cackintosh33
Let me start off by saying I am a newb to the osx86 scene and I am trying really hard to learn on my own but I just can't find all of the pieces to solve my problem. Please bare with me. My System Specs: GA-P35-DS4 rev. 2.1 mobo Intel Q6600 XFX 8600GT XXX 256mb CORSAIR 4GB WDC 500GB 7200rpm Samsung SH-S203B Antec Sonata III case I am currently trying to boot the retail DVD using the ga-p35-ds4 iso and I have run into some trouble. I can use the iso to get the retail Leopard DVD installed but I can't seem to get any further after install. Video, Ethernet and sound does not work. I see from ELASTICS posting that he also does not have audio working, which is not a problem because he is using usb, so I'm not to worried about audio. But when I install NVinject.kext my system freezes at the grey startup screen. No desktop even in safe mode. NVkush.kext does the same thing. And I have no idea how to get the ethernet working. Sorry, but I found the install of BOOT-132 a little vague. Does BOOT-132 install the kexts itself or do I need to do that myself after installing the retail DVD? I've tried both but and I still have all the same problems. I noticed, after unpacking ELASTICS extensions.mkext there was a ton of kexts. Is it necessary to have all of those kexts. There are far fewer kexts in non-related installs as well as the generic iso. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...5&start=800 Perhaps my BIOS settings is wrong. MACinized
dont type 80 at all... instead of typing 80, you need to type 9f tried that too. after swapping discs, i typed "-v" then on the "80 or 81" option, i typed "9f" but i just keep on getting the "80 or 81" option. then i tried typing "-v -f" (after disc swap) then typed "80" and everything seems to be loaded. then i got stuck after the "DMS(?) (can't remember) auditing present" line. prior to this last line, i noted this: Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style. any ideas? tnx for your time ottoman1384. mrl3ig65
@ottoman : instead of 81, you need to input 9f you insert the boot cd. then once it loads and gives you the option to enter a number, replace the boot cd with the leopard dvd. then insert 9f and it should start loading the install dvd. but i really don't know it would work on your laptop. it's worth a try though. thanks it kinda worked the dvd was working but it would hang on the boot screen and by boot screen i mean the screen that you get when you boot in to osx already installed and used the -v flag and it just hangs there. i am useing the orgial iso also the setup take a longggg time to load is this normal? should i add kext? and if so which ones??? well i hope to hear from anyone that can help. P.s i used the -v -f flags and 9f Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/17/#findComment-828678 Share on other sites

Thanks, i have a ds3l, not a p35. i got it installed with elastics iso. but not all features worked off the bat. wireless pci card didnt work. ethernet was flaky at best. you're gonna have to add some kexts depending on your video card, etc. i just tried it out. im not using it as my main setup. im still using kalyway @ 10.5.4 but i've been able to recover from back up using boot 132 and original leopard dvd. so, thats what i mainly use it for. good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/17/#findComment-829281 Share on other sites
Ishimaru
Has anyone with the Aluminum Apple keyboard had any issues with pressing enter to boot? I sure am, but I'm wondering if something can be added to the config file that after 30 seconds, it goes into the default 80 HD. Hmmm... djspacee
It's a great piece of software and the guys who came up with this have done a wicked job. I was really happy when I got this setup and running and could update from software update, I think it's genius. The only thing I have a problem with is the boot itself. There seems to be a huge gap with osx86 that the bootloader itself is not capable of multi-booting, grub is difficult to setup with it (standard EFI darwin boot or chameleon, and with Guid Partition Table this becomes next to impossible) and chain0 doesn't always work. Meaning that we don't have a bootloader which is fairly easy to configure and can boot other operating systems for us unless they are on the same partition as the drive we're booting. I do not want to switch back to havin my osx86 and windows installs on the same partition, because I have dedicated drives for each... I've noticed that the chameleon-DFE bootloader has the ability to select other operating systems and boot them. The only thing that is bugging me is the fact that there doesn't seem to be anyway to configure it so that it comes uop with a menu rather than defaulting the drive that it is installed on. I know that the chameleon DFE bootloader loads the extensions for the OSX install, but I wonder if it would be possible to not load these drivers, say if u sel;ected another operating system, configuring chameleon to boot other operating systems. This would make things a lot easier and save having to go into bios every time i want to boot windows. If this really isn't possible, I'd still like to be able to make the bootloader actually load the operating system for me like standard chameleon does, rather than just stopping on a command prompt... anyone have any ideas? also if anyone knows a method to get grub working for a GPT i would be very grateful.... MACinized
since boot-132 loads the necessary files to make a grey pc "pretend" as if it's a real mac, then would it be possible that having successfully installed a retail leopard, boot camp would be of use? pardon my ignorance of any technicalities. one9092002
~pcwiz's osx86 tools just use that to install chameleon, and then replace the boot file in the root of your install partition with the dfe boot file. The one thing that bothers me about this is that there is no way that i can figure out to get a countdown or automatic load of leopard, i always have to press enter for it to continue. If anyone knows a way past this please let me know! i am trying to boot from my hard drive with out the boot cd..can you tell me how to do this thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/17/#findComment-831443 Share on other sites

one9092002
Edit the com.apple.Boot.plistJust like you do on the OLD WAY of installing. I think the trick here is add Quiet boot = Yes or if you want a delay like so Just adjust delay to appropriate value. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> </dict> </plist> I keep getting told this DOESN'T work. But it WORKS for me. Anybody interested. Drum roll!!! I can now boot a NATIVE DFE DVD. NO NEED FOR DFE.iso So EASY to do. can uou tell me where i can find this file Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114651-modified-boot-132-bootloader/page/17/#findComment-831610 Share on other sites
cautaro
Hello, I have successfully installed from the Retail DVD using elastics iso (thanks) on a gigabyte p35 ds3l and then applying the patches as described in this thread. (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=115877). Now i'm getting the classic 'still waiting for root device' because I'm using a SATA HD. I'm a noob at this, so please let me know what to do. My bios doesn't have any SATA settings that I can find, but I know I have to change some kexts in order to get this working. I have posted the way OSX sees the hardrive and cd rom (also sata). Are there some packages I need to get? Where do I get them and how do I install? I posted in this thread because I'm not sure how to get those kexts using the Retail DVD install. LisPSIH
I stuck with one problem, I can't create bootable cd or usb with my own kext. 1)I use PowerISO and TransMac to add kext in initrd.img and burn it to CD-RW, but while booting i have checksum error 2)When I add kext to usb bootble drive with the help of syslinux... it's boot very well, but my added kext didn't work (if put my kexts directly in extensions folder in Leopard and chmode it - they work perfectly). Why my kexts didn't recognized in usb drive ??? (i add <key>OSBundleRequired</key> to info.plist but it's not recogniseble too) ( <string>Root</string> I have read whole two topics about boot-132, but can't find any methode to solve this problem. pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasse guru HELP HELP HELP >....
