This is on Dell E1505.

How do I find if I have 9220/9200/922x??

James2: If you need a tester for the above config.. I can help. I know my way around Unix but no coding :-(

Imma try my hand at it. I took computer science in college, but didn't really pay attention to the hardware integration part of the class, but I will try. If anyone has any information about a BSD driver or an ALSA driver let me know. I will be looking at james2mart's source code that he has opened. I gotta get this working on my dell e310, it would roxxors.

Well, I wonder, is this project still "Work in Progress" or it is dead ?

I use now the drivers that come with bootcamp in win, to get sound from my sigmatel with no more jack switch all the time when I move from OSX to win .... but, no more 5.1 .... so, this fix is only temporary.. (hope so)... If someone is still working on this ..., I want to tank in advance !

OK, maybe let's close this project and open new one. Generic HDA driver for OS X (with a lot o codecs support). I don't think, that apple will release their kexts anymore. There are lot of info in AppleAC97Audio.

So what do you think?

i think it's odd to think about a generic hda driver (dunno even if that's possible) while still there isn't any driver support for sigmatel 9200 (although 9220 works, this is a little weird, how much different can the two chips be?)

It's more than possible. Sigmatel 9200 it's generic HDA codec with custom initialization procs and codec verbs. Simply it seems, that this project is dead. And I'm for example not interested to programm only Sigmatel driver, cause I have ALC888 :)

First time stopping in for a while, but yes I have been still actively working on this when I can. I wish I could say my health was better, but it's really not.

theoretical progress: quite a bit

realistic progress: not as much...

meaning I have a lot of code laying around... that needs to start being pieced together.
