also important which graphics card you have. I can tell you that there is no real solution for gma950 users on E1505. You can get it to "sleep" with the lid closing, but it's actually not real sleep (the power button is not blinking, but steady). So, it kinda works. If you bring the system to sleep via apple menu it will wake up to a black screen - well known for gma950. This should work with Nvidia cards as others have posted though. powermanagement works with these kexts. You also need to make sure you have the right kernel with this. it's either sleep or speedstep kernel. the one that allows sleep will not allow full powermanagement.it would help people if you posted your system specs, most importantly which dell, graphics card...from your comment "v8" I guess you refer to EFI. You may have to use the "correct" kernel is my first guess. but without knowing your system it's just guessing. let us know.

Thanks! I'm using a Nvidia card. My problem isn't even that the sleep doesn't work -- I can't even get a power meter and it also seems like my cpu is running way hotter than it did in Tiger.

Edit: nevermind, thanks. I got it working.

Some news for "Dual-Booters":

Lenka-Penka find a way to use MediaDirect button for dual booting. (Tested and approved)

Here he's topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=102227

thanks, I got mine to work via this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread...9086&page=5 a while back. I am now just using MD3's disk preparation tool and copy images of Vista and OSX onto the two partitions that are available (dual boot via tboot) via Acronis TrueImage. Since it's a good idea to have an image of a working OS anyway this is a good fix for MD3 in case it gets broken.

can anyone please give me step by step instructions on how to install power management on a dell e1705?

everything else works except sound but i installed the hdc drivers in kalaway and im pretty sure thats gonna work

fixed

i installed kalway 10.5.2 with all those plugins and such

I am considering getting a Dell Vostro 1310. I think I am getting a great deal from Dell on this notebook, but I am not sure.

I do not know if I will have any issues with these specs and would greatly appreciate any comments.

These are the specs:

Vostro 1310, Intel Core 2 Duo T5870, 2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2M L2 Cache

13.3 inch Widescreen WXGA LCD TrueLife

1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 DIMM

128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Graphics

160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor

Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0

Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card

Integrated 1.3 Mega Pixel Webcam and Digital Microphone

8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability

Intel 965PM Express chipset + 128MB NVIDIA® GeForceTM 8400M GS (64 bit) Graphic Card

Biometric fingerprint reader

For any Canadians that are interested, I have this quoted at $886.07 (gst and pst included).

For the graphics and chipset, this is my other option:

Intel GM965 Express chipset +Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

For the wireless, these are my other options:

Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card or

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Mini-card or

Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-card or

Bluetooth: Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Module

Thank you very much for your help.

My Dell Inspiron 1520 gets stuck trying to boot the install DVD.

This is the last thing I see with every kernel option (Kalyway 10.5.2 and Leo4Allv2 10.5.2)

-------------------------

MAC Framework successfully initialized

using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23

[]

---------------------------------------------

iATKOSv2 10.5.1 boots up but it's only 10.5.1

I have the EXSACT same problem, same error and same results as you.

I am currently using a Dell XPS 1730.

Kinda frustrating. I dont think it is common enough for people to want to touch on this yet. I am sure it will be looked into shortly.

Looks like for most of us Dell users we are stuck with 10.5.1. You could always use the kalyway update

I am trying to install kalyway 10.5.2 on my 1520 laptop but it locks up before it reaches the installer. Can anybody help me.

I can get leo4all to install, but i can't get graphics to work on it (i.e. no QI only software CI and only at 1024x768, not ar 1440x900)

Kalyway was supposed to be good for this laptop so i thought I'd give it a try.

The point it reaches in the loading is here,

Can anybody help me, please, thank you :thumbsup_anim:

hey everybody,

i have a trouble with my kalyway 10.5.2 v8 installation, i try to install this os but i have

an error: ioapic vector...ect ...

my system is dell inspiron 1520

On a vostro 1500, got the same identical problem!

How to solve it: no easy way, the only working solution i've found is to exchange the AppleACPIPlatform and AppleAPIC kexts on the install dvd with ones from a working installation.

I've used iAtkos 1.0r2 kexts on the install dvd, and got it to work - the copy being installed already has everything working.

So you have to patch the dvd, you can just open its iso file from a working MacOs install, or from linux, passing the -t hfsplus parameter to mount.

I'll see more in detail to it this evening, i'll try to post a PPF to patch Leo4all-v3 .

So far i got Kalyway 10.5.2 to work this way, but i made a mess trying all the possible combos, so i'll start afresh with Leo4all.

not sure if there are solutions for the nvidia. you need to check or somebody else will help. However, I would highly recommend to get the dedicated graphics card. Do not opt for the integrated X3100. The reason is that your Vostro will ship with a different motherboard and you will never be able to upgrade the graphics card later if you chose the integrated Intel solution. I've been there and now I am stuck with a gma950, although Inspirons E1505s were also shipped with nvidia or amd graphic cards. Again, irrespective of OSX compatibility, I urge you to get the dedicated graphic card.

good luck

Thanks for the advice, I will stick with the GeForce

Hi All, I have a Dell E1705 laptop with a Geforce Go 7900 GS graphics card that I can't get to work with NVinject.

