Is it worth trying to reinstall with just sse2 support and no ss3?

 

 

Have tried this now and it booted! Excellent - now I just need to get my network card and some other bits working. So you can add me to the counter, still interested in the sse3 issue though.

i get this error when i try to boot into MAC OS X

 

at first its the greyish apple screen with the logo in the center...then a lot of text scrolls then it turns to a black screen and it continues saying this :

Darwin Kernel Version 8.4.1 Tue Jan 3 10:23:53 PST 2006 root:xnu-702.7.90.obj~1/RELEASE_I386

 

for about 2 minutes over and over until it finally restarts

Did not install Acronis OS Selector. (To boot osx, i press the f8 key at startup and select the PATA drive).

 

Sound Works!

SATA dard disks can be seen (read only for NTFS).

Cool, i'm interested as you have a similar board to mine, I have the Asus A8N - SLI Premium. No networking so far but I want to try the darwin_tulip file first. My other specs are:

 

WD SATA drives - not detected so using an IDE

AMD X2 4400+

2GB Corsair Value Select RAM

Thanks i tried other guides that said lo leave the partition unformated, and couldnt mount drive or anything.

i turned MAC on and it was online already with internet and i can acces my shared drives in my windows server!!!! and that's a ntfs partition!!!

 

(i can READ my XP ntfs partition ,TOO)

 

wifi doesn't work, as expected

 

i want now:

 

transparent finder & terminal (linux like)

1280x768 widescreen (i get 1024x768 right now so everything gets distorted)

video kext with Core image & QE - (i dont have a mac so i dont know whats the big difference?) SEEMS NOT POSIBLE BETWEEN OS 10.4.5 & i852 i855

Battery Info - it s a laptop so i want remaining time info

Audio - doesnt look recognised but it works. itunes audio too. i want it to be recognised

burner - is found but not supported - i want it to BURN DVDs

(did it with patchburn 4 !!!!!!!)

 

i'll put my xbench later

Hi!

 

I can report another success here, after some tries!

I used JasIntelAmd image 10.4.6.

My machine is a 2,8 Ghz Pentium4 Northwood with SSE2, 2GB RAM, NV 7800 GS GPU, 865PE mainboard.

 

I installed macosx86 on a seperate 10GB Harddrive. To my experience, there are some special things to care about if u install on a seperate harrdrive.

1. i think its important to use a logical partition first and convert to primary after install, as some other poster already mentioned, that seems to work better.

2. if u want to have the whole HD as only one logical partition, there is an error when installing, which leads to some troubles. when u delete the partition in acronis and create a logical afterwards, there are always about 7 mb free space in front of it. U need to make a NTFS partition of this freespace, then it works.

 

Unfortunately, i couldnt get it to work with the chain0 method, only with acronis bootloader. ill need to work on that. maybe it helps if i delete the 7mb ntfs partition, which i created to make install work, but im not sure about this.

 

Then, there is some strange Problem in Macos which i cant explain myself. When i start terminal to do some drivertuning etc. i need the "~" key. but i cant type it. when i use the character palette to add it, it displays "\342\210\274" except of ~.

any help apppreciated.

I have installed several versions of OSX86 on IDE & SATA drives

the SATA drives just don't boot after partition installation no mater which partition format I use

not even -v , -x F8 would work although all my drives are visible in the terminal

as well as in the windows command window

 

I have used all kinds of codes to solve this SATA problem without success

 

any new workarounds for 10.4.6 on SATA ...

1. WIN XP Pro SP2 - NTFS - 40GB

2. nothing - 40GB

 

After inserting a bootable DVD MacOSX_10.4.6_GoatsecxDVD into the DVD ROM started Darwin 5 with these parameters on the screen:

VESA v3.0 16MB (ATOMBIOS)

 

Next started gray/silver screen with silver LOGO Apple and rotate wheel.

But these screen with silver LOGO Apple and rotate wheel run still also more how 30 minutes.

 

Please help me resolve this problem.

hey there, if you are using the Hotiso install, check SSE2 in the customize options instead of SSE3 !!! when i did that it worked for me!!!!!

 

tell me if it worked with your network card as welll, because i too have a dell 8400

Finally followed the tutorial step by step ater 2 days of mixing different methods, which brought me nowhere..

 

I used Mac OSX 10.40.6 Tiger x86.iso

no external drive

and i can call it a SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!

MacOSX is running on my PC !

Dual boot is workin fine with Acronis OS selector

USB mouse workin fine

But MacOSX doesn't see my data partition.... photos etc... WHY????

 

I used Partition Magic to format \ convert & move my partition on which MacOSX is installed after C: before the proper install

(It did not work with the MacOS partition placed after my data disk, it took about an hour to move the partition between my C: & my D: (data disk))

i could not find how to move the partition with Acronis Partition Suite

im not sure, but i think this happend because the boot record on your Mac-partition isnt right.

 

try to install it on a logical partition, with any primary partition in front (size, os etc doesnt matter), and convert to primary with acronis after install.

I tried the SSE2 option and then it worked. Then I had problems with my vid card (X300) as I couldn't change resolutions and also never did get the network card working. I also have a WUSB54G Linksys wireless adaptor but couldn't get that to work either. That's one thing, these driver problems are frustrating.

Hey there, Im experiencing some problems. I got it all going basically till select a destination. i had crated a primary fat32 partitinon called OSX, it setup an all but when I got into select destination I did the whole deal like setup disk, selected OSX, and erased to extended(journaled) or whatever, but then when I hit the red button to close out, OSX doesnt show up in my list, so ik went back and deleted the old partition and mamde a new one - logical - same problem. Also, the os selector shwos like 5 OSes now - windows, boot from cd, unkown os, and unknown os 2.

New here, and let me just say what a straight foreward guide.

Thats the one I used and got so many problems. Lets see here, when I had to convert the partiton, even though it was 25 gigs OS X only recognized 4 gigs, It locked up whenever I tried to change the name, took like 5-6 minutes to load the installer etc etc, once the Fat32 partition was converted I had top do a disk reapir, and mount it to make it show up, and it would never boot, not to mention my mouse didnt work in the OS selector.

Myzar 10.4.4 did not work for my on an IBM T30.

Got to installation and it flat out said there was a problem and could not continue.

I could get the log if you want, but I don't know if it is worth the effort.

I am acquiring myzar 10.4.6 now to see if it will work, anyone else have a release that has generally worked a lot of the time?

I have an IBM Thinkpad T30, 1.8 pent 4 mobile, 256 ram (i know), and all the rest.

 

10.4.4 did not work from myzar, grabbed myz 10.4.6 last night and went straight in, not a single hitch. Display is fine, full resolution and colors, proc is fine, audio out is fine,

 

negs:

no microphone

no wireless

no battery guage

 

 

Anyone konw how to solve these?

mainly wirelles and battery.
