Hey I'm having some problems and I'm hoping someone has some insight! From what I see, the installation went ok. After the install, my laptop restarted, but then I got to the white apple screen and in the middle of the screen was a circle with an X in it so I'm thinking -- FAIL. Although, this is just my first attempt. Tomorrow I should be doing more installs with various settings to see which works - hopefully. I have a Sony Vaio Z520N/B and I was wondering if anyone had the same issues/laptop/similar specs and could post your resolution/options that you installed. So FYI, if you have my specs, these options below didn't work.

Options:

iAtkos Main

EFI V9

Apple Decrypt

EFI Air

Voodoo Kernel

x86 ACPI

Remove PowerManagement

NVKush

Remove NVDAResman

Intel SATA

Speedstop B

Laptop Battery

Intel Pro/100

Iatkos is NOT the best!! Try KALAWAY first and then you guys will see that this Iatkos is j...

No idea why are you saying here that Iatkos is THE BEST, hmmm.

For me iATKOS *is* the best. I can boot it just fine except for sound (if anyone has the exact fix for a STAC 9271D, I'd appreciate it!) I can't boot KALYWAY at all. No contest.

i DLed the iAtkos 5i 10.5.5 (MD5 = iATKOS_5i.iso = 7219c67e9d770cab0d9e54dcd275cf4e)

i used disc utility to burn the iso to dvd and this went well and the dvd mounted it's icon on the desktop and can be opened, however open checking the md5 of the iso file i found irregularities. how to check the md5 of the dvd? i tried to drag the icon of the dvd to terminal with: md5. but i get this note:

md5: /Volumes/iATKOS 5i/Install Mac OS X.app: Is a directory.

this method has worked before,,,,or was that in Tiger? now using Leopard.

but the md5 of the DLed file = 5373591e0ee736b30262e6566bba545a which is not the same as the included MD5 checksum.

hey, I used iATKOS 5i and everything went fine until the end. I just get the apple logo and the loader circle until after a while, I circle with a line through it shows up. I've looked through all the comments but have not been able to find a resolution.

I've tried -v but the screen hangs after the Firewire cannot find secure…. yadda yadda and then it says "still waiting for root"

by the way i am on a sony viao VGN-nr180e

Try a different Kernel during install.

Here is what i used for my Intel DP35DP system with Core 2 Quad.

1. First partition and format your drive as GUID.

Select these settings in Customize!

1. Main System 10.5.5

2. PC EFI v9 Bootloader.

3. AppleDecrypt.

4. SMBIOS-EFI.

5. OHR.

6. EFI-String for your graphicscard.

7. Intel AHCI SATA Driver for ICH7, 8, 9, 10.

8. Manual install of Sigmatel STAC9271D driver.

9. Minor cosmetic work to make it look like default Leopard.

This will give you a perfect upgradable vanilla system like a mac. :D

Great distro, everything but sound worked oob for me and the sound was a quick patch anyway

e7400

ga-ep45-ud3r

320gb sata

8800 gts 640mb

4gb ram

only have issues with it, 1 small. my ps/2 keyboard is only detected if i hot plug it after booting up. i used the x86 ACPI driver.

and 2, which is a bit more annoying is that i dont have QE support. i used the efi string for nvidia drivers and it detects the card just fine, and i can adjust resolution without a problem but i have no QE support which makes vlc and imovie useless.

if anyone has a solution to the QE problem, i'd really appreciate it.

<br />How do you patch the sound so easily? I can't find any useful information <img src="style_emoticons/default/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />.<br />
<br /><br /><br />

assuming you have the ep45-ud3r i used the file in this the first post of this thread and it fixed it perfectly

It´s best to use Intel CPU´s and Intel motherboards, as with those you are more likely to have success.

Andrea, not sure what sort of problems you have, but for me it works fine. The settings in my previous post works all the time. I have a perfect system right now with everything supported, and i updated to 10.5.6 like a real mac too.

I hope you find a solution to your problem. The only thing i did in BIOS is to set drives to AHCI.

I'm on my third re-install. I think that this time i've got the problem fixed.

My rig is a HP Compaq A970EG and it should work just fine.

Intel Pentium Dual-Core 1.86GHz

3GB DDR2

X3100

250GB HDD

I'll be back with some oppinions.

EDIT:

Unfortunately I was wrong. After the installation, when i try to boot up, the mac loading appears and then for about 3 seconds i get a blue screen that goes black and a song starts. Something like "you make me feel so good". What's that?

Hi

Im sorry but is there a set of clear instructions with step1 step2 step 3 for the rest of us? These instructions talk about options i never ever get to see at all - see my post here

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=150954

u just get the usual dos startup...the word boot: and thats it. what do I do? what do I type?

Did I miss an important meeting on using this tool?

many thanks

(Sorry for brevity - and possibly down sounding post - Im frustrated at having wasted time with a perfect ISO and not having instructions on what to then do with it) my related post has all the details

If you choose x86 ACPI at install ,EFI string for you video card will not work ,you will have to use any injector like NVdarwin or NVinject etc.

Only way to get the EFI string to work is choosing another ACPI or use an USB keyboard so you can stay with the stock ACPI (do not choose any ACPI in the installer and you will have stock ACPI but your PS2 keyboard probably will not work)

I just realised that logic pro 8 crashes after loading. Has anyone been able to run logic pro 8 successfully after installing iAKTOS 10.5.5?

Did you manage to fix this? How about Logic Express? I'm currently running Kalyway on my M1530 but I would like to move to iATKOS. Express worked fine on Kaly. Logic is kind of critical to me so it would be good to know before I do anything.

For people with a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R or EP35C-DS3R:

Installation of Iatkos 5i works like a charm. Here are the steps for a fully upgradeable system:

1.Go to the BIOS and disable the Jmicron or Gigabyte Sata controller (and of course don't use the purple sata ports on the board)(IMPORTANT STEP!).

2. Set sata mode of the main sata controller to AHCI (may not be needed)

3. Choose the following options in the installation: see http://iatkos.wikidot.com/preparing-an-upgradable-system (make sure you select no kernel so that the stock kernel is installed) +OHR + Intel Sata controller +Realtec1000 Network driver (works with DHCP AND bonjour!) +GFX strings (if available for your card.

4. Install

5. Use apple autoupdate and allow it to update to 10.5.6. During restart boot with -f flag.

6. After the restart go to system preferences and select energy saver, options, tick the box for 'restart automatically after power failure' (fixes sleep, thanks Jan Bird!)

7. Install audio drivers

Done :-)

Thanks a million to all the great people who made this happen!!!

Jizzle, thanks a million for assisting me with the audio patching.

Really appreciate it.. All sorted now and the system is complete.

:blush::(

Cheers.

Hey Jizzle, could you also send me the same information? I have iATKos v5 installed and it works. The only hold up is the audio. Thanks in advance!

Strike that last reply, I just must have missed some earlier post. I'm good now. Sorry for the nub-ness!
