dilnalomo
There's a big thread here, maybe that can help (didn't check if you posted there). umm..i tried the patched kext thing, and it kinda works in 10.4.7, but everytime i shutdown/restart/logout/ or just disconnect the internet, osx hangs on me... i tried 3 times already on 10.4.5-10.4.7, it hangs! Rammjet
Does anyone know anything about shapeshifter? According to the website, the release version 2.3.1 is not Intel compatible. There is a beta 2.4b3, but it has an issue with Rosetta. The beta is found here: http://www.unsanity.org/archives/haxies/betatacular.php The issue is: Very Important Note: ShapeShifter 2.4b1 and ShapeShifter 2.4b2 both had a bug that caused PPC applications running on Intel machines via Rosetta to sporadically crash on launch. The new beta, ShapeShifter 2.4b3 !!!DOES NOT!!! fix this issue. We're still working on it. If the bug affects you, a kludgy work-around is to copy/paste the command seen below this paragraph into /Applications/Utilities/Terminal before you run a PPC app on your Intel Macintosh. Here's the command: sudo killall translated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/38/#findComment-183277 Share on other sites

jollyfatman
What is your video card or onboard video chipset? Had a problem with Display. Also, no DVD playback on Intel 915GLVG mobo. Just had to install the GMA 900 patch that came with the 10.4.6 JaS iso. Hi Rammjet, Was away from the pc, so the late reply. I have an Intel 915GLVG board with on-board vid (Intel 82915G/GV/910 GL Express Chipset edit: vendor 8086 dev. 2582) Since my last post, I have installed the 10.4.7 JaS update and Mac OS 10.4.7 x86 JaS Install DVD - Post Install Patcher Build: 1.0.3 - SMB / CIFS / APF Fixes by {censored}-X. Some other probs: » All other WinDoze drives give read only access and no write (even after the Post Install patch) Cannot change permissions for files and folders on WinDoze drives (is that because they are on NTFS?) - I have Windows Sharing and Personal File Sharing turned on. AppleTalk is greyed out as my broadband sets-up on PPPoE. For those who are interested: Formatted the WinDoze partition to Fat32 (was NTFS). No problems with creating folders etc. Read/write from Mac OS X. » Can't see the Mac drive and therefore the files on ot from WinDoze (Gonna try out Media Four MacDrive 6... will post results Well, this did not work out. Maybe, coz the Mac drive is not a 'drive', its the second partition on the same HD as XP?) » Sound works but not like the boom blast in WinDoze (Realtek HD Audio Output Ver. ID: 10EC Dev. ID:0880 edit: Checked per the tutorial by aRt and looks like the settings were made accurately to start with ) » When Firewall is started I can't even access Google edit:Changed TCP/IP settings in Sys Pref>Network from 'Using PPP' to 'Maually' (gave the same ip set for my comp in winDoze). Turned on Internet Sharing in Sys Pref>Sharing and turned on the Firewall.... all works well... Have been Googling this as well as searching this forum but cud'nt get a solution ("stupid noob's looking in the wrong places"?) Greatly appreciate any feedback. SauceHelmet
@ Rammjet, I downloaded the version you linked me - installed, and rebooted. OSX-fan
DO NOT INSTALL any update directly from Apple.Disable that update notification. ONLY update from hacked updates (jas or myzar or anybody else... keep eyes open on insanelymac for news when there are updates). In your case, you'll need the Myzar 10.4.7 Update for AMD + the Semjaza 10.4.7 Decrypts (never the apple update alone!). http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=22465 Sorry for the big caps, but had to get your attention before you messed up your system! Take your time and read around. This ain't a major update anyways. /edited some confusion about 10.4.7, sorry. Ok yes I knew I probably should'nt have tried to install the offcial 10.4.7 update but I was curious Where is the link for the Myz 10.4.7 update and how to install etc please ? kess
Wherever you install osx, make sure it's a primary partition that is before any extended partition. With acronis disk director, you can make that partition of type AF right away. You can partition any of your drives with that acronis product; i recommend you defragment those drives' partitions first. You'll then have to reduce their size, and then create a new partition. If you install on a second drive, you can tell the acronis os selector (installable from disk director) to boot the second drive first, as if it was your primary drive. To know how to use Acronis Disk Director and Acronis OS Selector, i suggest you read the manual: http://download.acronis.com/pdf/DiskDirect...e10.0_ug.en.pdf In general I suggest you take your time and read around