Extract AppleHDAPatcherv1.20.zip

put both on your desktop and drag Stac9200.txt above the extracted patcher.

Wait a second and there you have sound on your inspiron 9400.

Worked perfect on my inspiron 9400!

only 4:3 , not 16:9 .

My Dell inspiron 9400 laptop has AtiX1400 and bios A09 with native widescreen of 1440x900 pixels. I used Kalyway 10.5.1 installation (cpus=1 :D ); I tried all video solutions of this OSx86 forum but nothing works: MacOs has 1152x864 (4:3) and no widescreen!

Dang, that's what I was afraid of. Oh well, I guess I'll forego this project for now, unless somehow there's a difference between your 9400 and my E1505/6400.

Thanks! :D

Hi,

Thanks for this very nice guide, i treasure it ^^

But i encountered some problem i can't solve.

I have an Inspiron 9400

core 2 duo T7200

nvidia geforce 7900 GS

...

A09 Bios

I used the last leo4all

But i can't get the sleep to work, i installed leo4all with the vanilla kernel, i got everything working

but when i go to sleep and wake it up, then everything seems to work again except that 30s later everything freeze except the mouse... I'm trying to get it working in order to use my 2 core, i curently use the cpus=1 to boot.

My ethernet crash if i launch vmware fusion after a while : no more internet...

My fans are not working !!!! Temperature monitor report me a 70 degre celsius when i do too much stuff !!!

Please help me :)

Thanks !

While I think this is a good guide, I still don't think its complete unless it details the whole dual boot process. I have an e1505 and I installed as per the guide but was left to figure out the dual boot issue since there is no details at that point. Consequently after installing OS X and rebooting I got an BO error.

If anyone has a detailed install guide and knows the link feel free to share.

I think sleep only works with sleep_kernel and not the vanilla kernel. see this topic by netkas:http://netkas.org/?p=57. note the links to the IRC channel for getting the different types of kernels. good luck.

I think this is not the task of this guide. There are so many different scenarios you can come up with, it definitely requires a separate thread. It is also a generic problem not specific to Dell Inspirons. for more information read here:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=83466&hl=

here is only one good guide of many that are around.

Sort of solution to the problem of headphones on the e1705... one I installed the STAC9200 with APPLE HDA I plugged in my Griffin iMic to the USC port and I was able to listen to headphones and the speakers were muted.

Not the best solution but better than nothin' for now

Good luck!

yep, this has been reported before. I bought some cheap Altec headset that came with usb "sound card" when my external creative wouldn't want to work on my PC and then found out from this forum that it resolves the muting problem on my Dell notebook. Works without installing any drivers. I plug my better headphones into it and get excellent sound.

Hi everybody

I had installed Leopard before on my 1520 but the system crashed when update 10.5.2 official kexts.

Actually I try to install iatkos v1 on a usb HD. The installation is no problem but i can´t boot Leo.

When the laptop start i press f12 and choose usb then black screen, nothing hapends...

What is wrong?

Thanks

If you are interrested by 2-fingers scrolling trackpad enabler, go to this topic:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=88811

On my 9400, only 1 finger scrolling is working (but maybe it's uselfull with a small trackpad).

To get it work properly, you need to disable 2 finger scrolling in apple menu.

I attach here my optimized com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Trackpad.plist for 9400 synaptic trackpad (6.2), just repace the original with it.

Enjoy :D

In-case you failed to notice, I have already made a dual-boot guide which is linked within the guide.

Also, if it is a dual-boot problem relating to the specific OS X build you are installing, then please refer to the forum thread of that build.

One more thing to note: using the search feature on this forum wouldn't hurt! the b0 error isn't a new one, it has been discussed time and time again.

Thanks,

Hi,

another cosmetic trick for ours Dell: It's possible to use front media keys to control any application. (thanks to MacGirl for the trick)

First step, you need to install this kext: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=24495

Then, download and install butler.

Go to configuration panel and create new keys sequences for any application.

I attach here a basic configuration for Itunes, Vlc and Quicktime.

Itunes play/previous/next works every where, except when you are using VLC or QuickTime.

Stop button allow fullscreen for Itunes and Quicktime.

I change the défaut Stop shortcut of Vlc by ;

cause i'm using a froggy (=french) keyboard.

Next/previous are foward/rewind under VLC and Quicktime.

Windows+space activate a internet search widget.

That's all.

Hey, I made a script that makes sleep on some laptops that don't care about Lid events because of IORegistry AppleClamshellCausesSleep value is set to "no".

Check with "ioreg -n IOPMrootDomain | grep AppleClamshellCausesSleep"

save it as sleep.sh:

#!/bin/sh
while true; do
 state=`ioreg -n IOPMrootDomain | grep AppleClamshellState | sed 's/^.*=//'`
 if [ $state = "Yes" ]
 then
#echo "Lid Close"
#/usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to sleep'
/usr/bin/pmset sleepnow
 fi
 sleep 10
done

Put it where you want, give execute permissions (chmod 755 /path_to/sleep.sh) then execute with "/path_to/sleep.sh&" exit an test if closing the lid makes it sleep (it takes at most 10 senconds to detect, plus what it takes to make it sleep).

If anyone have a better script/idea tell us.

Hi guys

I have a dell inspiron 6000 and have just installed xxx10.4.11 image, the install went fine but when it reboots I get the message: failed to load extension com.apple.driver.appleacpiplatform. I have searched on here and came across that its something to do with power management but all the resolutions seem to apply to machine that boot, I get the error on start-up and cannot get any further, any ideas or where I should start to look???

Well Superhai made a kext to change the value of AppleClamshellCausesSleep, want to try?, give us feedback.

First release 0.9 here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=694467

0.9.1 is working well for me.

0.9 gived freezes or KP after wake up.

Don't mean to sound like a newbie, but I never done any kind of thing like this before. I have an Inspiron 6400 and am wondering if there are any installations that have all the required modifications already configured, or is this something you have to do piece by piece? In other words, is there any automatic installation that doesn't require all these modifications for certain components to work?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi guys,

If I try to use the network driver AppleBCM440* kext to 10.4+ into 10.5+ this is work? If not, where I can find this network driver for leopard 10.5.2 to download?

It's working, yes.

The kext is at the end of the first post (Guide): Ionetworkingfamily.kext

But the complet kext from 10.5.2 stock update seem's do not work.

You can get your ethernet (broadcom 44Ox) works: Inside the kext (in plugin folder) there is this file: AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext.

Copy your own Ionetworkingfamily.kext (in extensions folder) on desktop, put AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext inside plugin folder, install it with kext helper, repair permissions and reboot.

Now it's works.

Hey, ppl.

I got iATKOS on my Dell E1505, and quickly realized that I'll have to spend lot's of time reading through the pages of this forum. Great thanks Devilhood, for makeing such a wounderfull guide.

I just wanted to clear some things fo myself up. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Intel pro wireless 3945 has no support so far. Apple HDA patcher gives sound for STAC 9200, but no auto switch between headphones and speakers, no mute, no line-in.

I enabled QE on my Radeon X1300 by editing ATIRadeonX1000.kext, putting my vendor id, but I got some glitches (white lines that appear for a split of a second on a screen, and mouse tearing. I fixed mouse tearing by using Cursor locator, but still. I couldn't get res change fo 1280X800 by editing appleboot.plist. Is there any sollution that is better for my video, to get res change and get rid of glitches? Like make naitit work in my iATKOS or smth? (Don't get mad on me if this sounds stupid)

Thanks a lot.

How Did u Fix Mouse Tearing?? Can u Explain?

It's working, yes.
