Best distro so far. Besides the default selections, I need to select AnV kernel, AppleVIAATA, NVinject, kxAudio.

I also need to add my SATA controller dev ID into AppleVIAATA.kext to get SATA working. It's 0x33491106

Is there any way of getting this working, as I have exhausted practically every other distro.

Hello all,

I have been bouncing around between 10.5.6 distros as of late. I have an issue with my video displaying correctly when using video apps such as iDVD or DVD Player. Right now when DVD player starts in full screen I get half a page of a crammed DVD menu and it is all out of sync. I do want to point out that I do get full resolution on the desktop and everything else works perfectly. I jsut do not know how to tweak the video very well. I use my hackintosh for video presentations (or at least I did with 10.5.4) and would like for the DVD player to work.

Specs...

Dell D820 Laptop, Core2 Duo, Intel ICH 9 chipset, 2GB of RAM, Nvidia Quadro 120m

Options selected:

Apple SMBIOS DDR2 667

New ICHx (ICH10)

Laptop Display kext

NVKush default

NVdarwin 256MB

NVidia Extended

Any assistance would be helpful thanks!

A.

What happens? Just restart after load mkext?

You would have much better chances if you grab a macbook restore disk and do the necessary modifications by yourself. Is not much what you need to add to the disk: Voodoo or AnV kernel and a few kexts.... I dont really have much time these days but I see if I can make a couple of files for you...

No with this distro, it shows the Darwin bootloader, loads up 2 Extension.mkext files, and then just sits there with a flashing cursor, and I haven't the first idea how to add stuff to the disk, but given instructions I'm sure I could work it out. It does look like most of my hardware is on your disk, just the chipset isn't. Are you planning on adding support in the future?

Forgot to say it only shows that its loading those 2 Extension.mkexts when the -v option is passed to the bootloader.

As I said, I dont have really time to work on the ISO now.... And is really difficult to do something without having the actual (your) hardware on my hands

CaptainJack, use Pacifist. Free program for this kind of thing.

Worked great, thanks!

I have a question, can running the Apple Software Update cause system instability such as kernel panics? My wireless NIC caused my system to lock up again and it seemed to happen shortly after I did an Apple Software Update. Once I replaced the IO80211family.kext with one from an older version (10.5.2), the lock ups went away. Do Apple Software updates make changes to kext files?

Gosh, I'm having a real bad time connecting by WiFi... DO NOT install AirPort Client Update 2009-001, at least w/ my card. It was supposed to be among the most compatible ones, but after that I had to do a restore install. Even copying extensions back to the previously updated install did not solve at first. I can not remember 100% sure, but I read something about this update breaking some connection channels in real Macs, too.

My other posts reference about this:

Post #6 Atheros WiFi 10.5.6 kernal help please

Post #535 What network cards work?, List your network card that runs native.

In the new fresh install I noticed something strange: when extracting .zips the Finder does not refresh and show extracted files unless I double click once more on the zip, resulting then folder and folder 2... that's strange.

I'll edit my post w/ installed items, I swear ;-)

w00t! After upgrading to the last bios (F6) WiFi is working! And AirPort Client Update 2009-001 can be installed too. It's only a matter of saving BIOS CMOS again w/ the same settings when wireless network is not recognized. This happens mostly after switching from Win__ .

I'd prefer to use Paragon NTFS.

here are to install/uninstall NTFS-3G

http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/ntfs-3g/macntfs-3g_userguide.pdf

2.1 Installing NTFS-3G

Installing NTFS-3G is not more complicated than installing any other program, as it uses the

standard Mac OS X package format to install itself.

Just double click the package NTFS-3G.pkg and follow instructions. You will have to provide

administrator credentials to install it, since it needs to place files in protected system folders.

After you have installed the package, you may (in some cases when doing an upgrade) need to

reboot your computer because some parts of Mac OS X tend to cache certain data from the file

system bundle. In other cases, you may just need to unmount your NTFS file systems and remount

them to activate the newly installed NTFS-3G version.

2.2 Uninstalling NTFS-3G

NTFS-3G can be easily uninstalled using the Uninstall NTFS-3G... button in the NTFS-3G

preference pane, which should be available in System Preferences once you have installed the

package. See section 4 for a description of the other features in the preference pane.

If this should fail for some reason, an uninstall script exists at the following location:

/System/Library/Filesystems/ntfs-3g.fs/Support/uninstall-ntfs-3g.sh

thanks for your job.I need your help to fix a serious problem

I install in my sony vaio three times but and the three times the

issue is that "glich" in the browser or if i try to move a folder or

window in the display

Anyone to help me?