InsanelyMac before jumping head first. Read about problems, solutions, etc. This thread has plenty of that. Also look at the OSX Installation section with many more threads, and in general at the Homebrew Macs sections. I know there's a lot to read, but this will make you avoid problems: let others' problems and solutions guide you. And the Wiki is your friend too. Thanks for the suggestions and links. I browsed through the manual and Wiki but I still have a question. If I partition a drive with the Acronis product, can I go back later and erase that partition (second "section" of the drive) and make the drive 1 entire "drive" again, and can I do that without erasing the first section? If possible, can you describe the process of using the Acronis boot manager when XP is on one drive and OS X is on a second drive? If I install XP and the Acronis product on C drive, will it be able to detect OS X on the F drive and give me the option to boot either one? Finally, can you explain "You can partition any of your drives with that acronis product; i recommend you defragment those drives' partitions first. You'll then have to reduce their size, and then create a new partition." that further? Do you mean defragment F, partition it and then defrag that partition before installing OS X? Thank you. cbmkgd
The short answer to your first question is yes. But most of your questions can be answered by reading the manual for acronis disk director (or any other partitioning application for that matter). Take your time. For the last question, it's just that your windows partition, even though not full, may have files spreaded almost everywhere if you don't defragment, and resizing would be limited, although disc director might take care of this. And of course, backup important stuff before any fiddling with partitions, etc. You might even consider making a backup image of your windows partition just in case. Take the time. The acronis manual i linked contains an appendice with information on disk organisation to learn a bit. The boot manager should be able to detect on any drive, and you'll find in the manual how to select which drive boots first. My friend has 2 SATA drives in a RAID configuration. He would like to know the risks of this procedure (in other words, what can go wrong)? My installation seemed fairly painless so I am curious to know what the dangers are. He would be partitioning his 2 hard drives (the computer sees them as 1 thanks to RAID). What can he do if something goes wrong during the installation process? Will he still be able to recover his Windows files? Thank you. macmoby
Hi all. Im new to the forum, and already its great! This is actually my first post. Ive been reading over the guide for a few days while i was waiting to get the Myz 10.4.6 ISO. Starting today I foollowed everystep to the tee! Except I went out and bought an internal WD SATA Hard Drive.... I still followed the same partitioning and formating steps... just not on the hard drive that windows is on. Everything went great all the way through the OSX install, and I was really getting pumped! (sending my friends pictures of the install from my camera phone!) But then.... After I renamed the unknown operating system (osx) and double clicked to boot it. The lines of text flew by....then... a pause.... and... a RESTART! AHHHHH! So thats where Im at... I need this to work soo bad for a job using final cut... Thanks in advance for your help. Any thoughts? macmoby
So, after looking through the options of OS Selector, I found that when I boot OSX its set to first boot my c: drive, which is wher I have womdows... and then it boots my drive for OSX... I saw some past posts that lead me to belive that the partition for osx should be set to boot FIRST? Well, I selected manual order, and swaped their boot positions... and when i tried to boot i immediately got an error saying "error loading booter" MACMOBY.......Man this sucks Also... I did the whole thing start to finish over again... just using the 10.4.5 the secondtime through to see if had just been a problem with .6 update... but its still the same... Im thinking, just MAYBEE, that the problem is something to do with OS Selector? Or have you completed the installation, and now you get the text on boot? Does it finish booting and you get to the OSX Desktop or does it stall and never get totally booted? If this is after installation, then during the installation, what packages did you select under Customize? You should have chosen only Intel or AMD packages, not both. You should have chosen SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4249 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/38/#findComment-184812 Share on other sites
