aliasa_anderson
i think there are issues with nvidia cards. most of the people having 7 series graphics cards are facing "still waiting for root device" error. am i correct? I have nvidia GeForce Go 7400 and no problems at all. For nvidia graphics cards, you can try checking following things: the device and vendor ids are set correctly,IOProbescore is zero in nVinject.kext(if you use one) do you get a display at all ? as for the boot problem it is because of your motherboard.did you try booting with SATA mode disabled ? Colin MacKenzie
(( Edit: Never mind, I figured this out...I am editing this with my MacOS installation! Wahoo! )) I hope someone can lend me a hand, I am not sure where to go next. I get through the installer fine, but when it goes to boot Darwin it loads all the kexts but then reboots. I am using GPT EFI V9 bootloader, tried both the EFI and Kabyl Enablers. My system details are at the bottom of this post. Here it goes: 1. POST, GPT Bootup is OK 2. F8 for boot prompt, enter "-v -f cpus=1 maxmem=2048" 3. I see all the kexts loading, the last kext is the TMSafetyNet.kext (for time machine) 4. Then it says Loading "DSDT.aml" (my patched DSDT overlay) 5. Then it says "Starting Darwin x86" 6. Then bammm! reboot From my reading of osx startup sequencing this appears to be when the INIT routine is executed. I've tried all the switch combinations: -x -v -f cpus=1 maxmem=2048 I've been through the installer multiple times using various options. Patching DSDT Attempts: The cpus=1 is required to boot. Without it, computer instantly reboots before even loading the kexts. Apparently, CPU ALIASs present in the DSDT cause Darwin to fail, thus, cpus=1 bypasses this problem by ignoring the other cores. In the installer log I see that it, decompiles and patches my DSDT although it skips two CPU ALIASs. However, I used iasl/acpidump utilities in Ubuntu to take the DSDT file patched by the installer and repatch, i.e, decompile it again, remove the CPU ALIASs and recompile, then place back in the root filesystem. I also tried using the DSDT from my bios directly. In both cases, I still have to use cpus=1. I would be ok with cpus=1 for now, but I also wonder if my DSDT is still the source of my failure to boot the Darwin kernel as well. Graphics Card: The installer works fine, I expect this means that the most basic graphics should work with MacOSX too. I have a GeForce 9600GT. Could lack of a graphics driver cause Darwin to reset after loading kexts? Thanks in advance for your help! Colin MacKenzie
I finally have my MSI p7N Diamond Installation working!!!! Oh man I am relieved!!! I seem to have everything working...My GeForce 9600GT worked after adding my PCI device ID to info.plist in NVDANV50Ext.kext (included with the "Graphics Update" package.) and I had to add the EFI String to the boot config file. My Creative Labs 5.1 SB Live! is working using kxAudioDriver. My NVidia MCP55 Ethernet (from 590i chipset) is working with the nForceLAN.kext. Not sure what is left not working right now and its time for bed...My System Profiler keeps crashing on startup...I will have to fix that later. wolsplatinum
ok I really like this release but I keep having problems booting. I really want to do a multi boot with my 60gb hdd with the first partition vista64(35 gb[35840mb]), the second partition iATKOS 5i(15.9 GB[16269 mb]), and the thrid partition xp32(5 GB[5120mb]). I have been trying to use easybcd as the bootloader but I can never get it to work, I can get it to properly dual boot xp and vista but If I install mac I can not boot into xp or vista If anyone knows a thread or tutorial or can tell me how to properly dual boot all three operating systems I would have much appreciation. I do not care what bootloader I use as long as it works. So since I have been unable to get that to work properly I thought I would try using my PNy 8 GB usb flash drive since my brios supports booting to usb devices. That was a complete failure because although it allowed me to format my drive to mac journaled as soon as the installer finished the disc consistency chek or if i skip it since i dont see the point of it it says it cannot continue because of an unknown failure. so I have a 250 gb simple tech usb hdd and I made a 15.9 gb partition at the left of the drive and left my ntfs partition with all my data(music, schoolwork etc. on the right side) The installer works fine then when the computer restarts and it trys to boot from my usb hdd it restarts after about 2 seconds and if i boot to the DVD and press f8 it sees my partition with iatkos installed and when i press enter it just boots to the DVD and goes to the installer. I know it installed on my drive right though because if I dissamble my usb hdd(big deal i voided my 3 year warrenty) and plug it in my computer through my sata slot it boots. But I would highly prefer not to have to do this every single time I want to boot into mac, I mean if it was a desktop i would be fine but its my alienware m5550 and I do not want to get out my electric screw driver everytime I want to xwitch from windows to mac and vise-versa. So my problem is I can't boot to my iatkos installtion after I install it on a usb hdd. I apologize for not having very good grammar but when I am very frustrated like this I tend not to use very good grammar or punctuation. The specifications of my computer is in my signature. I have been installing with the same settings every time. pc efi v9 bootloader apple decrypt smbios-efi air vannila kernal (default nothing selected) x86 acpi disabler .kext ohr nvinject nvidiia laptop intel ahci sata speedstep a laptop battery ntfs-3g ___________________________________ Any help much appreciated!!!!!
