This guy claims he rewrote the xom file with all drivers in it (video driver included). http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3459659

At least he's being honest this time. It's untested.

 

The idea is a good one, slipstreaming the drivers, but it wont solve our video issue without the XOM being recompiled. As I hear Narf and Blanka are doing.

I followed the links, it says on one of the pages it links to, that there is little to no promise that this will fix the x1600 drivers

 

This is the same EFI boot file from the 0.1 patch, it also has the other EFI boot files now, they are named Boot_20inch.efi and Boot_min.efi

This was done to make it easier for someone to reinstall XP without needing to go through the hassle of finding drivers

If this doesn't live up to your expectations, I am sorry

No guarantee that any drivers will work (it hasn't really been tested yet), and the ATI drivers probably won't work

I do not have an Intel-Mac, so I cannot test this out myself.

I think that the iMac's and MBP use AC97 i reccommend trying them out.....

 

I got this info by google searching their DevID, and VenID

 

If you can Test this Sound Driver

So now what about this video that I've seen of someone running HL2 on their MBP - laggy, bad framerate, but working. Could have been fake, but check it out, I saw it last on

And just to give it a try, I decided to put HL2 on my MBP regardless. I'm on disc 5 right now, should be done in about 3 minutes. I'll update if I find anything out. Regardless of the fact that I have no working video drivers yet.

Install complete. Updates done. Time to try a boot. Will post results in a moment.

Looks Like the poster decided not to seed his own torrent.

 

 

That was me with the not seeding. :P

 

We determined that the file just didn't work.

 

So I stopped wasting bandwidth on it.

Just to clarify, narf and blanka are not working on fixing the video drivers. The are working on recompiling the source code to make installation easier. What someone else was referring to saying they were working on it was a mis interpretation on wiki. Narf and blanka have stated that they are not working on this problem and have no plans to at this time. Check the wiki forum again. It is clearly stated.

problem I am having is getting the XOM system drivers to relinquish control to

the R300 drivers.

 

So far here's what I have:

Installed drivers by manually selecting driver.

[update driver -> manually install -> display adapters -> have disk]

Display adapter appears as "ATI Mobility Radeon X1600" in Dev Mngr.

Device Status states "This device is working properly."

Details tab shows "[PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C5&SUBSYS_00001002&REV_00\4&31B 7BFB9&0&0008]

Resources gives what appear as approriate details ie. IRQ 16, I/O Range 3000-30FF,

etc.

I rebooted but the XOM driver is still in control

I disabled the XOM driver and the boot screen (grey windows logo) is displayed

and nothing else.

 

Any ideas how to test that the driver is installed correctly? Any ideas how to get

the XOM driver to relinquish control after boot up?

I dont have my mac yet so i cant help with anything practical but...

change the "System32\drivers\xomdd.sys" to "System32\drivers\CX_28716.inf.sys" and

somehow try to preload the x1600 driver(acer driver) before Xp install???

 

 

 

-------You have to remove the hardcoding. I don't see this being done any other way

without causing system corruption in xp.

 

 

_______ I think I may have cracked the video drivers, just trying to test. I have to go out now so anyone out there could test would help.

 

Anyways heres how I did it..

 

1) In Windows\System32\Drivers renamed XOMDD.sys to XOMDD_old.sys

2) In same directory renamed vga.sys to XOMDD.sys - this then uses the orignal

XP vga driver. (Be careful to make sure it gets names to XOMDD.SYS and not XOMDD.SYS.SYS

- better to use a command line to this)

3 ) Installed the Omega ATI drivers.

 

Device manager is now showing the ATI drivers and not XOM drivers.

just installing 3d mark for testing.

 

There ,may be better drivers to use so hopefully this opens the door to help us find a solution

 

MY CONCLUSION

Hey J, thanks for the tip... sadly, I did verify that when I was setting it up at my home knowing that my network doesn't automatically provide keys for anybody (including myself). :)

 

Good sanity check though, that could have caused all kinds of weirdness.

 

Still scratching my head... :P

 

Sorry I couldn't be of more help... :hysterical:

My MBP under XP has no trouble at all connecting wirelessly with D-link, Alcatel and Netgear wifi boxes...

 

Hope you find a solution soon! :)

It's the beta Vista Drivers... Some people have some sucess with these but in general use any drivers and change the sys and inf files

So do you find these to be generally BETTER than other wireless drivers for the MBP? Because currently I cannot connect to my more powerful Netgear box in my room via the built in wireless. Otherwise I have to leech for other areas of the house, and the speed is diplorable.

finally decided my self, im installing xp on my macbook pro right now. The best of two worlds (one (osx) far better than the other (xp) of course). im right now at the xp installer blue screen this is the ugliest thing iv seen in my life :hysterical:----.

 

 

• ok strange the windows logo flips when i press enter and nothing happens... then it restarts

 

 

• this happened a couple of times, now its going on pheeeu.

having trouble here with the wireless driver :). I have a Netgear wireless router wich was said to be working, but my mbp aint connecting to internet. It says its connected to the router, but internet doesnt work. Any clues here???

None. I'm having the exact same problem, thought it did manage to connect at one point, and was really powerful. Are you by chance using the Powerline Range Extender, the wall-plugged range bridge? I know that's where my problems have been.

 

nope, im only using the router.

 

By the way, the hizzing sound the processor makes on osx is not present on xp, so its not a hardware problem.

These drivers are suggestion for the video problem.. you'll have to read earlier posts and replies and you'll see that :hysterical:
