  1. installing older version on new macbook pro

finally.... took forever. I got 10.7 from the app store. I was then able to extract the installer files and make a bootable usb drive. Once that installed its been easy. 10.7 on one partition, boot into it. Use 10.7 to install 10.8 on another partition, then use 10.8 to install 10.9 and so on. I have not found a way to install 10.6.0 on this pc. Fusion sucked... it is to slow and very glitch. It is simply not a usable option. OSX on Windows 8.1 in Workstation 9 worked very well. I dont know way OSX in OSX sucks.

OSX Server? The 19.99 Version in the Ap Store? I have to be missing something. There is no way I simple need to buy a 19.99 ap to run virtual OS X installs.

I would happily use virtualization if someone made a stable way to do that. As you can see from the post above you have to hack it. Macs seems to suck at virtualization. I need to know that a webpage works and looks exactly the same in a virtual 10.6 as it does in a real 10.6. So far I am not aware of a way to to that. Please let me know if you have a solution for a stable virtualization. VMWorkstation is great at it, but its a windows platform. Seems Fusion may not work as well. I had 10.6 running very well in VMWare on Window.s 8.1 till VMware updated and blocked it. It really should not be this hard to test websites. I have no idea why Apple has not thought about web developers and offered a solid testing solution. It is there best interest to help developers. I installed Fusion 7, tried to install OS X 10.6 and I get the error Guest OS is not Mac Server.

VMWare isn't stable and is a bad representation of how the OS really acts. Macbook Pro Mid 2012... yes, I bought it last week but apparently apple wants to use up old parts first. I have talked to Apple several times, there tier two support has no idea, and honestly they know less about this then I do. I am getting a kernel panic. I fully agree that 10.6 doesn't have the correct chip set and GPU drivers. Neither do PC's and yet you guys and I have gotten OS X to install on a pc. Seems it should be easier on Mac. Apple says the computer was built in 2012 with 10.7.4 on it. They see no reason 10.6.6 will not install. I have 10.6.0 not 10.6.6. I have no idea where to get a 10.6.6. I really have no reason to think the tech is correct. He was wrong about everything he wanted me to try. They only started looking at chip sets after I pointed out the possibility. He also could not stat why 10.6.6 would work. 10.6.8 is when they added additional drivers. Here is the list of OS: http://screencast.com/t/Ra31Ipny
  5. I need to install 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 on a new macbook pro running 10.10 Cannot install via the dvd in 10.10 is says its an old version and cannot be installed. I tried booting to the dvd and it errors and says to restart the computer. I figure you all know more about OS X then apple does. Find it hard to believe it is easier to install 10.6 on a PC then it is on a Mac. but it seems that way. thanks
  6. I had to reinstall windows 8.1 and now my vistual osx wont load. When I try to start it says "The guest operating system is not Mac OS X Server. This virtual machine will power off." I tried running unlock all v130 but nothing changed. Im running Workstation 10.0.2 build-1744117 OSX is 10.7 Any ideas how to get it to work again?
  7. help with my mac book

Yes, but you will have to use disk utility to reformat the harddrive
  8. Upgrade Drivers

So, I know driver isnt the correct word but not sure what is. I have one of the first aluminum macbooks with a 9400m and a 2.4. In windows 7 (bootcamp) I replaced the gpu driver apple gave me with one from nvidia and saw an incredible improvement. My score went from a 4.4 to a 5.5 and I can play Aion at full everything. I want to know if there is a way to do this in OS X. It stands to reason that with all the new macbooks having the same graphics card that there would be a newer and better driver. I am disapointed with the graphics in OS X. I am sad to say but Windows 7 seems to run better.
  9. Building 8 hackintoshs

Spend the money to take on apple. My company is willing to test apples claim to apple hardware. We will buy legal copies of OS X and if apple has a problem we are willing to fight it out in court. It isnt about the money. We can afford the macs. We dont want macs. My uestions is about the best mobo for i7's any suggestions
  10. I would like to someone to review my build and let me know your thoughts as to updatability. These are going to run Vista and OSX. They need to be stable as they will be used as development machines. I will buy a full copy of OSX and Vista fo each machine. I already own about 15 macs. I do not want mac pros, I want hackintoshs. I do have experience with hackintoshs. I have built several and currently have a fully updateable one, that is very stable. I will need full retail installs that will be updatable through apple. And I will deal with the legality issues.
