CoRD Remote desktop. Downloads.

An universal RDP client for accessing those Windows machines. The official Microsoft one is as good as this one, but it's not universal. And we all know that rosetta sucks.

This one is nice. Thank you.

My favorite torrent program for OS X is XTorrent. It has the best UI I've seen and it is really fast. The best part is that it has a built-in torrent search that incorporates its own web browser. I really like it.

Quicksilver - Keyboard shortcuts to do everything on your computer

www.quicksilver.blacktree.com

Desktop Manager - Have multiple virtual desktops, like Leopard's "Parallels"
http://mac.softpedia...p-Manager.shtml

NeoOffice - Office suite based on OpenOffice, tweaked for Mac
http://www.neooffice...va/en/index.php

AppZapper - Uninstall applications without letting them leave behind random files peppered in hidden places
http://appzapper.com/

iAlertU - Use your Mac remote to activate the motion sensor within, as a theft alarm
It will even use the iSight camera built-in to take a snapshot of whoever triggered the alarm, and automatically email the image to you.

http://www.slappingturtle.com/home/

MacTheRipper/Handbrake - Rip your DVD collection to your hard drive and playback with Apple's DVD player
http://www.mactheripper.org/
www.handbrake.m0k.org

Stuffit Expander - Extract all kinds of zipped and compressed files
http://www.stuffit.c...nder/index.html

Firefox - Unbeatable web browser, customize with extension "add-ons." Block banner ads within pages automatically, etc. Upcoming version 3.0 to support native Mac look.
www.getfirefox.com

Shiira - Best Safari replacement. Built with Apple's "cocoa" code-writing, so it renders pages as Safari would. Adds more features such as Expose for tabs within browsing. This is good if you need multiple browsers open and logged into the same sites with different accounts.
http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en

Parallels - Run Windows XP within a window, or full-screen. I use it in conjunction with Desktop Manager, to make one of my virtual desktops a full-screen session of Windows XP.

Try Panic's Unison. Not free, but I think it is worth it just as a download manager.

I'd like to recommend hellanzb, the best usenet period. It does literally everything and all you need to do is drag and drop a .nzb file , it'll queue the rest of it up, download, check pars, unrar it, and dump it into a finished folder ready to use! It'll even decompres flac and several other formats into .wav.

http://www.hellanzb.com/trac/

have a gander, don't be intimated by it's unixness, just setup macports and your ready to go ;o.

In no particular order:
DockDodger
MPlayer
SABnzbd (better than hellanzb)
Unison
AppZapper
DarwiinRemote
CoverSutra
Coda
VisualHub
Pacifist
Macam
Fluid
Anxiety
Little Snitch

I could go on and on...

Anyone know a good application to customize the appearance of the dock in leopard? I found one that can even change the "running" icon, but I lost it and forgot what its call...

It might be CandyBar.

excelent list domino
i agree about menumeters
this lil soft is so cool :D

I'd like to suggest someones:

BBEdit (UB): Edit every .plist .xml and texts or configuration files
is very fast usefull with load of options.

Get Here: http://www.macupdate...info.php/id/726

Quicksilver: (UB): Find everthing on everywhere on your disk, you can use your spotlight, but i preffer quicksilver, is much fast and best with more options than this one from apple.

Get Here: http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/

Wrangler is almost as good as BBEdit, and it's free. It opens ANYTHING!

After so many good recommendations I would like to add:

Default Folder X - see here: www.stclairsoft.com/DefaultFolderX
... makes pull down menues configurable (=shorter)

And:

SoundSource, freeware: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/
... you can easily switch between sound sources from the menu bar - very helpful if onboard sound does not work and you have to switch between USB-sources frequentially

I have another project running: Scanning all my paper documents with a semi-prof scanner which is fast and does a good job: about 10000 sheets already scanned. Without haassling around with a real database you can do all that indexing and searching with:

Leap - find it here: http://www.ironicsof...leap/index.html

I'm a good fan of Indev's software http://www.indev.ca/
They make MailTags and Act-On which are two plugins for Apple's Mail.app
MailTags was once a featured download on Apple's download page.