I installed using iAtkos v1.0i R2 and then updated to 10.5.2 using the Kalyway update. I've tried the NVinject v0.2.1, 0.2.0b and NVinjectGo 0.2.0.256Mb.7900GS kexts. I've tried installing all three of them using the manual way detailed in the first page of this thread, and using the installer from the NVinject website.

Each time my computer will boot, which I can tell because I have verbose mode enabled, but it won't display the desktop. The screen just goes black. Is there anyway I can fix this? Thanks!

I have Dell 355 Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. I installed OS X using Kalyway 10.5.2 iso on my E1505 Core Duo (T2400) laptop, and it recognized the bluetooth module.

But I have a problem. I tried to pair my Logitech V270 mouse, but It won't pair although it discovered the mouse.

I tried with my Microsoft Explorer Mouse and keyboard for Bluetooth, they won't pair either.

However, I can pair my LG VX8700 cellphone without any problem.

I think there's something wrong with Bluetooth HID thing. Does anyone have a idea about my problem?? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I found a solution for my problem . http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=95789. The USB fix did the job.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just installed Kalyway 10.5.2 with the speedstep kernal however I get the following in Terminal, does that mean SpeedStep isn't active? Thanks heaps guys :)

Please help

U disabled one of the cores in BIOS?

Ok so I tried the solution for 1280x800 rez on the first page for the x1400 and guess what, still at 1024x768. Is there any solution for this at all out there? I already have quarts enabled and nothing works. Is there anything at all?

also I edited the info.plist.

Hey guys sorry to be annoying but I couldn't really pin down where to get help with my problem.

I just installed Kalyway 10.5.2 and it seemed to work but I got the /com.apple.boot.plist problem and I don't know enough about what is happening to figure out what I am supposed to do to fix it. if someone could link something or give me a little advice as to wear I could find informations to fix the problem it would be greatly appreciated.

All good mate, happy to help but what is ur problem exactly?

 Hey

i'm using 10.5.1 (i think iAtkos release) for a fairly long time.. and before 10.4.9 on my Inspiron 9400. Reinstalling 10.5.1 was no problem at all, but now i tried installing 10.5.2 (Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) EFI V8) which does not work.

I always get the " ../com.apple.boot.plist not found " error promptly when trying to boot the dvd. I thought i read about this issue before in this forum but couldn't find anything regarding the Inspiron nb.

I've got 2 partitions, both Mac OS Extended Journaled, no Windows partition ..and installation of 10.5.1 worked fine with this configuration.

Any ideas? Thanks,..

Hey I just got the Famed for working dell 1500 draft n card and guess what? IT DOESNT WORK!!!! I reinstalled leopard and installed a bunch of wireless fixes and stuff and nothing works!!!! did i waste my money or is there a fix?

Just a quick note to let you all know that, almost a year later, I have done a bit more work on AppleHDA for 9400/6400. Things stalled because of work/life/etc. and the fact that I had hard drive issues and no time to reinstall everything, recover data, etc. Anyway, I've spent the better part of the past day working on this thing, so hopefully that means some progress is imminent!

The format of AppleHDA.kext has changed quite a bit with the new release of 10.5.3, and fortunately it seems it now provides a very simple debugging output to the console, so that makes it slightly easier to tell what effect various changes have on AppleHDA and should hopefully speed up the process just a tad bit.

Here's what I've managed to do so far:

- Latest 10.5.3 kext is now working with STAC 9200

- Corrected pin nodes now show information in System Profiler when used with HDAEnabler (see screenshot)

- Better detection of input/output types by default (see control panel screenshot)

- Headphones work again, and are detected when plugged in - but no speaker muting as of yet, still... not entirely certain that 10.5.3 has added support for shared mixer widgets, but I'm still hopeful, given the changes I've seen in AppleHDA so far!

- Microphone works, though as before you need to use PlayThru for SigmaTel because of the codec's hardware limitations (there's no physical/wired pass-through connection between the input and output paths)

What's not included yet:

- Subwoofer is detected but will not work; I've played around with this quite a bit and the new AppleHDAPlatformDriver seems to parse node arrays differently and will not allow two devices to use the same DAC simultaneously - it throws up an error about being unable to select between the widgets. Hopefully this can be worked around. UPDATE: Subwoofer fixed, though no independent volume control yet.

- DSP library is included but not set up yet - so no microphone noise reduction, equaliser, or high/low-pass filters. I doubt anyone misses it anyway, but I'll add it back in shortly.

- Speaker muting on headphone detection; there's a good chance this may never happen, since it requires customised drivers that handle shared mixer nodes properly, but maybe we'll get lucky...

So... not a great deal to report yet, anyway. Getting the 10.5.3 kext to work with the STAC 9200 was the biggest chore, so now that it's over, hopefully the rest will move fairly quickly. I'll try to add the DSP library back in soon and upload a version for the 6400 users, who don't require subwoofer support, so fingers crossed I don't get distracted and disappear for another few months...  :)

Hope you're all doing well.

-T.