Notice:

Any bug report/question must contain detailed hardware (CPU, Chipset, GPU, ATA/SATA controller, -those are the most important ones-. Include the device ID of the component), detail of the items selected at the install process, and offcourse detailed description of the issue itself. Reports/questions failing to comply with these guidelines will be most probably ignored.

UPDATE 7/03/2009

New ISO up. XxX_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final.v2

The main new feature is GFX EFI strings right from the installer. Besides that the new ISO is now read-only to avoid changes in the filesystem and therefore unmatched MD5. I've also added DPCIManager and XFolders to the Utilities installer's menu. With DPCIManager you can get a list of your hardware (with DEV ids); Is not much but is better than nothing. XFolders is there in case you need to replace any files on the hardisk.

I decided to make a new ISO because there were many MD5 checksums mismatches.... The new ISO integrates all fixes and PPFs and adds above mentioned features.

Few more details:

-Based on 10.5.6 retail disk build 9G66

-ISO Bootloader: Chameleon 1.0.11

-ISO boot kernel: Voodoo 1.0 - 9.5.0 supporting Intel and AMD CPUs. Booting optional TOH 9.2.0 kernel with -mach_kernel2 flag)

-Default install:Clean Vanilla install (Stock Apple kernel 9.6.0) build 9G66 + Chameleon 1.0.11, Appledecrypt.kext, NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext, PS2Nub.kext, PS2Controller.kext (Is possible to deselect all the defauts to get a full vanilla Install)

-No language packages included

-No printer drivers included

Installer Screenshot:

post-51637-1236423139_thumb.jpg

If you need any language pack download the XxX_Language_Pack_V2. It includes all the language packages from the 10.5.6 retail disc:

Just beautiful !!!

I'm new to OS X but this outstanding release always works like magic and installs on my system (even with my HDD on AHCI mode), no matter what I choose as long as AppleDecrypy and NullCPUPManagement are selected.

Actually on my current installment I just used those two plus X11 and the Essential System Software... and from there followed up wingrunr21's XPS M1530 installation guide to keep my system as clean and closely as possible to a real Mac... initially working with an USB mouse and keyboard (of course, since I didn't select the PS2Nub Enabler, nore the PS2Controler) and then manually added everything else as listed by that guide.

I think you are right BlackCH, although it is really nice that an installer may provide us with a full working and configure OS X on our systems, once we realize that this is done, everybody should perform a Vanilla install for theirselves. That is a great way to learn and understand a lot of useful knowledge about this OS.

Certanly, this release is an extraordinary way to be induced and become involve with OS X ! Thank you so very much BlackCH !!! :D

Also, I want to confirm that this release has been extraordinary stable (no painful pauses, blinkin, crashes or inexplicable behavior) as primary system on a heavy daily use since 09.03.2009 (actually, I didn't have any issue with your previous release either).

*

Well, right now I'm trying to find out if I should also install any of the provided Chipset Support kexts for my motherboard (since OS X installs and works perfectly fine without any of them... and I'm not able to percibe any performance improvement from one or the other):

- ICHx Chipset Support...ICHx IOATAFamily.kext by Dune (up to ICH9)

- AppleAHCIPort Extended ICH Support (ICHx AppleAHCIPort.kext wirt extended support for SATA AHCI mode on ICH8/9/10 chipsets. Automatically install OrangeIcon Fix = AHCI OrangeFix.

Unfortunately, I did google them but haven't been able to find much information about this (any advice is most welcome). :(

*

A final word for all those people not been able to find this release at the green daemon or the bay of pirates... just google for "XxX_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final.v2" (with quotation marks as instructed here) and you will find your tracker (I do not have an account on neither of those sites, but I'm able to access them this way just the same). ^_^

Almost forget... looks like the correct name for the language pack download release its "XxX_10.5.6_Language_Packs_v2". :)

Im glad you found this release usefull!

Now, ICH8 (I guess is your chipset) is fully supported by OSX natively, so you dont need any extra drivers besides vanilla (stock kexts) ones.

Wow this one works great. I have the bad luck of having a 8400GS graphic card with a Nforce motherboard(AMD 3800 processor). Using the option Nvinject DVI(made for the 8400/8600) my installation worked right away.I didn't have to alter anything after my install. I don't think my graphic card ever worked this well. The system doesn't seem to have any bugs at all.

Cheers :)
