Anyone know how to configure SMBIOS in #####? There must be a sulition to fix the men and CPU info without modify the OS.

I know this is just a preview release, will be better support in the future!

Btw, anyone here get Sleep / Reboot / Stutdown to work property?

Not work here at all. I use my DSDT from Snow Leopard setup.

In my case, I think it is no much more attention to do so. I install it, sleep reboot and shutdown works like snow leo, but something do not work. So, just wait the beta to send.

If you installed XPC/##### and get the BError, or you don't know how to install #####/XPC, here's a short tutorial.

NOTE: The USB flash drive on which you install #####/XPC will be used just to boot and NOT install Lion on it !

To install ##### (this works for XPC too, you just have to copy the files from XPC instead of #####) here's what you need to do :

1. Partition your USB flash drive to MBR and 1 partition MS-DOS (FAT) using Disk Utility

2. Download the XPC Boot Prepare Tool from here (http://cl.ly/240u3i0O0k3F33053M46)

3. Run the tool and select as destination your USB flash drive (if you select something else you will lose data as it reformats the destination !!!)

Note: After the tool is done eject and replug the flash drive. It should have now the name EFI FAT32

4. After the tool is done you need to download the ##### files from here (or somewhere else) :

##### 1.2 - http://cl.ly/3N3N342H3q2F2q3w3C3g

Older ##### - http://cl.ly/3z3k0s252B0F1D291v2s

5. Copy the files from the ##### archive to the root of your USB flash drive

6. Copy your DSDT.aml on the USB flash drive in /efi/acpi/oem/

That's it ! You are ready to boot 10.7 using #####. Hope it helped :(

Since creating this thread I was on track to install it. Here is how I have done it. Let me know if you have any trouble with the steps presented here :

Hardware : P5QPro Motherboard

CPU : Core 2 Quad

RAM : 8GB

Graphics Card : MSI HAWK ATI R 5770 Graphics Card

What works

Everything apart from Shutdown and Reboot.

Whats awesome is, My MSI 5770 graphics card now detects all ports and configures it properly without adding any additional kexts. Everything works just out of the box. Another thing is I have been able to use all previous kexts successfully here including Audio, Ethernet, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext, etc. So keep those handy

Here is How to do it :

1. Preparing #####. (Very important Step).

This is not the ##### based on chameleon (so don't download from Tonymacx86) but something more closer to mac. It is a duet based EFI boot loader. The developer has posted a link at http://osx86.co/f36/new-duet-based-efi-bootloader-t6383/ . It is developed by OS_Ninja. Download the archive on a Windows. I am using Windows because it is easy and it works. The folder includes ##### Setup Tool (Windows). Start the setup tool. Click Format. Remove and Re-Insert the flash Drive then Click Install #####.

2. Boot Snow Leopard and do the following (copying and correcting steps given by blade5502)

Mount 10.7 image

in Terminal:

open /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg

Restore “Mac OS X Base System” to a partition (diskutility) //You should have 2 free Partitions: 1 for Installation Files ond another for the System should be installed.

Remove “Packages” alias from System/Installation on that partition

in Terminal: sudo cp -R /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/Packages /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Installation

3. Installing fakesmc (very important)

Copy fakesmc.kext to System/Library/Extensions of Mac OS X Base System Installation . Set the proper permissions for next :

$ chown -R 0:0 fakesmc.kext

$ chmod -R 755 fakesmc.kext

4. Boot from the ##### USB drive

Type U to cycle between resolution. Select the Mac OS X Base System Installation Disc,

Install as usual. If you are stuck at colored wheel then fakemc has some problem in loading.

5. Reboot to Snow Leopard

Remove /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist from Mac OS Lion partition

6. Reboot to Mac OS X Lion (Using ##### USB Disc of course)

Copy all the device specific kexts to System/Library/Extensions . Set the correct permissions (see above) and reboot.

Enjoy. Hopefully now you will have a complete system.

Witch Sata Controller you have? If you have an controller that is not supported OOB you need to also copy this to /S/L/E!

AHCI enabled in Bios?

I got it boot at last, had to enable AHCI in Bios, but just a small but important notice: partition scheme has to be GUID and not MBR... Too bad, I can't format my hard drive right now :/.

I have successfully installed this thing yet I am unable to get my GTX 260 working at native resolution. It will only use the resolution that this XPC/##### stick is set to which only gives me to 1280x1024.

Any suggestions? It also states my GFX card is 5mb in System Info.

I have GUID as partition scheme, but i have still waiting for root device during installation...(in my notebook with AHCI active, where snow works perfectly)

Hi everyone,

First wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped others in booting Mac OS X Lion and the guides that they wrote :(.

Now, for my question. Have been able to boot Lion with #####, but when I get out of verbose and I see the wallpaper of lion, the language selector screen is in the upper left corner (I can only see half of it). My mouse works, but I can't select the language english (because that option isn't visible, because I can only see half of that window...). When I select a language with my keyboard (and press enter), I can see that the installer is preparing installation, but after that, the screen becomes grey (not black, so it's not like the graphic driver fails or my screen is turned off, Mac OS X is still "loaded)....

Clearly a graphic issue, but I have a Radeon 4870 XFX in my machine, have also tried manually setting the resolution and loading ATY_init from netkas (his new lion version), but keep having the same issue.

Really frustrating to get this far and seeing that wallpaper and (half of) that window and then getting a grey screen XD.

Has anyone experienced the same/does anyone have a solution?

PS: have snow leo perfectly working on this machine.

