  1. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

I’m sure somebody’s working on it. I think Oz development is pretty much dead. The devs are (hopefully still) working on Open Core last I’d heard. Unless somebody around here patches Oz like what happened with Sierra.

I believe I've located my issue. Not sure why it uploaded sideways.
  3. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Thanks I'll try and get in and take a look. If nothing else I'll order a new one and it can go towards my next build.

Well I think my computer just died. Might just be the power supply. Starts to turn on, fans start spinning, then it shuts off. Once I got a boot configuration error message so I set it to optimized settings but still nothing. Pulled the 690 and I'm trying to boot off the igpu but I'me getting a black screen, but it hasn't shut off so maybe the 690 died. It still lit up on the side before I pulled it. Any thoughts? I've been waiting for OpenCore and the 1080ti before I started a new build, but might have to just do it and use Windows 10 for awhile. Just got into bios and it seems really sluggish. Set it to igpu first but still just a black screen. Maybe it's the board itself.

Doesn't it need to be diskutil mount /dev/diskxs1? You know where the x is your disk number found in diskutil list? It can be done in terminal. As far as MacPro5,1, I think you can do it but you have to remove a particular kext or it won't boot. IMac 14,2 is what I use for simplicity's sake.

Sure and then when your hard drive or CPU or graphics card fails or needs to be replaced or upgraded you have no recourse but to buy a completely new machine. You're entitled to your opinion and can do whatever you want but nobody cares about your personal feelings on our hardware or how we spent our money. It's been running great for like 4 years and was more than worth it. Save it for a "what should I buy for my build" thread. I'll personally be ready to upgrade everything once open core is released. That thread will probably warrant hardware opinions.

Don't discount things you'd never think would affect it either. I remember when I was having issues booting with my GTX 690 after my sierra install and it turned out to be my WD thunderbolt time machine drive. Unplugged it and it booted no problem. But that 660 might be it too. Removing it and booting with one monitor off the iGPU might get you into the installer. Another of my problems was that I was somehow unknowingly using an internal test build of Oz, but that's probably not it.

I'm not the expert here, but did you just hold S or Command+S? According to the Ozmosis read me it should be the latter. I've found it easier to do if I hit f12 at boot to bring up the boot list and then hold command+s (or command+v for verbose boot) immediately after you hit enter on your selection.

It's evolving into a new thing. I'm pretty excited about what they've got I'm the works.
  10. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Well, it's more than I get. I'll see how it goes with the new cable and thunderbolt adapter on the off chance this firewire cable is bad, but it's probably just a dead camera. Even if it works, sounds like it's not really functional under Sierra. Disappointing but I suppose it's to be expected. It's decade-old tech, after all. Guess I'll have to buy an ugly but superior current webcam. Thanks for checking it out for me. Much appreciated.
  11. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Yeah I've read a couple things that seem to confirm it should work as of El Capitan at least. It's probably dead. I've got a 400>800 cable and Apple thunderbolt adapter on the way. If it doesn't work with that it ain't gonna work.
  12. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Hey So my webcam broke and I figured I'd give an old external iSight a try. Plugged it into the firewire port and I get nothing. I've never used the firewire port, but as far as I know it should be functional, right? I guess I'm just wondering if A) the firewire port should work, B ) if it works under Sierra, or C) if the external iSights are SOL under Sierra or earlier versions of OS X. It could also be that the iSight is just broken. I don't have any other firewire peripherals to test the port, but the firewire bus is showing up in System Profiler. I'm mostly just wondering if I'm wasting my time with it. I sure do miss the nice industrial design it has. I don't really care about the image quality, but it'd be nice to be able to use Siri.

Yeah I had no idea. I couldn't boot with the patched xmas bios, but I could with the Mac mini bios. I figured it was the same bios with a different sysdef. I'm gonna give the patched xmas one a try again. This one works great except when I restart (via menu or case button) on startup the display comes on but hangs at a black screen before the board info even comes up (with the sata info before f12 option or Apple boot logo). I have to either shutdown from menu or hold the power button down to kill it.
  14. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Yeah we worked it out. I did have my boot drive in SATA0, but something about my thunderbolt RAID backup drive was causing Ozmosis to create the Efi/Oz folder on one of the disks making up the RAID, and I assume look there for the Oz folder. I unplugged the drive and voila, it worked like a champ. Not sure if it was RAID thing or a thunderbolt thing. Was also wrecking havoc on my graphics card functionality. Either way, as The King pointed out, it's an unofficial beta or patch or whatever. I just gotta stop going for unconventional peripherals and keep it simple. Just causes me problems. And The King with a BOMBSHELL. Very interesting. RIP Ozmosis. Long live Open Core.
  15. New OS X compatible motherboard -> QUO

Well some of these problems I was having back on El Cap on the X-MASS bios. Could never get defaults.plist working from EFI. The GPU problems were a new wrinkle. I thought this was just a patch to the X-MASS bios they cooked up over on the Ozmosis thread. Consider this beta feedback
