newmacky
i have to ask why this isnt a sticky its such a hot topic maybe its worth thinking about thats my I second Boxer ..... Mods ... Please make this a sticky !!! BTW i used Kaly's chameleon Boot Fix for hard drive ... now i can boot without Elastic's CD on my total Retail installation. However i noticed that I can no longer boot from my CD/DVD Drive on startup. My first boot drive is CD and sec is HDD.. I also changed the sec boot drive to Cd/DVD ... still no luck .. I couldn't even make the system recognize my Leopard Retail DVD ... Elastic's CD came to the rescue again !! and I was able to do a clean install after that .... -- Kaly ... any clue about this ??? ~~ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/19/#findComment-835136 Share on other sites

BiLLOU95
Hi, I tried many different boot132 images from the original generic.iso to the asus p5w dh iso on my system but the same thing happens with all of those, i keep getting the grey apple screen without the loading ball (or a black screen with -v option). My system is Asus P5GD2-X, Intel Pentium 4 3,00GHZ SSE3 CPU, 2x 512Mb generic PC4300 DDR, Leadtek 6600GT 128Mb, Sata Hitachi 80Gb HDD, Pioneer DVR112-D IDE DVDRom. Kalyway 10,5,2 is installing very well with the sleepkernel + nvinject + default installed kexts but i crashed the system with a random reboot during the 10,5,4 update :( so now i want to try this new method. If you have an idea of the problem and a solution it would be appreciated. Else I think i will buy a mac it will be simplier Thanks in advance ! Thomas. Signal64
kext versions after a 10.5.4 update are still a problem for me. AppleACPIPlatform and AppleAHCIPort are the two giving me the trouble. Looks like there are plugin kexts that have their own version and info plist as well and I'm running into trouble with those. Anyone know how to get these to load or know of updated versions for the ACPI reboot/shutdown problem and ich10 recognition in the AHCI? FabricioGS
Almost 100% perfect install on my P5K Deluxe. The only thing pending is audio (already tried elastics audio fix). I'm giving up on using kexts; every time I tried to use it I messed up my install. Does anyone could point me in a way to fix it with EFI Strings? Or could someone answer if this fix may work? boiancs
Is it possible to know which are the "crucial" kexts to put inside the iso used to boot ? I have GA-EP35-DS4 but and I installed the retail dvd by using Elastic's iso, but now: 1) Restart and shutdown do not work properly 2) LEO does not recognize the cpu type 3) LEO says that my computer is an IMAC and not a MACPRO 4) QE/CI is not active on my 8800gt 512MB (I know I have to use nvinject or nvkush) Can someone say me which kext must I change to have the correct chipset recognized (I have ICH9R) on my mother board ? Thanks dude your machine is closer to an imac than a mac pro, you dont have an zeons in there do you? If you had a proper retail DVD it should work, if you have burnt a copy from a website, please go buy a retail version. Dont try this method with a Kaly DVD - only a proper full retail (NOT RESTORE) DVD. chevy2410
Hi all, I just did a retail install on an external usb hd and then installed the chameleon hd to boot the hd. It booted up and I had sound and full video. I then went to software update to get the 10.5.4 update. After it install and I rebooted I get a message saying "Package 0 couldn't get HPET". Does anyone know what it means? I removed the AppleIntelCPUmanagement.kext and replaced about 6 or so other kexts files that I use in my everyday rig. Now I didnt't know if I had to replace them I just did. There are some for the SATA kexts and the latest USB kexts. I had this same message before the update as well, but I could get the system to boot. Any ideas?? Yes I could boot it before I did the update. Well I should say that it boots, but after the 10.5.4 update I'm getting the message saying "Package 0 couldn't get HPET". You need get the Chameleon DFE for hard drive. Get it HERE It's a pkg installer. It should over ride the regular chameleon boot loader you are currently using. That blinking underscore means no bootloader. Anyone have any ideas on my issue? I'm sure it's just some kexts file or files I need to get rid of. frantisheq
this is all great but my problem is: no EFI string so no TMachine no QE/CI, NVkush didn't help no sound because it won't load AppleHDA, i have to patch the original and the same with AppleSMBIOS from macdotnub and no FOREIGN BOOT as in netkas' efi, it just disappears so for me it's just a recovery solution. i still have to use PC_EFI8 in the READ ME FIRST !!!.rtf file, what exactly does it mean w/? what "Extra" folder is it talking about? please help. tnx. BifBologna
Hey guys, I hate to have to do it but, after many hours of reading over several days, I gotta ask a couple of noob questions. I have managed to get Leopard to install from the retail DVD using boot-132 (had to try 3 different iso's). I also managed to get the retail install to boot from the HD using Kalyways Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk. And, I've managed to get upgraded to 10.5.4 using software update. I do not currently have my video or my audio working, and that's where my questions are. Can I use EFI strings for the video, or do I need to use nvinject or something of that sort? I thought Chameleon was a form of EFI but I'm not sure. Kaly included EFI Studio with his Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk so I'm guessing I should be able to use it, but I'd like to be a little more sure before I try it. As for the audio. The G33M board I'm working with uses ALC662. Other than the Apple HDApatcher, is there a way to get the audio working? Maybe a kext that would get dropped into the Extras folder? If I do use the HDA patcher, will that ruin the ability to use software update? Thanks in advance, Bif Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/19/#findComment-843924 Share on other sites
BifBologna
I'm back in need of more serious help 'cause I'm majorly stumped. I re-installed from retail today using Elastics Galaxy_Boot iso (same one I used for successful install yesterday) because I was getting kernel panics on shutdown that were related to AppleHDA.kext or something associated with it and I had been working to try and get audio working with no success. Figured I'd horked something up. Turns out, with a fresh install and booting from the Galaxy_Boot iso I get the same error when I try to shutdown. The only file in the extras folder on that iso is an Extensions.mkext. I tried installing Chameleon using Kalyways Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk without the extensions.mkext this time ( I had it installed yesterday) but, when booting from the HD now, the system just hangs on the grey Apple boot screen, with an itty bitty "no" over the apple. I'm not sure what to do from here. I'm thinking my inability to get audio going is related to the AppleHDA error and that that error is related to the Extensions.mkext file. Problem is I don't know what I need in the extra folders for my mobo, a Gigabyte G33M-S2L. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bif edit - here's what it says when booting from the HD with -v... Package 0 didn't get an HPET Panic (CPU 0 called 0x2E178B9C)... " No HPETs available...CPUs configured incorrectly\n"@/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement -39/pm thread. c:100 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/19/#findComment-845219 Share on other sites
BifBologna
Two steps forward, one step back. Sometimes you just have to talk out loud. I looked up the HPET error and realized I needed to disable the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagment.kext. I didn't think I was up to creating my own iso, so I went looking for another one with the needed disabler. I found a modified version of the Kabyl-Bumpy that I had tried before, burned it and tried starting from it. I got hung up waiting for root device, which is what I think happened the last time I tried a Kabyl-Bumpy. I had remembered seeing somewhere that enabling AHCI might fix that so I enabled AHCI and we booted right up. So it's good news, so-so news. System shuts down okay with Kabyl-Bumpy, but it won't sleep. I've got orange removable drive icons instead of the normal HD looking ones. And, with AHCI enabled I can't boot from my XP install, the bios won't even detect the drive at boot (it mounts in Leopard though).