MoBo : Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR rev1.1 F12b

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8300@4x3.0GHz

Ram : 4x 2GB DDR2 800 Cruzial

HDD WD 500 GB 7200

GFX: Asus HD5850 DirectCU

if someone have an idea how i can speed up lion i would be happy to read it here :P

Tring to make a installable usb stick

you will need 2 8gig, or 1 8gig and a larger gig usb stick. ( but it has to be 2 usb stick)

if using 2 usb make second usb unformated or delete any partition on it.

Question:

can a .dmg be restored to a usb-stick, with 2 partitions?

just whated to know anyone with a working ##### usb to try this:

get a 8gig usb-stick, used lion and make 2 partition on the usb stick

1st parttiton 1gig (FAT32) and 2nd partition 7gig(MAC)

if you have a 16gig or larger usb stick, then only 1 usb stick is needed, just partition it like this

make 3 partitions: 1st-1gb(FAT32), 2nd-7gb(MAC), 3rd-8gb(unformat)

(i have no idea how to do this but make image of you ##### and restore it to the 1st partition (FAT32))

i a nut shell copy your ##### usb to the 1gig partition of your 8gig usb stick.

then the partition you installed lion from, the one you:

Restore “Mac OS X Base System” to , and made a few changes, like fakesmc ...etc.

copy that partition to the 2nd partition of the 8gig usb stick

(i don not know how to do this, but i will like it if some one with terminal and diskutil skill help)

now unmount the 8gig usb stick and try this:

disconnect all hard drives from your computer:

make sure that ##### run from the 8gig ( i have not tried ##### so i dont know how to select boot partition to installed lion)

one you can boot #####, power down the machine.

if you have 1 usb stick with 16gb or greater do #2 else do #1 :

#1

put your newly created ##### 8gig in you machine and also put your second usb stick in as-well

now power on you machine, and installed lion as you normally would, but the the second usb as you hard drive.

let me know it it works!

on you new 8gig what size is 1st partition( use & free)?, 2nd partition (use & free)?

on you other usb stick what is the partition size (use & free)?

#2

put your newly created ##### usb stick in you machine and power it on, and installed lion as you normally would, but use the 3rd partition for your install hard drive.

now let me know:

1st partition( use & free)?

2nd partition (use & free)?

3nd partition (use & free)?

Thank you.

i am on windows and i am using poweriso 4.7

i can open mac_os_x_10_7_11a390.dmg and extract BaseSystem.dmg from it, but i can not open BaseSystem.dmg with poweriso 4.7

how can i open it? from windows

installed Lion via my MBP just to get it up and running.

When I try to install the new ##### the terminal commands don't seem to be working out for me so I tried restoring the .dmg that blade provided but it doesn't boot for some reason not sure why.

Might just wait for a more straightforward way of doing it.

EDIT: I just set up the usb (was mistyping rdisk dunno why) ##### boots to a black screen on my gigabyte board.

I got it boot at last, had to enable AHCI in Bios, but just a small but important notice: partition scheme has to be GUID and not MBR... Too bad, I can't format my hard drive right now :/.

Same for me.

The great way, usable before with 10.4...10.6 to edit OSInstall.mpkg to allow MBR beside GUID target volume fails in my first try.

Thats the way in normally works:

copy orig. OSInstall.mpkg in an folder on the desktop

start terminal, cd to that folder

to decompress :

xar -x -f ./OSInstall.mpkg

Now you see all content - for us file distribution is used. Xou can use Textedit to open it.

Now remove "eraseOptionAvailable='true'" from text, very early in the file.

Save file

before recompress, move the orig. mpkg out of that folder (otherwise it would be included)

to compress (make modded .mpkg):

xar -c -f OSInstall.mpkg *

Perhaps something other need to change with 10.7 or, the installer itself now didnt allow MBR installs.

Last, but not least HINT for thatmount ...., kextload FakeSMC.kext (i would use no plugins in that early stage!)

You dont nead that mount ... command!

i copied that kext to the / (root) of the install Volume (chown -R root:wheel after)

Then boot in single user mode

Then simple kextload FakeSMC.kext

exit

- worked for me :P

Hey guys, I get up to the boot screen and everything, I choose language, and then it goes “Cannot install Mac OS X”!

I go into the console/log thing, and it says “Couldn’t find Mac OS X (Server) install data.

What’s wrong?

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install #####.

2. Restore BaseSystem.dmg to spare partition.

3. Reboot.

4. Comes up fine, select “English”.

5. Fail.

Please help!

Have you checked teh server install ? Perhaps look in the install options and deselct server install.

For my knowledge the .mpkg has some script to check some files needed if server install is selected and fails if you dont have already any server install.

Nevermind~

I got it working as before I was copying the "pkg" files into the "Installation" folder instead of copying the actually "Package" folder there.

So now I have the setup running, waiting for install.

Thanks for the help guys!

Alright guys, success!

I have Lion running up and smoothly... ish...

What works:

- Lion OS

- QE/CI (ATi Radeon Gigabyte HD 5670 1GB - detected as ATi Radeon HD 5000 1024 MB Graphics); includes all ports i.e. HDMI, DVI, VGA ports.

- Sound (Using USB headphones - Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000)

- USB Ports

What doesn't:

- Shutdown/Restart functionalit

- Sleep

- Full hardware detection

- Using DSDT (causes HPET error?)

If you would like me to post up a full tutorial + images, please say so. It'll take me a day since I am a busy person.

Side notes: Safari 5.1 is pretty cool!

and yeah, I'd be ranting on about the animations and how I like them and when no one else does. It's not THAT buggy is it? Maybe I'm just not a tech freak. But yeah.

Big thanks to those who helped out on this, I would not have done it without you, keep up the good efforts.

Maybe in a few months time, everything will work on the developer version. And then the real Lion comes out of the jungle, shouldn't take too long to adapt.
