1. Snow Leopard 10.6.5 on HP Envy 17

any further improvements on this system? I'm considering trying on a new sandy bridge version of the Envy 17 and hazard's 10.6.6i install
2. Hi everyone, Been awhile since I've tried getting back into Hackintosh making. I got a new HP Envy 17 system and I know this would ideally make a awesome Hackintosh system. I know some have tried on here, and I assume failed. Has anyone at all been successful, or am I out of luck using OSX on another good system?I really don't feel like spending days trying to get a pig to fly Seems like only weak simple notebooks can run osx, really disappointing to me. Let me know and I'll get to work and share what i can. Thanks, ZB
3. hi everyone I haven't been on in awhile, but I'm now working on getting a nice HP Envy 17 and a hp dv6 system up and running with Snow Leopard. Right now my DV6 Core i7 notebook does have a GUID partition HD with Snow Leopard installed. I used Tonymac86's ##### Supported CD to run this command to get booted and installed with my retail DVD of Snow Leopard: busratio=16 cpus=1 My problem is after installing the OS, I need help getting drivers and the Hard drive to boot on it's own. I used #####, and ran the ##### option and that basically loaded chameleon and I was unable to boot the hard drive at all. Does anyone have suggestions or help? Would appreciate it, and I will definitely make notes and work with anyone whose interested with making a HP notebook work.
4. hi everyone, I have been able to finally install SL on my system, I used a usb key to do it, but I'm having a issue with booting without my usb key plugged in. I cannot run OSX SL without it. Anyone have any ideas? I am using Chamelon 2.0 RC3, even installed it on the hard drive I installed it on even with luck.
5. Hi Everyone, Yes, it seems like some how, the graphics are fully accelerated and all. I don't see anything saying quartz extreme is on, but maybe that's changed from Leopard to Snow Leopard? I'm currently out of the country (I'm in the US and now in Taiwan) for the week, hopefully by next Sunday, I'll be back and able to get that kext list for you guys.
6. I definitely have this same issue, if you or anyone else can help out? Thanks!
7. I was actually able to magically get it installed...not sure how, I just loaded a ton of Kexts I could find to be honest with you...mostly ahci and usb family kexts. The only issue so far I have now is getting all the drivers (idt audio, wireless, ect) working....and most importantly: how can I get OSX Snow Leopard to run without needing the USB key to load it? If anyone can help me with this, I will definitely write up some sort of guide on how I got my system installed. Thanks, ZB
8. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Anyone having issues booting off the internal hard drive after installing Snow Leopard off the USB key? I have a HP Pavilion DV3000 series notebook, and I'm getting that issue. Even after doing the Macloader install, and the Chamelon 2.0 RC3 installation to my hard drive. I get this waiting for auto-negotiation message, as if the Ethernet adapter is waiting for getting a connection. Anyone experience this or have a solution? I would like to just boot to the hard drive without the usb key so I can then work on better Kexts.
9. Hi everyone, I finally got my SL installed off my USB key, I used a little SL_Installer app I found somewhere on here. (wasn't Macinized's version). I just want to now boot off my hard drive and not requiring the USB Key. I tried Macinized's MacLoader app, the Chamelon 2.0 RC3 installer package. All with no luck to my main hard drive. I cannot boot, I can see the hard drive with Chamelon, but it just gets stuck at loading....it seems like the Ethernet is holding it up, but i'm unsure if that's so true...says it waiting for "auto-negotiation" anyone have any ideas?
10. [TOTALLY VANILLA] Retail Snow Leopard

Hi everyone, Right now I have followed the instructions as best as I could on setting up a USBkey install of Snow Leopard, and for some reason I get this error when I boot off the key: "appleusbehci" error -cannot initialize uim. Waiting for root device" Not sure why this happens, hopefully someone has seen this before? I have my dsdt.aml, smbios.plist, apple.boot.plist. And the Apple ps2 kexts with voodoohda kexts installed in the Extra folder. no idea what I'm missing. I'm adding as many kexts as I can in hopes to fix this issue. I'm completely lost at the moment, anyone have advice? Ok, was able to finally get passed the error by adding the iousbmassstorage.kext and also added the appleusbhci.kext, and the iousbfamily.kext Now I just get a screen blank with my mouse cursor showing up and then the busy sign (rainbow pinwheel) appears. I can move my mouse...if that's a good thing....
11. Well right now I want to install Snow Leopard fresh on this unit, I have my key setup fine, it seems like for some reason I get this odd USB error and the boot loader is waiting for the root device to boot. I'm using the Macinized method mentioned above. On the boot up off the usb key, I get a "appleusbehci" error -cannot initialize uim. Waiting for root device" Not sure why this happens, hopefully someone has seen this before? I have my dsdt.aml, smbios.plist, apple.boot.plist. And the Apple ps2 kexts with voodoohda kexts installed in the Extra folder. no idea what I'm missing
12. Hi everyone, I'm working on getting a HP Pavilion DV3000 model laptop working with snow leopard and I am using the Macinized SL_04 method posted. After setting up my bootable 8gb USB key with his setup files, my dsdt.aml file, and dropping some known 64bit kexts in the extras folder and ran his installer app. I get a odd error when I boot up: appleusbeaci error appears with "unable to initialize uim" then it states it's waiting for boot device. That's it. Anyone know what this error is about and how to fix it? I'll post a pic soon. Thanks to you all ZB
13. I'm now getting a "appleusbeaci" error message on boot up. Unable to initalize uim. Anyone know what this issue is exactly?
14. I have a DV3000 and a DV4 pavilion system and when I use this method you meantioned, it asks me on the installer portion, where is the Snow Leopard DVD Install restored at? I put in the following: /Volumes/SnowLeoInstaller (which is what I think my USB key is set to, I drag and drop my mounted usb key from the desktop into the terminal window) when I enter that, it says it cannot find it and asks again. Any suggestions?
15. Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a Snow Leopard install to work on a HP laptop, I have yet to do it successfully. Been slaving away on my dv3000 Core2Duo notebook. If anyone has insight on how I can get Chameleon 2 RC3 to boot on this laptop, it would be nice and useful. Thanks everyone, ZB
