Ola :)

Finally got the time to read the Documentation properly.. amazing how many people fail to do so

Ok.. i got a kp writing this.. can't really figure out why. System is working just fine!!

Kept the evidence for later use if needed.

Other wise, GREAT WORK!

All tests passed, cpu and pc names check, VMWare works fine (so simple solution!! the link. Was running the

kernel named "mach" because of it), removed AIPcpuMDisabler.kext......

Been using this kernel since StageXNU always with good results and always getting better.

Read something about updates.. i can confirm that with this configuration, updates work!

The only kext i need to boot my system now is AppleDecrypt.kext and that is an addition.

Did many updates testing in the past few mounths with this config.. only have to reinstall some kests

for hardware that i have to put in S/L/E, and are not additions.

Thanks for your work..

Really loved the package/documentation.

Congrats

Voodoo Kernel Release 1.0 Rev A dont't work with dual Xeon CPU!!!

I have a Asus Dual Board with 2 Xeon Cpus 3.1GHz SSE2 with 10.5.5 and

voodoo 9.4 Kernel. All work fine.

Now I test the Voodoo Kernel Release 1.0 Rev A. I have Kernel Panic.

I also test with "-v mach_kernel.voodoo fsb=155000000 busratio=20" no work!

I also tested the mach_kernel.voodoo_beta2 with fsb=155000000 busratio=20 -

this worked!

It works on another kernel, voodoo 9.4 Kernel. All work fine.

I add pictures with system and kernel panic!

Can anyone help me?

I've got a little extra patch for you guys, just like I promised.

It supports overriding the default Mac model with e.g a macmodel=MacPro3,1 boot argument.

It can really come in handy if SMBIOS/EFI just don't cut it to set the correct Mac model (in System Profiler...).

EDIT: I've added a new voodoobuild.sh which will allow you to easily build Mercury's xnu core with my new patch.

This is untill they decide to move it in the tree...

note: rename MacModelOverride.patch to MacModelOverride.diff and put it under the patches.

MacModelOverride.zip

Added: An easy installer which installs Voodoo XNU with my Mac model override patch, Voodoo dyld.

The usual Mac way: double click :)

Sorry about the multipart RAR, just use stuffit expander to extract the .pkg

Just gave the Voodoo XNU kernel a proper test.

My conclusion: fast, reliable, great.

It works needlessly with all my other stuff.

I really say: nice, Voodoo team, I salute you all, great work.

Also gui responds a lot quicker than before, screensavers work properly, iTunes effects (classic) work great, absolutely not bad for a damn Packard Bell EasyNote MZ-35 with such a even more damned ATI Radeon Xpress 200M...

I'm really amazed by the performance + possibilities of this XNU core.

I got this one issue;

Everytime I open itunes + firefox/adobe progs, anything itunes + another prog that consumes a lot of memory really causes a freeze.

On reboot I get a msg cpu X (2 or 3) failed to respond to interrupts, a kernel panic.

Rebooting with -x and then rebooting in normal mode resolves it, till it freezes again.

RC2 didn't cause this behaviour and I haven't changed anything in my setup but the kernel.

Hardware: P35 chipset + G0 q6600

Note: RC2 didn't cause this behaviour

Screensaver bug is starting to appear as well here, reverting to the rc2 kernel.

Hi folks.

I hope someone can help.

I installed the kernal to a second hard drive installation that i use for testing but was booted into my main install at the time. From reading an earlier post i know this was a big mistake.

I now cannot boot into my main installation! I just get message saying missing voodoo kernal, the same as B666 in an earlier post.

He solved his problem by installing the kernal onto the problem partition.

My question is, do i need to do the same or is there another way to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Hey voodoo team thanks...

I installed the latest kernel but with issues and questions.

1. I had installed OpenHaltRestart.kext from Psystar earlier. After Installing Voodoo, I remove the kext though, and restarted. Now it restarts fine but...

a. Sleep doesn't work

b. Freezes on Shutdown. - Sometimes also happened with OpenHaltRestart, however, never before that.

