyway I'll try with an apple bluetooth chip, and if it doesn't work that should eliminate the GBU521 as the culprit.

Thanks for the link, but I'll never be buying anything ever again from Quo. Not a good company to deal with in you have a faulty product from my experience.

My next desktop computer will likely just be an imac or something, as that is what I should of just got to begin with as it would have saved me an incredible amount of hassle.

except no one from quickstarter received the module : I got the board, not the BT/Wifi for my pledge.

Has anyone had any success making a FW800 bracket?

I support your post.  I am quite surprised that in the mackintosh modding community, nobody seems to have found a  solution for this. I have seen a lot of cable customization for macs, why does it look so difficult to find a solution for this problem ? Unhappily, I am not myself enough technically informed to do so. I hope somebody can help on this.

I talk for myself, but this is this maybe the same for the other one ?

People choosing the Quo board, choose that mob because the advertising explain :

The first motherboard designed to run any Operating System you choose out of the box.

The other people run any OS with any Asus or Gigabyte board :-) and they are maybe able to build more by themselves ?

This is just my point of view...

Update :

Connector on the board : we have diagram in the user manual on CD with the board...

Someone ready to do that ? :-)

Best solution for Bluetooth plugs right into MoBo USB Header all internal no need to sacrifice valuable external USB ports.

Little Pricey but it does the trick not bad for $60

-Antenna with adhesive

-No Driver Needed Apple Chipset

-USB Header Connector

When I bought this Dec'13 he had several for sale on eBay now I can't find any. Contact the seller if you'd like find some leads...  cj737271

Thanks mate, I tried to contact him but he did not reply. I've just built my own tonight and it works perfectly with my Bose Soundlink Mini. So it looks like it was the bluetooth that was the culprit (thanks macgrummel).

Thanks for everyones help.

I've been emailing quite a few cable sellers with a scan of the manual's header diagram to no success. I thought I'd found the part at this Aussie company but just heard back it is Firewire 400 only. I'm now just waiting to hear back from the local Gigabyte service team (not to mention too many unanswered Quo emails~!) otherwise I'll start making one.

I'm taking the liberty of republishing a comment by [Alex] on the Kickstarter page on August 8 last year thats hidden away by all the comments of people still waiting for their boards. it contains a half dozen links to parts that will probably of use. You should look through the comments from this era for a few suggestions from others. I probably won't have a chance for the next few weeks but will keep you posted of any progress.

@Skydog198:

I posted that same link as well, but I think the part is more likely discontinued than out of stock.

@tplen1 & anyone who cares about a 1394b solution:

If it becomes necessary to make a cable, there are a few ways to acheive the same end result, depending on how much effort and $ you want to invest. You can either make your own cable from "scratch" usikng fresh components or canabalize different used or "deadstock" cables. Making the cable from "fresh" components always has more appeal for me, unless it's too cost prohibitive.

Either way, keep in mind whether you plan to mount the solution to the back of your case (via a pci-slot bracket), or to the front of your case (via a panel-mount plug, or a male header).

I plan to replace a USB 2 panel-mounted port on the front of my chassis, so I'll be going the panel-mount route.

Below are some of more relevant links I've found so far. Many other more suitable options I found were either "out of stock" or "discontinued." Also, I have not necessarily looked for the cheapest sources to buy these parts just yet, so you may be abel to find them elsewhere for a cheaper price.

Also below is the wording of my enquiry emails...

I'm writing about the 2port 1394 Cable and Header Plate for Gigabyte Motherboards - CAB-1394-GIG sold by your cplcable.com.au site. I'm trying to work out a few things but can't see the front face in detail and the description is fairly vague.

Could you please tell me how many pins the internal header has, and what kind of firewire ports are on the front? (i.e. 6 or 4 pin 1394/1394a or nine pin 1394b... images of the various ports here). If at all possible a clear photo would be much appreciated.

The reason I'm asking is I'm looking for a bracket for a Z77 series Gigabyte board that has a Texas Instruments XIO2213B chipset onboard but didn't come with the included brackets. The board was custom made and it appears the designer and reseller never got around to stocking the brackets.

It is described as providing "Up to 2 IEEE 1394b ports available through the internal IEEE 1394b headers" and I've attached a page from the manual showing the pinout for the two Firewire 800 motherboard headers.

I've also reached out to a Kansas based company that used to sell FW800 panel-mount cables and still does custom cable orders to see what it would cost to make something compatible with this board's Firewire headers.

Presuming this is possible, who here would purchase one if the price was reasonable?

I am waiting for the :

  • Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter with built-in Thunderbolt cable

Adaptateur Thunderbolt vers FireWire Apple

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapter?fnode=5b3abcc454654c56a0e1d775d3d6376db8041083c9ce7e2898d21e1eb184a3ad08b295a0f90c525399dc4295859b551fedf4e344b215f60796dcecee09fa49a6

I test that one with:

- compact card reader.

_ HD 3,5 external.

- External dock

- Video Can

I don't use Thunderbolt, I don't have any device, if I can use oupout for something.

I read somewhere in that post, this is not plug and play and must be connect at start up...

More details after April 7

Now that  I have an apple bluetooth adaptor, does anyone know how to get to bios with a stumpy apple bluetooth key board (there is no obvious Del key)?

If I press F12 I can get to boot menu ok, so I know the keyboard will work in bios ok, if only I can get there...

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update to confirm that both my Radeons 7750 (HIS + Sapphire) are working side by side with the latest bios (894) in Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.9.2.

CROSSFIRE IS WORKING TOO!! :)) (tested with unigen benchmark tool, FPS more or less double with Xfire active in catalyst center - note windows only of course)

I've heard back from the company and they would be able to make an adaptor cable that goes from the motherboard header to a panel-mount Firewire 800, but it would be expensive. They've quoted on a range of volumes and it is $40-$50 US depending on how many are ordered. The real kicker is that you'd need to order two to use both ports.

I don't have the money to do a bulk order and on send to people in these forums and as an Australian it makes less sense given shipping costs. This said, if anyone had the ability I'd be very happy to PM/email the details I have and would definitely purchase one adaptor.

In the interim, its back to Plan B for me. I've ordered one of these off eBay and am going to try splice each of the Firewire 400 & 800 port's wires onto a new header. It will not be perfect but it'll meet my needs.

Incidentally, Quo finally answered responded to one of multiple questions for an ETA on the brackets and suggestions of alternate sources. "There is no outside source to get this. We will be producing a bracket." Go figure.

Yeah I get it too. Got it on the last bios also. I just hit the restart button and it usually boots right up. A minor annoyance but not a huge deal. I just wish I could get iMessage/FaceTime to work on the new bios.

Type this in terminal "sudo nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:ROM="
