I have checked the information OS X provides and it shows the correct fsb, 1333 MHz but doesn't recognize the right RAM speed, it shows 800 MHz when it's 1066 MHz

I also have the Q9550 and 1066MHz speed ram and OSX Vanilla also says only 800MHz.

Its a OS limitation of our versions of OSX perhaps. As Even the mighty MacPros only use 800MHz speed ram.

 

However the new Macbooks have higher clocked ram so hopefully with OSX 10.6+ our ram will be recognized correctly. (they use a different build of OSX)

 

I have no idea if it affects system performance, its really a cosmetic thing. There are ways to make it say the correct speed.

As far as I know it is just a cosmetic thing. I have not fixed it but I did research it and it is quite easy (not that I remember exactly how to do it).

 

Oletros-

 

I had problems with my Q9300 and the system clock until I switched from PC EFI v8 to Chameleon. I have not had clock issues since. I am not sure of your hardware as your signature is blank.

Hey Guys.

 

Could someone pls tell me what the difference is between the three options we have for the NIC? I mean the one that comes with Leopard, the Open Source R1000 & the Psystar R1000? Is there any significant difference between the three?

 

Also do I need to add EFI string for the NIC or is the kext enough?

That audio driver you mention is available in LS8v14 pack as option "Install latest AppleHDA patched with Taruga HDA patcher 1.20 and HDAEnabler?".

Just a question. Is Bonjour the only thing that is affected? I can't seem to connect to my Win XP computer at home. It says 'connection failed'. I know by default it uses afp to access the windows shares so I tried the other two drivers (open source & psystar) but with no luck :wacko:

 

I had the same issue on my previous hackintsoh (AMD with 10.5.5) after one of the more recent updates (possibly the airport one). Up until then I had no problems accessing my windows shares. Any solutions? :wacko:

 

Also, do you see any major performance difference between the Leopard & Open Source drivers? And do I need to delete the leopard one if I want to use the open source one?

I had constant problems with the built-in network card, so I bought a PCI card with RTL 8139 chip, it works natively in OS X, see my signature.

 

The thing is on my previous hackintosh I was using the Apple USB to Ethernet adapter and was still having problems with the windows share. So it must be something with one of the Leopard updates?

 

 

You mention having had constant problems? Would you mind listing a few of them?

Bonjour worked only sometimes, DHCP assigned address was lost after wake from sleep, time machine backup worked sometimes, sometimes failed. All these problems are gone with RTL8139 PCI card.

 

Currently I have another problem, my machine randomly freezes, I cannot move mouse, keyboard does not respond, I have to reboot the computer. Sometimes it happens during work, sometimes when the computer is not being used. Very similar to this report: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry871008 The guy has the same graphic card and the same PCi network card.

Hmmm. I have DHCP assigned address and so far have never had a lost connection after sleep (with the Leopard kext).I don't use Time Machine or Bonjour so obviously have no idea about those. So far, touch wood, I haven't had any crashes or freezes. Just not being able to access the XP share is a Pain in the Arse.

How to make the onboard LAN fully working (DHCP, AFP/Bonjour, Time Machine):

 

1/ Disable Time Machine in System Preferences, erase your Time Machine partition (WARNING: all your Time Machine backups will be lost!).

2/ Go to BIOS settings and enable at least one LAN adapter (Integrated Peripherals section).

3/ Install Realtek R1000 driver, tested with the Psystar version 1.8.1:

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/RealtekR1000.kext
sudo cp -r RealtekR1000.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

4/ Delete previous network settings in Mac OS X and reboot:

sudo rm -r /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
sudo rm -r /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
sudo reboot

5/ Go to System Preferences - Network, check if your network adapter is correctly recognized.

6/ Create new EFI String for GFX and Ethernet with EFI Studio, click "write to com.apple.Boot.plist" and reboot.

7/ Enable Time Machine again, should work.

1. Disc: I have installed xp on it

2. Disc: I would like to install Mac on it

 

I am a music producer and I bought my PC not so long ago. Stupid me, because everything would be easier if I just bought Mac. The reason I want to have OS X installed on my PC is because Apple developed a great DAW app and it is called Logic pro 8 and i want it also installed on the system. It isn't available for Win.

I want to know if it would work on Hackintosh.

 

The other problem..

 

I have an external audio device: TC Electronic - Konnekt 24D . It is a firewire device (sound card). I was looking at their homepage and they have a driver for Mac osx, but I'm not quite sure it will work on hackintosh.

 

Can you please help me out and answer my worries. And if you can tell me for begining which hackintosh version I need (iAtkos...?)

crt46: all mac software and peripherals work on hackintosh in general. Problems may occur for programs that test the machine's serial number (usually for licensing purposes) and for those testing the machine type (macbook, imac, mac pro) - for programs that only make sense to be used on one type of machine (running a battery status software makes no sense on a iMac or Mac Pro).

One question before I try this ls8.

 

Do I not have to delete the original Leopard kext before using this one? If no, how does it know which one to use between the two?

You don't have to delete any ethernet vanilla kexts.

 

BTW random freezes disappeared after removing the PCI card and installing the psystar driver for onboard LAN adapter :police:

 

I followed your instructions. Still having a problem with Samba. So it almost definitely seems like some other problem.

 

A question about the Psystar drivers. Are the automatic settings for you detecting your network link as 'Half Duplex'?

Hi, i wonder is there a complete tutorial about how to install osx86 on a GA EP45 DQ6 board? I don't have a previous installattion. I may use Boot132 method but need the copatible iso for this mobo.

works with the standard boot132 disc. You may need to add a kext for your video card depending on what model you have.

Yes, also detected af half-duplex. But mounting samba drivers, bonjour (afp) and alll other features are fully working for me.

@Networking issues...

 

I am using the onboard LAN ports with the psystar R1000.kext and it works ok.

For the Time Machine issue I am using the IONetworkingFamily.kext that I posted a link to few posts back. and again it works ok.

 

By OK I mean - Bonjour, AFP, Samba (all working....) There is one networking performance issue though, which I think is related to the Open Source driver...

When streaming video from my hackintosh to my laptop:

1. using AFP - Streaming gets stuck when data rate goes above 350 KB/Sec

2. using SMB - Streaming gets a bit stuck when data rate goes above 650 KB/Sec.

These values were measured by the activity monitor on my hackintosh which is the source of the video files.

 

Still have to check the original Open Source driver... maybe it would be better with performance. (Does anybody know what are the differences of these two ??).

 

Would like to know if anyone has another issue I'm having:

1 to 10 - 20 boots the booting gets stuck (Grey Apple Screen - no Throbber).