I wonder if OpenHaltRestrat was a problem.

2. Few doubts:

a. Do I still need to install PowerManagementBundle for Sleep to work? (I think!)

b. How about SpeedStep/Throttling? Still need a package to be installed?(I think!)

Thanks again guyz!

Had to revert back to Voodoo 9.5 Beta2c.

Voodoo Final was incredibly slow on my machine. To quote a few, Parallels Desktop was incredibly slow, Safari browsing was really slow, WoW was unplayable (like 3-5 fps).

Beta 2c is the faster voodoo kernel I ran so far.

Thanks Voodoo Team, this works great!

Installed on iDeneb 10.5.5.

Voodoo 1.0A using installer package.

AMD 64 3700+

Abit AV8 mobo

2 GB RAM

NVidia 7600GS (AGP) (NVinject. Running in PCI mode, no AGPGart installed, CI/QE working.)

Intel Pro 100 PCI Ethernet card

ATA HDs and DVD-RW

It was running very well before on the XNU kernel and it runs great with the Voodoo kernel. Makes it so easy when I can use the Software Update and not think about patching.

Thanks again for all the hard work, the results are brilliant! :(

i just installed the new Voodoo kernel, and for the most part it works great for me, but I do have a few issues:

-Screen Savers no longer work when set to any certain time, sleeping the monitor does work though.

-Cannot use sleep mode as my cpu fan no longer works and the battery meter is dead

Other than those two issues its great. I have Vanilla kernels already in use for my system, I'm running this setup:

Compaq C751 laptop

iDeneb 10.5.5 OS X release

now I would like to know if anyone has a specific kernel suggestion that might fix those two issues I am having? if not, for now I'm back on Stage XNU kernel 9.4.0.

Thanks for the help and the good work Voodoo,

ZB

When I try to sleep, it goes to sleep, however when I wake, the Hack does wake but my vid card starts screeching as if there was no power cable installed. Vid card is 9800GTX+ 1GB.

Congratulations on a great Voodoo final release on a P4 and PD that works well with Chameleon 1.0.12 and 10.5.2 (from Leo4All with correct 10.5.5 System kext). But could someone point me to a guide for dummies to the 10.5.5 upgrade? I have tried six or seven different ways (iAtkos, JaS, and others) posted on the board to get to 10.5.5 but always end up either with a continuous rebooting system or the gray screen with no root device found icon. I have already patched dsdt to be ready for 10.5.6 too.

TESTED on GA-EP-35 , C2D E4400, 10.5.5

WORKED, macmodel changed to Mac.... even with newest ACPI.kext (1.2.1).

GA Boards ofter stay at GA Model even if using special SMSBIOS injections.

THANKS

(Sure , i only give feedback to devs, i will stay for that time with my orig. Vanilla kernel until maybe next vodoo).

this installed no prob, and would not restart on first try.

after reboot my processor that was showing 1.8Ghz unknown, now says 1.8Ghz intel core solo, under profiler it lists correctly as AMD Sempron 3200+. that is all i have tested for now. gonna try some updates, and see how it works.

did boot better, have been having a boot issue with geting the desktop, but we shall see if it contiues to work right.

switched from stageXNU 9.4

tried some updates and lost it. got it reinstalled with the new kernel first. and all seems to be well. by boot issue seems to be gone too. i have gotten one kernel panic, but we will see if it happens again.

also the only real thing i have seen a problem with is that my comp will not boot with a flashdrive in the usb port.

Alright kids 10.5.6 update is out :D But the kernel source code is not! Once Apple puts the xnu source code, Voodoo 9.6.0 will be out.

I'm a bit confused.. 10.5.6 update didn't installed a new kernel.. was it supposed to?

Like, this update was supposed to need DSDT patch and i don't need it at all!!

Suppositions or bad infos??.. Can you shade some light on the subject.. no hurry :) i'll check the thread...

The screen saver "bug" that was mentioned was fixed by the update!

It's one of those cases were your GOOD work uncovered a real bug in the system :)

screen saver always had strange behavior till now (for me).

Once again, thanks so much!
